Stopped in for dinner when I stayed nearby. It's not a typical cozy pub. Kinda open and empty. I ordered battered halloumi. It was good, could have been hotter and had a faint fish taste. Same oil as fish and chips I guess. Got the steak and ale pie. Pretty good, standard pie, a bit heavy on the crust. Asked the bar maid about garden peas or mushy, got a blank stare. Don't think it mattered because garden peas and mashed potatoes that came with it were both pretty bland. Service wise nobody gave a crap whether I was there or not. Going to finish dinner and head a block over to Elephant and Castle or Churchill Arms for nightcap. Cheers! read more

Like, despite this basically being just another chain pub, I do appreciate how they all retain their original names, despite the fact that some massive conglomerate has bought it out (in this case Greene King - though as it turns out they have to pretty much removing many of these charming old signs). Came here on a Monday after shopping to hide from the rain and we were pleasantly surprised to find this pub. They have a buy one, get one free happy hour so my fiancé and I got the pims. Our first time trying it, and we loved it! We also tried the cider which had a fruity taste, but wasn't too sweet. Good value for the happy hour! Bartender was super nice and the furniture made it have an incredibly homey feel. read more

6/7/23 I've been in Britain for 2.5wks, nearing the end of our 3 week tour of the entire kingdom, and I gotta say I'm super disappointed in their pubs. I dunno what the deal is. English Pubs are made legendary by sooooo many movies in America. The accent. The convos. The huge and numerous pints! But alas.... It seems to me those movies are TOOOO accurate! In every single popular American movie featuring an English pub, people are always drinking a pint of piss looking beer. And waaaaadya know......... that's 99.9999999% of what I find after visiting about a dozen!!! I really tried. I went to historic pubs. Recommended pubs. It don't matter. The selection is always 1/5th as big as a good Californian gastropub, and never has anything all that interesting. Lagers dominate. The only stouts I could find are Guinness, and yea, it tastes like the crappy Guinness we have in America. I went to a dinner party in Nottingham and our host told me Guinness tastes better in Ireland..... guess there's only one way to find out. Anyway, this here is another recommended pub. It's certainly super popular, most much than most here. Half the people I think are here for business though, but that's cool. Many soccer fans, as that's what's playing. 90% men, only a couple women. Snooze fest. There are about a dozen beers on tap, mostly lighter (read: lagers). Zero stouts unless you count Guinness. No sours. Some IPA's..... I'll admit I have a preference for pubs that serve Stella on draft but when the food exceeds my expectations, I'm all in. I've been here many times for the beer and atmosphere, and have always had very cordial service. Christian, Emmanuel and Joel are three of the bartenders with whom I've had great experiences. Last week I decided to order the Korean chicken wings to nosh on, and they were so amazing. I had a double order, and they were very meaty and fulfilling. I'm sure that having the sauce on the side as a dipping sauce helped keep them extra crispy, which is how all chicken wings should be in my opinion. This time I order the special of 3 grazing plates for £12.29 to try new things. Each one was totally satisfying. I ordered the steak Cajun skewers, Bao buns, and beer-battered fish goujons. The steak skewers were great, but surprisingly I loved the houmus spread on the side lettuce. I'm going to use that for future dinner parties! The bao buns were perfectly soft with a sweet yet spicy twist with the chicken and chili's. The goujons were tasty mini versions of a fish portion of fish n chips. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Even Superman hangs out here. read more

This place was kinda dead on a Saturday night with the few customers being blue-hairs. Nice looking place, but seemed to be a local fire the geriatric. The food was good though and service was quick and friendly. This is a good place for a quiet time, but not if you're looking for excitement. read more

Good beer, yummy nachos and great service in a cool atmosphere. The place is usually packed with locals when there is a good rugby or soccer match on. Minus one star because we arrived on a Sunday night at 5:30 PM and the pub stopped serving food at 6 PM...and they were already out of the fish n' chips and chicken. The lack of food obviously didn't stop us from throwing back a few drinks but it would be ideal if they served food a bit later! read more

Great pub a bit off from touristy and busy High Street where it appears a number of locals frequent. A bunch were gathered here on a Saturday night to watch (and loudly cheer on) some football. Friendly service. Didn't try the food but it appeared the kitchen was busy. Good selection of beer and booze. I'd definitely come back when visiting the area. read more

A perfectly acceptable place to stop by for a pint, right around the corner from spending your Whole Paypacket. Sunday roast: Perfectly decent, beef not overdone, heavily lacking in veg (beef, loads of gravy, indifferent yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and mash). The bar staff is not so sure what to make of food orders, it seems. ("What roasts do you have on?" "Yes, Sunday Roast" "Yes, but which kinds?" "Roast" "Roast what?" "Sunday Roast" "You know, Lamb, Beef...") Three decently kept if unimaginative ales on tap (one was off, one was Price, one was Adnams when I was there). The bar staff were friendly without being annoying and poured a proper pint, well, with attention. Decôr is perfectly acceptable, though a bit blah. Where this place works well is as a place to watch a match. If you're in the 'hood, swing on by; if you're not, well, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

