Heart, healthy, and hearty mung bean soup
    Julia R.

Wish I could eat here every day because their "Soul Food" is literally food for my soul. Do you want to feed your soul? Seriously! Do you want to feed your soul through your taste buds and belly? I returned here for the heavenly mung bean soup, but I couldn't resist the fish fry with collard greens today for lunch. Scrumptious collard greens that pack all the nutrition your heart and soul will ever need! The greens are perfectly balanced with savory broth and sweet pickled onions. It came with a side of macaroni and cheese baked so perfectly the noodles dance on your teeth with the "al-dente-rhumba" (I just made up that food-dance!) And the cheese is so melty and buttery you'll want to jam more spoonfuls of their mac & cheese into your mouth before you've even chewed and swallowed the first bite! Please PLEASE go eat here. I can't eat it all myself, I'm so full I'll probably won't have to eat again for a week, but I want this restaurant to stay in business so I can come back here when I'm hungry again. I didn't even tell you about the side orders: 1. Aïoli which I used for the fried fish 2. Lemon vinaigrette which I drank as a beverage! I literally drank the vinaigrette dressing because it's so freaking delicious. 3. Cornbread yum! Homestyle ambience, outdoor seating.

Little treasure spot located in Lihue, on Akahi st. The Greenery cafe is located in the back of a house. The front of the house is a counseling office. So make sure to walk in the back. Out door seating available with limited parking. 2 car parking on the left side of the building. Don't block the entrance. A variety of Vegan/vegetarian, and healthy options. They're a Small business so expect to wait. However, I would recommend calling in your order ahead of time! I love their Mung bean soup, ahi wrap, and mango smoothie

Such a hidden gem! Stopped here for a quick lunch after our helicopter ride. I got a smoothie, fresh fish wrap, and a brownie-so delicious! Of course I forgot to take pics of the food but I've attached some pics of their beautiful garden

So unbelievably fresh. And feels good to support a local business and their awesome staff!

A backyard soul food cafe with healthy vegan options. Made with love and care! You can taste it. Fresh local ingredients too. So happy I finally tried the mung bean coconut soup. It was so nourishing. Service was kind, quick, & delightful. Simple ambiance with no frills but plenty of shade.

The combo plate included chicken, hamburger steak, and kalua pork, white rice and mac salad. Winner! The hamburger steak was tasty and the gravy was smooth. Don't like all meat patties because it's tough. This patty was home made and delicious! And kalua pig is all the same, right? NO WAY!!! This kalua pig was different, better, with flavor most intriguing and inviting you to eat more! How amazing is that?! Even the chicken was ono. And the mac salad was fresh and full of flavor too. Usually, mac salad is not my thing, but I found myself taking more than one bite! Will definitely be back for more great food on our next Kauai adventure! Keep up the great cooking! Woo hoo!

Each jumbo shrimp is coated in a lusciously garlicky, buttery glaze that's utterly irresistible, leaving me savoring every last bite. Honestly, it's seafood heaven on a plate. This meal isn't just delicious--it's mind-blowingly, palate-pleasingly unforgettable.

They also had a live band playing, which created a fun atmosphere and it looked like a lot of people were really enjoying themselves. If you're just looking for a quiet place to sit and eat, though, it can get a bit loud, nothing against the live music, just something to keep in mind depending on what kind of dining experience you're looking for. The ahi nachos were a bit disappointing for us. The ahi itself was fresh and tasted great, but the "nachos" were actually more like fried wontons instead of traditional nacho chips, which felt a little odd and just wasn't really our thing. It would've helped if that was disclosed on the menu or if the server gave a quick heads up beforehand so expectations were clearer. On the positive side, the Tempura Ahi Bites were our favorite dish out of everything we ordered, definitely the standout item for us. The rib plate was also decent with satisfying portions overall.

From the moment we arrived, the hostess was warm, welcoming, and attentive, which set the tone for the evening. The entire staff was fantastic, and we especially want to thank our server, Danielle, who was truly amazing and made our experience even more special. We came in with a large party of 15, and everything was handled seamlessly. The food was delicious across the board. The kids loved the chicken tenders and fries, and for myself, I ordered the lobster tempura to start along with the chili crunch poke--both were incredible, especially the poke, which was super fresh and full of flavor. The wine list included lots of options that I don't often see by the glass, such as Chenin Blanc and Albarino. The Aperature Chenin Blanc was so tasty alongside appetizers and seabass. For starters, we had the short rib potsticker (5 to an order with a peanutty curry sauce on top), and focaccia, which came with balsamic and olive oil, plus roasted garlic cloves. The chewy texture was great, it almost seemed air fried. Entrees: 2 kid's shells with cheese (mac'n cheese) generous portions, and no grief over 15 to ordering off children's menu. Also, the filet and seabass entrees. One came with mashed potatoes, one with rice, but we swapped. Could have with both choy, or sub in green beans. The filet was cooked perfectly to our liking at medium, and very tender. I'm not sure on the size, but it was plenty. The seabass came with 2 large pieces of fish. About half got eaten, it was so delicious, but the buttery texture made it very filling, so hey! Lunch today. Possibly the best aspect of the dinner, topping the food and divine weather, was our server, Ali'i He went above and beyond, chatting to the kids and myself, plus on point recommendations, and speedy water fills and checking in. He brought me wine tastes, solit a virgin daiquiri for my girls, and generally brought a spirit of Aloha. There was a nice duo singing on the patio, too, which really sealed the deal on the relaxing atmosphere. Bathrooms are also very luxurious.

We went on a Saturday around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. There is a small parking lot near the restaurant on the left hand side. It was filled when we first got there, but we were luckily able to get a spot. I could see this lot filling up quickly during other meal rush hours, so do take note if you plan on driving. The ordering is done like your typical poke place, you tell the service worker what you would like and there's a small toppings bar at the end before the cashier. There was a small line when we went, and even with the line, it still only took about 5-10 minutes to get our food. There isn't interior seating in the restaurant though, you will have to get your food take out, or just eat in the parking lot. I got the 3 scoops of poke option for $15.25, and I think that this is a pretty solid deal for the variety of fish that you can try out! I think based on my personal experience on Kaua'i, it will be difficult to get food, especially poke at a reasonable price. But for this price, it's probably the best place on the island to get poke without paying $20+ for the same variety. The fish tasted fresh, and I am a fan of the selection of toppings they had. If you are in the Lihue area and looking to try some poke at a reasonable price, I would recommend The Fish Express! There seems to be a decent amount of other interesting looking options on the menu, and if I'm ever in the area again, I would totally give them a try!
