Garth greeted us when we walked in the door and delivered excellent service. Garth recognized my grandson was struggling with the selection and Garth proactively helped. The Grind Cafe is a refreshing change of pace from the typical coffee shops we have all come to expect. It has been one of my mainstay locations whenever I visit Racine and I have dropped by early in the morning when driving to Chicago (as early as 6:45 am), in addition to the more common situation, a Saturday or Sunday morning for a pick up or to catch up on some work. The location is large and has plenty of seating for groups and those doing work. My main drink is the iced mocha which is bold and not overly sweet (has a richer taste) and the espresso used include local roasters like Anodyne. In addition, they offer a loyalty card for multiple visits. I look forward to continuing to visit and supporting a nice local coffee shop. read more

The Grind gives Mount Pleasant a good name despite its urban sprawl community plan. The panini sandwiches my wife and I had were made by a very friendly gentlemen--with a wild mane of hair all over his face and head--and they were very scrumptious. I think he was a hippie or something. But anyway, the real thing to try here is a thing called "breakfast-in-a-cup." My mouth sent a message to my brain informing it that the breakfast-in-a-cup is easily one of the best smoothies it's ever had. My brain trusts my mouth, so I have to agree. It runs around 6 bucks. Highly recommended for coffee & sandwiches in Racine. They really care about doing things well. They use beans from very good roasters in Milwaukee, Anodyne and Stone Creek. They do excellent panini that are a steal at $5 (and would cost twice that in San Francisco). They make their own very good gelato in house. They just got back from a tour of Italy structured around a barista competition. That's how much passion they have for what they do, and you can sense it in everything they make. It's in a very unassuming location but worth seeking out. Little tip: try the Italian sodas. They're mixed fresh with sparkling water and your choice of fine Monin syrups. They beat anything in a can. I haven't Yelped in years but wanted to come out of retirement for a minute to put in a good word for The Grind. I would never have found this place without yelp, it's tucked between an urgent care center and physical therapist. Boy, am I glad I did. They use beans from Anodyne, who I had never heard of before (usually it's stone creek or Anodyne around MKE). Even though I usually go for dark roasts, I got their light roast and was blown away; it was just fruity enough while still retaining just enough darkness. The cranberry walnut that I also picked up was perfectly sized, and not too sweet. Seriously a hidden treasure, if you are a coffee snob like myself, this is a must visit in Racine read more

I was a regular customer there. I went in there and ordered a large tea and to my surprise was refused my drink that was nearly $3 because I didn't have cash to pay the $4 minimum. I explained that I n ever had a problem before. The lady, who I knew was the owner, made sure to let me know she was the owner and then said while her ugly face twitched, that her employees shouldn't have been doing that. Her husband is a nice guy, the wife is a total... I won't be going back. I never did anything to deserve that kind of disrespect and attitude. read more

This is hands down the best place to get an espresso drink in Racine. Espresso drinks are one of those things that I get pretty disappointed about when it doesn't taste just right. Quite possibly the best coffee I have ever had ( I HIGHLY recommend the honey latte). Quality and local ingredients. Friendly, awesome owners. The food is AH MAZ ING!!! Had the mozzarella tomato Panini and the chicken enchilada soup it was delicious. Grabbed the blueberry muffin just because it too looked amazing and it was!!! This coffee shop is ADORABLE and very cozy with large enough space to accommodate a book club or small group gathering. They feature live music occasionally on weekends. The Grind Cafe serves a wonderful assortment of well blended coffees hand picked by the owner. Personal service, great prices, and convenient location on Hwy. 20 next to Razor fitness. A pretty great but out of the way coffee house. The service was excellent and the brew way better than the crap you get at the chains like Starbucks and DD Donut factory. The grind café is perhaps one of the better independent coffee chains in the area although the strip mall and far away form the road look is pretty generic. I think it is part of a neighboring health club and physical therapy business. You don't have to be a member to go here though and I highly recommend this place for people wishing to have a more unique and sit down coffee experience read more

I've had the coffee and food once before and it was great. Unfortunately, it takes a very long time to even order. I was just there, with only one person in front of me and two people behind the counter working. After 5 minutes of the cashier and customer chatting and the other employee ignoring me, I walked out. I drove out to the Grind from Racine with high hopes, after reading the good reviews on Yelp. On one hand, the baked goods are absolutely DELICIOUS and worth every penny, and the employees are nice. Local art for sale is featured on the walls, which is a great touch. The industrial location (between Aurora clinic and fitness center) was pretty disappointing, as was the cafe's loud music. The coffee was okay, but nothing to write home about. I was hoping to enjoy a book over coffee and a treat, but could barely hear myself think over the music and employee chatter. I really wanted to like The Grind, but am sad to say I won't return. read more

Met with three friends here at 11:00 a.m. None of us had been to this cafe, but I had seen the good reviews on yelp. I had chai tea which was delicious. I also had a cup of the pot pie soup and it was very good. My friends had the breakfast scrambles which everyone seemed to enjoy. One of my friends also got an enormous peanut butter cookie.