The Greyhound looks like quite a small local pub from the outside and opens up to a vast interior. Glad to see a pub that's still a pub and hasn't been turned into yet another gastro pub. Mind you, the food is excellent, a good mixture of pub stables (bangers & mash, burgers, fish & chips) and grazing boards. The latter are extremely generously portioned and come on beautiful wooden boards. Good choice of beers and wines, just perfect. I would like it even more if there were fewer screens and machines slotted around the bar area. read more

Came here while visiting friends for a quite bite and a couple of beers. Really good ambience-obivously, its a pub in the middle of Kensington-and the service was pretty nice. Draft and bottled selection are great and their menu is pretty expansive. Would highly recommend coming during any game day, as they have a couple of TVs spread out for big groups to watch. Overall, the food is decently good but I'd come here more for the ambiance and the drink selection/prices. read more

The Greyhound is hidden away just off Kensington High Street and a nice pub to go to for a drink with friends. It has two pool tables so if you fancy a game you can come here after work. It also serves food so is a good choice for some pub grub for lunch or dinner. I used to come here for lunch a few years back when they used to have 2 main meals for £5.99 but unfortunately the price of this offer kept creeping up as the portions of the meals got smaller and smaller so it was soon no longer good value for money which was a shame. I've seen a few England games here and although the atmosphere is great, the big screen TV is very badly positioned as it reaches the floor meaning that people are frequently standing or sitting in the view of the screen. For footie matches I would recommend the Kensington Arms down the road although that's no perfect either but at least you can always see the screen. read more

While visiting Great Britain, my husband and I stayed at a hotel in the Kensington area. One evening, while we were looking for a pub to have dinner, we stumbled across The Greyhound. I'm so glad we did. The atmosphere is cozy, the bartenders are friendly, and the food--while plain and definitely pub food--was tasty and hot. It was one of the highlights of our London leg of the trip. read more

Enjoying my first pint of UK Guinness! Cannot speak for the quality of the food, but the seating is nice. I've found a corner near the window where I can read and drink and catch some football should I choose to do so. read more

A great place to pop in for a pint after spending the day shopping on Ken High St. The Greyhound has lots of seating, some boothy-parts in front and some tables and games in the back. The bar is roomy and relaxed, pints are fairly reasonable, and there's a mix of locals and passers-by which will always make for good people watching. Great place to meet up with friends if you're off for a night out in Kensington or calling it after a few cheeky pints. read more

Food was just ok. Prices aren't bad. Friendly bar keep. Good place for a pint, and some chips, but don't get the meat pie.

Staff is friendly. Kitchen closes early so I wouldn't plan on eating there unless you intend to go early. I'm American so I expected food anywhere I had a beer....uh wrong. Please stop and have a pint. A three star review in my book is worth the stop. I will say I'm older and felt very comfortable not surrounded by college aged groups so I guess its a mature pub. read more

Although I'd don't frequent this pub as much as I used to abuse it, whenever I'm there it reminds me of Cheers: Yes, somewhere where at least someone will know your name. The beer is reasonably priced, food is a solid pub menu for about £5-7 per plate and the locals here are top-draw - next time England play, get there early to get a seat (i.e. VERY early) and spend a couple of hours chewing through your fingernails with some of the most boisterous people Kensington can offer. The only downer is the staff seem to be on a rolling rotation these days - I didn't recognise any last time I passed through. read more

The greyhound is such a lovely pub. the atmosphere is so comfortable and friendly. i love to play pool here, often you can play with some of the locals who try their best to beat you! the beer is great, really cheap and they do really good cocktails too. it does get very busy but normally its really nice and quiet on a sunda afternoon. read more

Traditional pub with a restaurant at the back of the pub. The couch are vintage and comfortable. The music is nice, quite calm. In hot weather it is a fresh place to go and get a drink with friends. read more

Located just off kensington high street, this is quite an upmarket pub, frequented by quite a well-off clientle. The staff though seem slightly obnoxious. It consists of two main rooms, on of which boasts two full-size and a very large projector screen for all live sports. There is always a great atmosphere there for the big games. There is a great food menu during the day which won't set you back too much. ( I would recommend the steak sandwich). A really old and comfy pub, with sofas as well as usual chairs. They have several Ales, especially London Pride is very fine. The food they serve is also very good. Plus: The waiters and waitresses are very nice. Perfect place to spend your complete saturday afternoon with your Friends. read more
