Small but stocked store! Everything was so fresh. Employees were wonderful. I went on Greek Easter They had everything I needed .

Good products however the place needs some TLC. Looks dirty and uninviting. Very outdated and dingy looking inside. None of the food looks appetizing. The cheeses were good. Dodonis feta, manouri and kasseri were fresh. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years. They carry a wide selection of various kinds of olive oils and imported Greek food and other products. I love the multiple choice option for feta alone, and then there's the other cheeses, a ton of olives of all kinds and styles, and general good spirit. Stop in on a Saturday for their free samples. Sometimes you'll find a vendor at the store doing a book signing or giving out treats to customers. I hope to be a customer for the next 20 plus years!! read more

Beloved by their customers, the family that run this place have been doing so for generations. They import items from Greece and Crete that you will not find anywhere else. I come here often for big cans of Kalamata olive oil, creamy Dodonis feta cheese, olives, meze items inc. dolmas, anchovies, and smoked tuna fillets. I like their homemade hummus, tzatziki, baba ganoush, and roasted red pepper dips. Their eggplant dip is unique, but very spicy. I always keep a tray of their frozen mini spinach & cheese pies on hand. And, of course, I never leave the place without some of their delicious baklava. This place is a gem. read more

1st time here I bought minimum half pound feta cheese. It was sliced and then weighted. As it was being placed in a container, part if the cheese broke off, the lady just threw a good serving of it away and marked the price (1/2 lb) in the container. I am torn between a 3 and a 4... My wife and I came here recently. I love the fact that it is a very old school cultural store. Very tight inside, room enough for 1 person to go up and down their "aisles" lol! Shelves packed floor to ceiling! I did notice that along the back wall, they have a few fridges that didn't work anymore, and they took off the doors and are using it as normal shelves... Im not Greek, but it looks like the have a huge selection of Greek items. I went there specifically for loukaniko sausages. I was expecting a decent selection, but all they had was pre packaged frozen ones... Super disappointed! I picked up spanakopita, also frozen. Most of their food items were frozen! I am not asking for a butcher, but maybe more fresh? They are the only Greek store that I could find within a half hour from where we live... I picked up some pita bread that was on its last day of sale, and as I opened it up the next day, it already had mold on it. I really don't blame them for all this, its very difficult to keep normal stock during this time. I might try them again post covid and see how they operate normally. All in all, seems authentic! I would think The Greek Store would be Mecca for anyone who cooks Greek food. I went as I've heard their olive assortment was epic, and it didn't disappoint. I didn't count the number of variants, but it must approach Heinz's 57! Prices are fair, parking on site, staff cheerful and helpful. I've put them on my permanent vendor list. read more

Like the saying goes -- it's all Greek to me. Meaning, in this case, if you don't know what you are looking for in this place you are going to be lost -- as in really lost. However, if you know Greek food, or know someone else who does (as in my case), then this place is awesome! Beyond the Greece sourced items for sale there is a lot of homemade magic to be had as well. The spanakopita in particular is wonderful. People come from a long way away to go here and that says a lot for the quality of what they sell. read more

The daily fresh bread and rolls are exceptional, I usually eat one of the rolls on the way home. But the best thing I discovered lately is the sour cherry concentrate that I mix with cold seltzer to make a delicious refreshing drink. Brings back memories from my childhood!!!!! read more

Their sheep's milk feta is divine. I love it with eggs for breakfast, and with watermelon for a little snack. The olive bar is impressive, better than any olive bar I've seen at Whole Foods. I only picked up a couple things here: rosewater, blue cheese stuffed olives, feta, and capers. Next time, I'll be back for kalamata olive oil, olive paste, labne, an olive wood cutting board, and maybe some Greek coffee. I also want to try out the homemade spanakopita in the refrigerated section. Parking is on the street out front, or around the back of the building. If you're buying anything under $10.00, bring cash because they have a credit card limit of $10.00. read more

I would give this store 10 stars if I could. They have 5 or 6 different types of feta cheese (who knew there was more than one????). Not knowing which type to get, the woman behind the counter told me the most common was the barrel feta. Sounded good to me. It's made with sheep milk (according to the woman that's the best milk to use) and boy she wasn't kidding. The feta was melt-in-your-mouth and creamy. And at only $7.99 per pound I wanted to buy 12 pounds!!! There are other fresh cheeses, an extensive variety of olives (20? 30?), fabulous olive oils, homemade dips and prepared food such as spanokopita and moussaka. They also have bakery items and fresh bread. This is such a great store and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth a visit! read more

