Oh and their bathrooms are comically huge haha But yeah their outdoor seating options are insane. Long tables, patio type couches, fireplace seating arrangement... just a whole array of options yall. Ton of TVs + games such as darts, corn hole, board games, etc. As for beverages. Also helllla options on draft which range from classic offerings like Guinness to more unique things like peanut butter stouts. What a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. I was walking by yesterday and stopped by. The smell of pizza and food automatically hit my senses which was mixed with the smell of beer on tap. It took me a second to realize that this was a former Chinese restaurant and I ate here decades ago with my late aunt. I loved the sign for fries and burgers that were under .50 cents and the bathrooms down the stairs was a throwback to hurricane cafe, 90's bars on Capitol Hill, Marios's, and many others with carefully curated stickers and random art. It was a cozy bathroom with a sitting area and randomly, a TV with remote. Service was super nice and friendly and I saw some neighbors that could easily be on the hill pre-gentrification. Lake city is an interesting diverse neighborhood. I'm glad the Growler Guys exists to ensure a warm and welcoming vibe. read more

We went to this place as a recommendation from a friend. The second we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest bartender who suggested excellent selections. We tried lagers, stouts, and kombucha. We loved our choices. We also ordered sweet chili wings that tasted amazing. Plenty of seating inside and outside. They have heaters and blankets outside, as well as games. They also have 9 TVs and are planning to show the world cup finals tomorrow. We stopped by today as I found a coupon on The Entertainment app for half off pizza here - EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD!! I came here once a few years ago with a friend to refill her growler and grab a pint, but didn't know they had a full menu! We got the Dragons Breath pizza, a Mexican Chocolate Death beer, and a cream soda for my bf who was driving haha. The pizzas are 10", come out fresh and piping hot, and have like a medium thin crust that's perfectly soft and chewy. You order at the bar and they pour the beer right there, the bottled sodas are in a small fridge that customers can go grab, and they provide a buzzer for when your food is ready. The Dragons Breath pizza had lots of ingredients and a really good blend of sweet, savory and spicy flavors. The Mexican Chocolate Death beer was incredible - sweet, complex and rich (and pretty high alcohol level - beware! Haha). The cream soda was really good too! I live across from this beer bar, and used to be a frequent patron. When they arrived in Maple Leaf, taking over the spot formerly occupied by Ying's Chinese Drive-In, they were a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the positives are outweighed by the negatives as of this review. The Growler Guys always has at least 50 beers/ciders/kombuchas/sodas available on tap, and has something to please everyone, as long as you are a drinker of these beverages. I've enjoyed a number of quality beers here, and have no issue with the beers or the selection. However, if you are looking for wine, there are much better selections elsewhere, and if you want liquor, this is not the bar for you. And there are diminishing returns in almost every other aspect of this business. Food here is really disappointing. All of it is heated in high-speed convection ovens, whether it be wings, tots, or sandwiches, and the selection is very limited. Wings and sandwiches are soggy, and while flavors are okay, this is not a place that you come to for the food. This is a place where you pad your stomach with mediocrity so that you can drink. There is parking here but, unfortunately, parking overflow goes to the unzoned residential neighborhood right next door. This creates a headache for actual residents who want to find a parking spot when they come home. Possibly related, we have more and more litter and beer cans/bottles appearing in the neighborhood. The worst offense by this beer bar is the noise. When they came to the neighborhood, they were a chill place to hang out. Now, they play live music all the time, and the noise level appears to be going up on the regular. This business is bordered by three apartment complexes, and the noise is loud and clear from any of them. I have called and briefly spoken to Kelly, the business owner, and while he has paid lip service to lowering the volume ("I'll see if I can't move the speakers so there's less sound bleed", or some nonsense like that), it's obvious that his priority is his business, and not the neighbors. A prime example: I just called to ask what time the music was stopping, and I was told 9pm. The music then continued until 9:30pm. The noise level is loud, and is a blight on the neighborhood, and it's pretty obvious that Kelly just doesn't care. There are better beer bars, better bars, and better restaurants out there in Seattle. And there are businesses that are much better to their local neighborhoods than this one is. I hope that you'll patronize one of those businesses instead of this one. read more

