I'm not sure what the prices were, but it was a bit under $10 for everything. The lemon brownie was like a lemon square and was simultaneously tart and sweet. It was lovely. The croissant was flaky and tasted fresh. The cookie was a bit too salty for my liking, but wasn't bad. They have gluten-free and keto options too. The man serving us was nice. Worth a visit if you find yourself in Carleton Place, or of course if you live there ;) Street parking only. Of note: Google maps took us to the wrong location and actually to a parking lot nearby for other businesses. The address is on Allan Street so turn on Allan, don't turn southwest on "Mill Street" from Bridge Street like Google Map told us to (Mill Street only runs northeast off Bridge Street, so turning southwest is turning more into an alley way and not really a street).

Plagiarized raps out of the way, here's my review... We heard that CP general store had amazing sticky buns and were further intrigued when rumours circulated that they had the recipe from the OG Packenham General store. We made two attempts to drive the CP to get them but the staff who was there said that they didn't have them at the time we went. I called on a Saturday morning and asked if they could put some aside.... Not only did she put some aside, she was kind enough to remember us and put a bow and ribbon on this really nice gift box for my son. We got a few other things as well, they had cheese sticks, a couple of seltzer type drinks and the butter tarts. Lemme first talk about the butter tarts - they are unlike any other butter tart and I don't think I can get them from anywhere else now - they were so delicious and although sweet, the pack of 6 disappeared over two days. Now for the sticky buns: holy shit so good, you gotta get them! That's all I gotta say - just gooey and delectable! The staff - five star! The entrance is a shared entrance with a gift and antique store so overall a really nice experience. The Carleton Place General Store gets 5 stars from me.

I was greeted by a super nice employee at the store who could have been the owner. It's an Eastern European focused market and deli and they have some great items. A lot of them are low on preservatives and when possible, sourced from somewhere in Canada. There are a lot of meats, fish, frozen food items and caviar. They have a lot of pre packaged snacks and drinks that come from overseas. They even have a local baker who provides them with sour dough daily! I heard they sell out every morning so get their early if you want some really fresh sour dough. I ended up leaving with some frozen perogies made from Montreal and some European Fanta. I later met her friendly husband, from Poland and he is said to be in charge of all the meats. They all looked amazing! I bought a few things and one thing from the meat case was a spicy meat stick. Not all meat sticks are made alike! Yummy! The store was SO clean and new feeling. Everything was well appointed and I went around a few times to see everything. Lots of spices. I bought some spicy spices of course, some perogies, tomato paste, high end dried pasta. Many things are imported, some items are CDN from TO, Montreal and of course there are some homemade things in the deli. There are even a few chairs and tables inside if you want to have lunch here. So, influences from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Italy - this place has you covered. Even fresh caviar! Little frozen cheesecake ice cream bars! Needless to say, a gem, I'll be back.

(Imagine Whitney Houston singing "The Greatest Love of All" for the rest of this review...You know how it goes: "I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside...") Lol. This is big for me, so they kind of already had me from the get go, but personal philosophy aside, the popcorn is also very good. The bag I won was Sriracha Lime flavoured. It had just the right amount of spicy kick and was bursting with flavour. Truth be told, my husband devoured 99% of the bag, lol, and my assessment is pretty much based on licking my finger and scraping up the flavour from the bottom of the bag, haha. Oh, and my husband also told me it was delicious ;) I had never heard of this company before, but I discovered that they are relatively new. They supply popcorn to some local restaurants and bars. They can also put your logo on the bags, so good for brand promotion for an event or something, but also as wedding or party favours. It was fall, so they were offering extra small Halloween bags with a 10-bag minimum order. I thought they'd be perfect and inquired about size, pricing, and if they had any discounts for bulk orders. I got a response the next day from Fiona, the co-owner, and who advised that the extra small bags were roughly 2.5-3 cups of popcorn and that yes, they do give discounts on large orders of small bags, normally starting at 50 bags or more. This wasn't exactly what I was looking for, so I ordered one extra large bag of sweet cinnamon kettle corn and one extra large bag of the seasonal pumpkin spice cookie caramel, with no special stamp needed (free), and delivery to Barrhaven. I also asked if they could advise on expected delivery time. (I was cutting it pretty tight with the baby shower!) Fiona was quick on the response, method of payment, gave me the expected delivery time, and contact number of the other co-owner, Michael, who personally dropped it off himself. There was a bit of a mixup on time (I thought he'd be dropping it off in the morning, but he thought it was in the early evening), but we got it sorted quickly and I got it just in time. The extra large bags hold about 30 cups each. After opening each of the giant paper bags, I saw that one extra large bag equaled one large plus one small bag. I portioned them out into mini cellophane bags I bought and tied on a little personalized baby shower tag with twine. Some has sweet cinnamon kettle corn, some had pumpkin spice cookie caramel, and some had mixed flavours. They went really well together and regardless of what bag people chose, they commented on how delicious the popcorn was. Good thing we had plenty because people kept going back for more!
