Anthony (leasing officer)has been wonderful throughout the whole process. Crystal and Mark were very helpful with are maintenance issues ..Any issues get resolved through their system promptly and it's a straightforward process. They are extremely professional provides great communication made our move in process smooth as ever. Even after moving in they were very attentive to all our needs and requests .. Maintenance is also great always available to help you with a smile making sure everything is well kept and in order. read more

This is a difficult review to leave. When we moved in 2018 we were excited -- family friendly community, knowledgeable staff, clean community, prompt maintenance responses and repairs -- all of that changed when the complex changed hands from Avalon to the Grove. The complex is now mostly college kids who rev their loud cars at all hours of the day or night and have loud raucous parties that will keep an infant awake. The front staff has not been consistent and does not appear knowledgeable at all. We asked a question and received 3 different responses; they seem friendly until you move out -- then they become adversarial when you question a host of unexpected charges. There's no prorated rent upon move out despite the 60 day notice of when move out occurs. They charge additional rent the next month even though the dates on the lease should have been covered with that month's rent. The community has nice landscaping but you have to watch your step as people do not clean up after their pets along the grass and sidewalks. Maintenance comes at their own timing. We understand that they're short-staffed, and when they come they complete the job, but it can take a few weeks before the request is addressed and completed. For the price of rent, it may be more cost effective to rent a house. The conditions of the apartment are not worth the price. The cabinets have veneer that peels off revealing particle board, the plumbing stinks, and the toilet plugs often despite nothing solid in the toilet. This is just a review of our experience. Despite our bad experiences there are 2 superstars which were the light here: Ana Nieves and Zef, the maintenance supervisor. We are grateful for them. read more

It is such a pleasure living here! I renewed for the 3rd time this year. Jessica the Property Manager is the best! She is very professional and answers all of my questions. There has been some improvements in the past year with the pool and the fitness center. I love the new treadmill machines. The Good: This community might present a promising opportunity for those in low or moderate-income brackets due to potential benefits through an assisted rental program. The bad: The location: The only grocery store that is close enough is Stop & Shop. Shoprite is a bit further. Target, Costco....etc are not located in the same township. If you your unit is by the Easton Ave/ Demott lane side (traffic light), good luck having a good night sleep. Intercoms are mostly broken. The pool usually opens in July instead of the memorial day due to "regulation" or "inspection" or whatever excuse. The ugly: Lost/stolen package is a serious issue. While there an Amazon hub, carriers don't always follow the rules and just place the package anywhere around the building. I once had a $300'ish car seat disappeared before I pick it up! Forget about the security cameras, a staff member once told me they are not working at all. In my 9 years of staying there, it was rare that a winter can go by peacefully without a false fire alarm going off in the middle of the night. The lease contract is about 78 pages long (with a lot of addendum)!! Good luck trying to read it all. I am someone who does read as much as I can before signing something, however the language complexity and the way one single thing can be dispersed across several paragraphs at several unrelated pages and addendum, should be really illegal IMO. There is a side of the building where roaches in the trash chutes is a serious issue. Not all the building is confiscated though. There are no restrictions on dogs breed. I once had an encounter with a Pitbull in an elevator tried to reach out and step on my 2 years old shoulder. The ceiling is very thin. Your upstairs neighbors will probably wake you up by just walking for a night trip to their bathroom. I am not sure where to classify the office staff people. They are nice sometimes, but give attitude other times. They act professional sometimes, but incompetent and give false information other times. I will consider it my own anecdote experience and won't rate that. Overall, an OK place to live in, but so many stress in different ways that makes the entire experience somewhat challenging. read more

The Grove is definitely NOT what it tries to represent at the leasing office with their fancy decorations! A lot goes on that they fail to tell the residents. A close friend of mine overdosed in one of their empty apartments a few years ago. The Grove had no idea he was even in the complex, until his corpse began to stink up the whole building A! He'd been there so long they had to use dental records to ID him! They have others constantly stealing residents packages and then claim no responsibility, people don't clean up after their dogs, so if you're not careful you'll step all over it! They have squatters staying in empty apartments or under the staircases at any given time! It's just not a good place guys! read more

