The weather was enjoyable in late September and the shaded top deck had 360° views. The crew were friendly and attentive, the boat clean and in good shape. There is a drink menu available online, the prices were reasonable and the selection extensive. Nathan was our guide and we recommend them. They were knowledgeable and got a few laughs out of us. The sites seen along the way were lovely and some only accessible by boat. Passing under the bridges and by nature was made more fun knowing their history, we also saw the effects of the recent flood. We didn't see the distillery, but that might have been a different tour, different season or a result of the flood, but we got to see the singing bridge, which we were told would be deconstructed in time. We had a great time aboard the Kentucky River Boat and would return. Be sure to tip your tour guide as ours added to the experience!

The walking tour is accessible to people of most abilities, with a bit of uneven ground in some spots. Cool, comfortable temperatures. (Maybe have a light sweater.) Cool/interesting history of how the carven transitioned from a massive limestone mining facility that started in the 1930s, to its multiple uses today. The zip-lining looks like a lot of fun, but that was not for us on this day.

This is the only man-made cavern in the area that has a ropes course and zipline in the cavern. The…read moreMega Quest Cavern Challenge is pretty cool, but I would keep your expectations in check. We thought that meant that you'd be exploring and ziplining all through the cavern, but no. It's a ropes course, and the course is pretty small, and you're not really going into the cavern, which is a bummer. They do have a separate zipline tour, which is maybe more adventurous, but I wouldn't know because we didn't do that one. The ropes course is for ages 5 and older. Louisville Mega Cavern also offers a walking cavern tour and a tram tour, plus a drive-through Christmas lights display around the holidays. Be sure to book your activities in advance! This place is very popular and gets very busy. One thing to note is that outside food and drink are supposedly not allowed. (Oops, my bad. I didn't find that out until I had finished my tasty little tuna-and-crackers snack.) They also have lockers to put your things in if you don't have someone hanging back at the tables to hold your stuff.

Upon reaching the door we found it to be locked, but when we looked in the window we saw the owner Marti Lombardo working at her desk. We made eye contact with one another and she smiled. The first sign read "Open Saturdays 10am - 2pm" with another sign below that reading "Open Saturdays for Appointment Only". We figured that we would have to make an appointment for another time so we just decided to look at the few books that they had set up on their outdoor shelves. At this time we turned to see Marti Lombardo jump out of her chair and crawl under her desk in an attempt to hide from us. She was looking around the corner of her desk from the floor to see if we had walked away and was grabbing things from her desktop while still hiding underneath. We never knocked on the door or asked for any service. We were simply looking at the books they had to offer outside, but once Marti saw us, she decided to hide under her desk in an effort not to have any interaction with us for an unknown reason. I feel like this is VERY unprofessional and could have been handled in a completely different manner. Because of this experience we will NEVER be booking anything through Going Places Travel and we will definitely not be recommending this business to anyone.

On "our" block around our hotel, the Indigo (soon to be the Claridge), we had more restaurants than we could visit during our four-day stay. We could catch the taxi right outside our door and quickly get to the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Field Museum. Also, an architectural boat tour along the Chicago River. My friends & I decided to go on the Ghost Walk the last weekend in October which happened to be the…read morelast walk of the season for them . I've been wanting to do this forever and I'm so glad I got the chance to do it with friends . The women that run the business are friendly and definitely have a sense of humor as well as a love for the paranormal. We were given a K2 meter to see if we could pick anything up along our travels . We definitely did pick up more than one blip on the radar . The history of Gratz Park and the surrounding area is super interesting and at times humorous. I think my favorite was the three ugly sisters houses . Although the history of the literacy center makes me want to take another tour and get in that building . You can definitely feel an energy around some of the houses on the tour. The icing on the cake for me was finding out at the end of the tour that at Transylvania University there's actually a mausoleum on the property.

I had a great group - 5 seniors from Florida, a cute couple, and then it was ME. We called everyone by their states they were from. Lol! The staff was awesome and very patient with everyone - there were only about 3 people who were experienced at kayaking, so the "safety" person had to ensure to keep the others on track. I thought it was adorable because he had to prevent the seniors from running into the walls. At the end - everyone had such a great time. #bucketlist Would i do this again - YES! (Definitely will be doing self guided so i can explore the cave solo for 2hrs) Happy exploring!!!

Underground kayaking was such a cool, fun experience! It was my first time kayaking, so I was…read morepretty nervous, but our guide was incredibly patient and kind. He took great photos of each of us and our group. The group was small, which I loved because it never felt rushed. The colorful lights you see as you make your way through the cave are very awesome. Just a heads up, your feet and bottom will get very cold! Definitely wear layers and socks. We went in the summer and were still freezing by the end. Still, it was absolutely one of the best things I've done.
