House burger, mushroom burger, owl fries, potatoes
    Mia B.

A vegan staple! The two times I've been here it has been pretty tasty. The house burger has wonderful flavor, and the owl fries are a decent vegan take on animal fries. The mushroom burger was a bit dry and lacking on the mushrooms, and the roasted potato's could've used some more seasoning. Would recommend overall if you're looking for a solid vegan meal.

I've been coming to Green Owl for years and I find myself ordering it pretty much once a week. My favorites off the base menu are the Steak Bomb and Banh Mi. The fries are killer, but I love the kale crisps too. They also have rotating soups and a variety of desserts that are delicious. But my favorite thing is checking in every week to see what they've cooked up for the Sammy of the Week and Burger of the Week. Or any number of tasty weekend specials/pop ups. I don't think I've ever had a dud. There isn't a ton of seating and it can get pretty cramped with people waiting for take out orders. In the warmer months there's quite a bit more seating with the patio open. It's counter style and dine-in service is generally pretty speedy. My only qualm is that they're essentially a vegan restaurant--all desserts are vegan and all dishes come vegan by default--but they still offer dairy cheese and eggs(?) I would really love to see them fully commit to being a vegan restaurant. I love this place (they even have cute merch) and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates a hearty sandwich/burger and a menu that stays interesting.

I had my lunch here on a Sunday. The place was busy, but I still got a seat right away. jambalaya was my favorite item here. It was a sesonal specialty. It was nice and flavorful. Barbecue jackfruit berger was another special. It was a good item as well. Kids chicken nuggets was just ok.

Vegan and veggie lovers UNITE!!! This place is dedicated to having several options (including a rotating seasonal menu and specials) that will appease the gluten free/friendly, vegan, dairy-free, and vegetarian appetites. They have classic cocktails for $5 (and can get them to-go) plus they have signature cocktails for $10. Wide variety of food to meet the pickiest of eaters needs. We tried the house burger and chick'n sandwich. Both were stacked with fresh ingredients and generous portions! BONUS: No credit card fee!!! Bring whatever payment you'd like!

I love that there's vegan options, since that's the first thing I'm looking at while traveling. I ordered through the phone was told 30 minutes for the food which isn't too bad considering online it said about an hour wait. Once I showed up to pick it up they said a few more minutes. Almost 20 minutes pass by and 3 other people get their orders. I eventually got mine. I subtracted a star for that. As for the food, the banh mi was okay, I've had better and not as liquidly as this one. The "meat" is grilled tofu and I shouldn't have expected so much but it didn't have much flavor. Subtracted another star for that. The fries were pretty good. The vibes were very hipster and filled with plants, you order at the counter and seat yourself as well. Outdoor seating is nice. Not sure if I'll stop by again if I'm passing by.

    BB Bowl
    Gabby N.

I love this place! It's usually a reliable spot for delicious food and friendly staff. I tried the BB Bowl for the first time last week, and unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. It was lacking flavor compared to other dishes I've had at Green Owl. I'm excited to try something different during my next visit.

Ask the Community - The Green Owl Cafe

Is everything on the menu vegan?

It's either vegan or can be made vegan on request. They offer dairy cheese on some items and that can be substituted for a vegan cheese.

    Do they allow dine-in yet?

They currently have some outdoor seating (about 8 tables of 4 seats each) with umbrella coverage, but are not open for inside dining yet as of early June 2022. You can come in to order; they will bring your food out to your table outside; and they…

Are they dog friendly? Are well mannered and well behaved dogs allowed on the outdoor seating area of they are on leash?

With the outside patio dogs should be no problem. Especially on a leash.

Regrettably, something went wrong at my dinner at Graze. After the meal, I received an email asking for direct feedback with the management, which I shared. And I received a very well written apology with a sincere effort to make things right. That effort brought what would have been a 2* experience up to a 4* review. The most important tidbit I have to share for someone contemplating a dinner at Graze is to go hard on the vegetable focused starters. Wow! These were the stars of the show. Hands down. Full stop. Those were five star dishes all the way. Asparagus in season with bread crumbs. Stunning! Young tender beets paired with strawberries? Inspired! While the burger was tempting, I had a burger for lunch and I couldn't bring myself to do a two burger day. I went for the Korean Fried Chicken app as my main, paired with those veggies. It was plenty of food, and I had high hopes for the chicken given the chef's background. But some of the meat was stringy and overcooked. The sauce was zesty with good heat. Still, it fell short of the standard. Warm cookies and milk are never bad. Classics are classics for a reason. But given some of the culinary creativity that exists in the kitchen, it's a bit uninspired. That said, one scoop of seasonal pear sorbet was fantastic! Great flavor and texture. While the server did not know what type of pear was used, I'd put my money on Boscs. The place is popular. Make reservations early. Madison turns out not to be such a late night town, so plan accordingly. While I may not have been tempted to return originally, after the care and attention I received from management, I would indeed come back. I'm sure there is a 5* experience to be had at Graze, but sometimes it takes a second visit to get there.

I went with a small group, and although the place was packed the wood ceilings and dim lights help to foster an intimate and cozy aesthetic! We ordered four dishes: the chicken satay and the sakoo yat sai for appetizers, and the mok pa and the praram long song for entrees. The satay was okay--four huge skewers of chicken drenched in a sweet sauce. The sauce was too sweet for my taste. The sakoo was mostly tapioca, wasn't able to taste the filling much. The mok pa had a strange bitter flavor, and the praram long song was basically a fried chicken thigh and sautéed vegetables. All the dishes were relatively devoid of flavor and every dish had some sort of peanut sauce to accompany it (probably to compensate for that lack of flavor). Portion sizes were decent for the price. The check ended up coming out to around $50/person without drinks. Overall, I got the impression that this is the type of restaurant that you go to for the ambience and not the food. I'd like to give this place another shot because the food is really visually appealing, but I think you can easily find better Thai food at a significantly lower price point.

We shared several dishes which were all good, but these were the most memorable for me: - Chicken wontons in spicy sauce: wonton filling was seasoned well and the sauce was actually spicy. Most chicken dumplings, wontons, xiao long bao, etc I've tried are under-seasoned so I was very pleasantly surprised. Even more so that the sauce was actually spicy. I love spicy food so it was perfect for me - spicy enough to numb your tongue a little bit but not so spicy it takes over the other flavors. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who can't tolerate spice. - Tofu buns: buns were nice and soft, and tofu was sauced / seasoned well. Again, very happy about that because I've been the victim of too many under-seasoned vegetarian menu items. - Red Revolution cocktail: I'm not a big drinker and prefer cocktails that don't taste super strong. This was delicious but definitely a bit stronger than I'm used to lol. So great value for the money but wouldn't recommend if you have a low alcohol tolerance. Our server was also great, they checked in on us often but not so often that we felt rushed. Would love to come back next time I'm in the area!

The curry is the best I've ever had, so incredibly rich and deep in layered flavor. The tomatoey Nepali style sauce served with appetizers is to die for--salted to perfection and the tamarind sauce is also incredible.