Do not move here. Terrible place to live, avoid moving here at all costs. The maintenance team is honestly great but trust me..you will need the maintenance team because when you move in, things will be broken or they will break shortly thereafter. The office personnel are friendly, they're given a crap situation to handle and try their best There was a recent round of car break-ins and burglaries and when I reported the situation the office was aware that it is occurring but deliberately took no action. So if you move here, always lock your door. They act like they invite conversations to find solutions but no real issue ever gets solved here. you're paying an amenity fee for gym equipment that is broken, the dog park is literally routinely surrounded by trash. Animal waste lingering in the elevators is also not an uncommon occurrence. Sincere safety issues like power outages (which leave interior hallways pitch black), and elevator breakdowns are common, posing legitimately dangerous conditions for elderly and handicapped individuals. Lobby's of buildings have the AC turned off even on the hottest days. The garage doors have been broken for months, so literally anyone can walk into the community regardless of whether or not they live here In the first year we had our dishwasher break FOUR times, it was finally replaced..and now that dishwasher is broken. Same with a leaking garbage disposal that led to mold growth. We had to have our hot water heater replaced, pre-installed shelves fell out of the closet 3 separate times, and our drawers have begun to fall apart. The platitudes they offer when you bring these issues up are laughable, literally nothing is being done that we're aware of to fix the issues in the community, and because they don't care, community members don't care. They recently raised the rent, if anyone is thinking about moving here, don't pay these prices, what you get doesn't come close to what you pay. read more

My packages and everyone else's are constantly being stolen or ripped opened, although lead to believe that the Grove is a family friendly and oriented community however at the instructions of the leasing office my neighbors downstairs have called the police at least 5 times now with noise complaints all before 7 PM! Not everyone cleans up after their dogs, so your stepping on it all day if you're not looking. There are constant police activity and cars being vandalized. It is definitely not what they will have you believe with their expensive furniture on the exterior of the leasing office. read more

This place is just awful! They have been spending all this money on clubhouse upgrades and nothing on the actual units. With that being said, our rent was raised $300 a month this year and our apartment is falling apart! Our door to the balcony is broken, the cheap blinds are falling off the windows. Our dishwasher broke twice and they replaced it with a sub par model that is now broken! Our hot water heater broke in the middle of winter and took a week to replace. Now one of our kitchen cabinet drawers are broken and all of the cheap laminate coating is coming off. The complex advertises itself as smoke free community but that is not the case. Our neighbors are constantly smoking cigarettes and marijuana inside and on the balcony. The smell is now in my closet. The grounds are littered with dog feces. The garbage rooms are constantly full of garbage. The list goes on. With units starting at $2100 a month, this is unacceptable read more

Avalon Somerset was incredible, especially the staff & maintenance. The apt units themselves are gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed my almost 3 years with that company. Once The Grove Somerset took over however, it became horrible, especially the staff & maintenance. It's evident why I moved. They had a revolving door of staff. Even when living there, they failed to properly contact me or communicate with me when needed. Trash rooms were filled with furniture and trash, piles of discarded trash were left outside because no one would clear the garbage cans. To replace Avalon signage, they simply put plastic stickers over all previous signs (elegant look for sure). It was incredibly difficult to get in contact with any staff, both when living there and after. TLDR, with this management company, you'll pay luxury prices for Walmart experience. read more

I get the complaints about the management change it was a turbulent couple months but never had trouble reaching the staff or getting help. This place is built so cheaply. The kitchen cabinets are are pressed wood with a contact paper like covering, that was peeling off by stove from heat. It was like that when we moved in. The floors creek when the dog walked on them. Not to mention the wood looking part of floors is like peel and stick. Silverfish over run the place, even after exterminator. Took them 4 months to replace key pad to garage door. Definitely not worth 3000.00 a month!!! Had Townhome. Amenities are a joke, it took 2 lifeguards every 45 mins to check water. And they shut pool down for 15 mins even after checking water. They played on their phones at that time then would take a break for 30 mins and shut pool down for that too. Way overpriced for what you get. While there I had good experiences with the maintenance team but it seemed like the admins didn't care about their job. At a certain point a maintenance guy gave me his personal phone number because he knew the admins would take hours to alert him or tell him at all. The "grills" are also disgusting. Not in a everyone uses them kind of way, but in complete disrepair kind of way. The whole place is a facade. The pool is a scam, the rent is a scam, and they also scam you out of money in your deposit. We had to have a very long chain of emails to explain to them how they charged us double for things out of our deposit. Not to mention we'd conveniently hear back from them at 4:53 pm on Friday.... wonder why. Don't trust anything you see at this place. Also they do a poor job or clearing the trash rooms/ trash building. On weekends the dog run will smell like a dumpster because people ran out of room to push their trash into the shoot so it sits outside. read more
