Although this was the cheapest hostel we could find. I would have rather spent a little more to stay somewhere nicer and more central.
Staff. They were not that friendly and not that helpful. There was only a big bearded man who I saw behind the counter once who was the most helpful.
Bathrooms. They say hot showers, but only in ONE shower of the entire hostel was there hot water. Hot water wasn't a big deal for me, as I've traveled throughout SE Asia, but this is LONDON, not a village in Cambodia. I don't get it. The bathrooms were not clean or well maintained. This might be TMI, but I did not have a proper shower for the four days at this hostel because even when I tried the inside of the shower was disgusting with pubes and it just wasn't worth it. Also, on a Wednesday night two drunk girls peed on the floor in the bathroom (why, I do not know), when I left Friday afternoon the puddle of pee was still there.
Rooms. Three tiered bunks weren't as shaky as you'd expect, but the room stank of pee in the corners and there isn't any room to store your bags or even properly search through your bags for things. I saw other guests bringing their suitcases to the hallway so that they could have room. Another big issue, they had lockers for use in the room, but we thought our locks were to small to keep the lockers locked. Not the case, we were able to open every locker with a large padlock in the room. Not safe.
People. I did like how there was a big lounge area to chillout in and there was a pool table as well. But, wifi was iffy, and I found that most of the people in the hostel were at the hostel to look for a permanent residence in London. So if you're looking to meet friendly, outgoing backpackers, this is not the place.
As I said before, the cheapest we could find, but I would not go back, and I would have rather splurged a bit more on a better place. read more