Go for the olives, stay away from the moussaka. We had the moussaka a few years ago and remembered how delicious it was, so we thought we'd get it again for a special treat. Waaaaay too much bechamel sauce and undercooked, unpeeled eggplant. The spanakopita tastes great, but is in a weird egg roll/burrito shape. It's also a cause for concern for me that they don't put the packaging (or expiration) date on their homemade refrigerated items. My mother got some olives and loved them, so we may come back for those. Would like to give this place 2 1/2 stars. read more

Do you love Greek food? Do you love Greek people? Do you like any/all things Greek? Well I do and if you answered yes to any of these questions you will love the Greek Store! Seeing that this business has been around for 60 years (maybe more?) you know that they gotta be doing something right. From my experience, the pre-made appetizers/dinners are delicious. The moussaka, spanakopita, and tiropitas taste just like the Greek food that I enjoyed when I visited Greece. As far as deserts go, I've only tried the kourabiedes which were also very good and were a big hit at home. I have yet to buy any cheese/olive oil but the last time I was there, they had a table set up where you could sample various olive oil and cheese. You can also buy imported snacks from Greece such as digestive cookies and chocolate bars and let's not forget the Greek swag. Bumper stickers, worry beads, you name it, they have it! This family run operation is very conveniently located along the Boulevard in Kenilworth and is less than a mile off of the GSP. Whether you are a fan of all things Greek or just curious, stop on it. Let's hope they can stay open for another 60 years! read more

i've been here several times but wanted to wait until i tried a decent variety of items before giving a review as others have said the olive selection is impressive. i'm not a stuffed olive fan but they did have a few plain ones green & kalamata vg baklava is the best i've ever had--perfect ratio of phylo to nuts to honey & when kept refrigerated lasted well over a month(tip: if you do refrigerate just microwave for about 30 seconds & it will take like it just came out of the oven) they have free samples & one was a dip consisting of feta, red pepper sauce & garlic. unique but very tasty & went well with the soft pita chips they sell. customer service is pretty good considering the place is almost always super busy(esp around holidays) if you cant find a parking spot in front or even if you can i'd advise to park in the lot behind always plenty of spaces(& a lot safer then having to blindly back out on the blvd---who came up with this parking idea???) read more

This is a wonderful family operated Greek Store. So many prepared dishes and desserts to choose from. There are also so many different types of olives and cheeses too. And we love the selection of canned goods in the back. The spanakopita, tiropita and tzatziki sauce are always delicious and you have to try the dessert. We love the baklava and kourabiethes cookies. I wanted to relate a story and our gratitude to the family that runs The Greek Store. We try to get here at least once every couple of months or so (a 28 mile drive but so worth it) but hadn't had a chance to lately. Our son and his girl friend were driving back from college yesterday afternoon and had placed an order to pick up some Greek food on the way home (he loves the food as much as my wife and I do). He was running late and called to ask if they could wait a few minutes after closing time. The woman who answered the phone said she had to pick up her kids and couldn't wait but was willing to leave the grocery bag on the bench behind the store even though my son hadn't even paid (he of course promised that he would return today to pay). It is so rare these days to hear stories like this so I had to post. We had a wonderful dinner and dessert thanks to the kindness of the folks at The Greek Store in Kenilworth. read more

It's nice that this store serves a niche in the market that isn't readily available in most towns. You can get everything from hummus to frozen avgolemono to a plethora of olives. In my experience the prepared foods aren't very good. I just ate the pastitcio and it had absolutely no taste at all. None. Blah. Waste of calories. The avgolemono was good (not great) however. If you go for other things such as pita, hummus, olives, or canned foods, it can work. read more

I have been coming here for many years and enjoy many of their unique products. I highly recommend the Taramosalata, probably the best I have ever had and I have had it homemade and from many Greek restaurants. They have a wonderful selection of olives and Greek cheeses. A nice assortment of imported canned goods, tuna and anchovies also olive oils and dry goods. The also have nice fresh breads and the Spanakopita and Tyropita are very good. One of the best stores for prepared Greek food and ingredients in the entire NYC area. If you want to make it yourself, you can buy different types of feta cheese, filo for spanakopita in 2-3 sizes, grape leaves for stuffing, and more. They have excellent spreads, olives and pitas for noshing. If you just want to pop everything into the oven, go straight to the freezers to get pastitio, moussaka, spanakopita and more pre-made in various sizes for parties or dinner for two. The bakery has yummy sweets. The store is family owned and operated and you can peek into the kitchen in the back if you want to see them making the food. My family and I have been coming here for 30+ years and never been disappointed. They also sell Greek merchandise if you need a gift. The parking lot is small but there's additional parking on the street. It's also crowded around the holidays but worth the wait. read more

They also make INCREDIBLE cookies. I am not Greek and all of the cookies looked very foreign to me but the staff let me taste a few and told me a little about each while we decided. I now regularly buy the package of powdered sugar covered cookies in a tin for $8. My kids (6 & 3) love them too. read more