My friends and I love coming here because of the variety of beers/cider on tap. There's a lot for parking, but if you come at a peak time, the lot will be packed, but luckily, the location allows you to find street parking within the nearby neighborhood. Or if you're taking public transit, there's a bus stop nearby. During this COVID time, they have markers on the floor to make sure people give other people space to social distance. Masks must be worn when not seated and not drinking or eating food. Everyone must bus their own table prior to leaving. It's also great how staff will periodically come by to collect glasses that are empty. As for food, they have great options for food here as well. My friends and I usually get the tachos (tater tot nachos) and pizzas (they have a variety of options for toppings); all of which are delicious! Beer and cider selections are great. I usually get the flight to try out a bunch of different types. There's ample outdoor seating areas all around. It is also pet friendly. They have water bowls and treats for the furry friends. Love this place! They have 60 beers on tap, which is just insane. The beers mostly from Seattle based breweries but they also have some from outside the city limits and Oregon. Great selection. I think this place is better than Chucks Hop Shop -- I like that they spread out the beer list in to five boards/screens and organize them by type (all ipas in one area, all stouts listed at the end) which makes it really easy to order. The big black board at Chucks can be super overwhelming and hard to read. Definitely going to become a Growler Guys regular after this visit! If you live near the UW/Ravenna/northeast Seattle area, you have to pay this place a visit! The patio and outdoor seating area is absolutely gorgeous on a nice day. read more

I'm an IPA and sour ale guy, which they had a plethora of selection. They ran a promotion by giving everyone in my apartment community a free growler and a refill so I had to, at least, pay them a visit. I chose to fill my growler with the peach sangria to save for later; since it doesn't fizz. Definitely try out their flight of beers, which you get to choose four to taste for around $11 (ymmv; depending on which you choose). My favorite was the the sour ale, which had a crisp pomegranate taste with light fizz. Second would be the peach sangria, which was smooth and had a subtle peach taste. The food was a bit pricey: vegetarian Italian sausage with chips ($7) and naked chicken wings ($9). The veg italian sausage was a bit dry and needed to be dipped in the accompanying relish and mustard. The wings didn't have much meat, but were bomb when dipped in the blue cheese. We recently moved to Maple Leaf, and Growler Guys is now our nearest neighborhood bar, which turns out to be a great karma, as they have the best beer selection, fantastic staff, and pub grub to match. This is a serious place for beer - with over 60 taps and also more in bottles and cans. You can get a pint of beer or a growler of course. The bartenders here know their beers and they also have strong relationships with some of the best breweries in the PNW. I discovered some great breweries like Monkless, as well as favorites like Fort George, E9, and Urban Family (the Old Rasputin on nitro is also killer). The menu revolves around a trifecta of pizza, toasted subs, and wings. My fave was the chicken coastal classic - loved the pesto and artichokes with the chicken. I love this old building and think this is the perfect set up for a beer place. I don't think I ever actually came to Wong's, but remember driving by it for many years. There is some parking on site, but the downstairs bathrooms may be tricky for some. They serve pizza and wings, but I have yet to try it. I think they have the occasional food truck as well. Seems this is actually a chain, but this is the only location I have ever been to. So many great beers on tap and they are happy to let you sample some if you are having difficulty making a decision. The people behind the counter are educated about beer and can help influence your decision as well. Of course they also sell growlers to go. If you haven't been yet see if you can snag a groupon as an excuse to check it out. Seating inside is limited, but there are some great outdoor areas for warmer days. Or if its colder there are some blankets provided. Inside there is currently a basketball hoop game, outside has cornhole. Lots of people seem to bring their families here. The weird thing was outside smelled like manure or fertilizer so it wasn't pleasant. After ordering our food and waiting outside for a bit we were fortunate enough to find a spot inside. 3 of us split 1 64 oz pitcher, 2 pizzas, and 1 order of totchos and it was the right amount. Beer = good. I didn't order it, but it was good! Food = good. Greasy, not like the most amazing food I've ever had but good for bar food. I'm also a sucker for tater tots. For the last year I've been practicing at the Aikido dojo (still in remedial tumbling, thank you) across the street from The Growler Guys and I've been observing the business three times a week. Even in the thick of Delta last year they had folks sitting in the cold under the outdoor cover playing games, having a beer, talking and eating. Last month I met the owner (Tim???) and his most excellent propane weed-burner - that he let me try - when Two Cranes and Growler Guys spent some time cleaning up the block. Today, finally, I got two foot-long Phillies to go for lunch and may I say, they were excellent. I thought they were a little light in weight when I picked them up, but they were enough for my partner and I to each make two meals. These are not your run-of-the mill Phillies. I've been to Pat's in Philly when I lived in NYC 35 years ago and, well, it was mediocre then and probably still is. I also had my NYC-from-Philly landlady Dina's mind-blowing home-made and I would say this compares. Hers had homemade pickled onion and hot pepper, crusty bread vs the softer Philly standard, and lots of cheese, Growler's has some kind of tasty spicy mustardy sauce with what I think was both melty American and Provolone cheese and onions and mushrooms and jalapenos (hold the green pep for me). This is an interesting joint located inside a really cool circular building that I read was designed by Roland Terry, one of the noted architects in the Northwest. I didn't get a chance to sample the food as I had already eaten at another nearby spot but this is an impressive establishment with a good selection of beer, cider and wine. The atmosphere is relaxed but the service is good, unlike a lot of other places where "relaxed" means that everyone ignores you.
