What an exhilarating time!! Five brave women decided to kayak in a cave. It was so fun and the tour was informative Our tour guides Brandon and Jeffrey were so much fun and so patient with us crazy ladies. It's an hour and a half tour and it's so beautiful and peaceful Highly recommend this place read more

Very unique experience! Our guides Steven and Preston were very helpful and nice, and the cave tour itself was amazing. Cave is 50 degrees and water is 40 however so beware of that if you are going in summer. read more

Had a great time. I wanted to go back immediately and do more. Maybe not for everyone, but I liked the light-show of the headlamps moving behind silhouettes against the cave walls, the quiet except for paddling, the fish, the cool air, everything. I took many still images using video, some quite good. read more

My group of 18 came to enjoy the kayaking through the mines (The kids went on the boat). This place is amazing. How many people can say that they have been kayaking in an abandoned, flooded mine?!? They prepare you with all of the necessary equipment and a quick kayaking lesson. The caves are always around 55 degrees so make sure you wear appropriate clothing. It is a calm, easy paddle so it's family friendly and you don't have to worry about being too crowded in a group. My favorite part was being able to see the massive trout swimming underneath you! And of course it gets creepy when they shut the lights out, you can't even see your hand infront of your face, it's insane! (you can request not to do this for your trip but we really wanted to!) Our tourguide Ingrid was AWESOME! She was loads of fun, had silly jokes and really had fun with our group. read more

1/16/21 Came here for the first time with my friend after hiking to the double arch at the gorge. Dennis and Murphy were our tour guides, and Dennis was very informative and made the experience very interesting and entertaining. I absolutely loved my tour. It was a lot of fun and exhilarating to do this kind of kayaking adventure. They have this nifty cradle like station for kayaks so that you can climb inside without getting wet. Would highly recommend everyone to explore this location. read more

Took family for Christmas. Had great time. Guides Emma and William were super friendly and funny. Highly recommend!

We were not a huge fan of the area, but the experience was very fun. Ran very smooth and guides were kind and efficient. It was a bit cold, so dress accordingly! There also are only portable toilets if you look out for that sort of thing. We did the classic tour and it was pretty nice. read more

Classic Tour with a group of 15. They were very accommodating for a rather large group. Bryson and Reagan are goated. No cap. We had amazing time singing with them in the gorge. Watch out as Bryson may start signing some Sabrina Carpenter. Fun fact-he doesn't like pickles. Teasing them is highly encouraged. It was a really fun tour overall! Kayaks were easy even for beginners. And our guides also fixed a headlamp on the water when it ran out of batteries. Highly recommend! read more

The deluxe clear kayak trip was great. There are a couple different buildings to check in at so follow the signs to the appropriate site (they are close to each other but have different parking lots). There is no current and the paddling is not strenuous at all. You go at a slow pace. It is cold in the cave so dress appropriately as you will not be working up a sweat. We had some neoprene socks to put over our socks and our feet stayed warm and dry. We brought a change of clothes because we thought our clothes would get wet but we stayed dry. We had a hard time hearing our guide in the cave. read more

Great experience doing the classic tour underground kayaking. Such a unique excursion, and one we will encourage friends and family to try. We loved our tour guides Ray and Justin, they were entertaining and always helped us to feel safe while underground. read more

This was the highlight of our girls trip. We got to the location early and got our socks and gloves (highly recommend) and we're greeted by our guides. The guides were fun, knowledgeable and kept us all safe. Groups are small so it felt like we could explore and ask questions even. I highly recommend taking by the Crystal kayak tour if on the fence. It's a unique experience and not something you need to be super fit to do. read more

We had so much fun on the crystal clear kayaking tour!! It was a very relaxed, easy tour. Beautiful inside with the lights and very unique. Our guides were Macie and Walker and they did an excellent job of providing a little history of the mines, answering all our questions, and provided some humor as well. The group was a good size too. I would recommend this in a heartbeat! read more

Spent the weekend in Rogers,KY hiking in the Red River Gorge. Decided to do the kayak tour at the Gorge Underground. We did the hour and a half clear bottom kayak tour through the flooded limestone cavern. Preston was a great guide. Our family of four really enjoyed the tour. Preston was a great guide. This is a fun event for the family. Only downside is they tell you that you have to be there a half hour early and that is not really true. I would get there 10-15 minutes early especially if you have already signed your waiver online. Pay for the pictures up front as they are only $5 if you wait they are $10. They are still worth it. read more

Awesome experience! I was a bit hesitant at first not knowing what I got myself into. However once in the kayak and on the water it was fun. You are provided a life jacket, helmet and headlamp. I would suggest bringing some waterproof gloves. The water is cold so while padding you will get wet. There is enough lighting so the headlamp isn't really needed. Make sure to look down at the water you may get to see some big fish. Have Fun! read more

Absolutely LOVED it! My sister and I went for the crystal kayak tour for my birthday weekend. It definitely made for a memorable birthday. Our guides Christian and Macie were fantastic. What an interesting experience! My boyfriend and I took the Crystal kayak tour tour which was definitely Worth the upgrade from the classic tour. Our tour included professional photos which get emailed to you after When you arrive you wait for your guide who walks you through what to expect, and how to assemble your gear. After you gear up you make your way to this massive black hole (a bit intimidating for someone who dislikes the dark). You use your head lamp to see the walking path until you arrive to the kayaks. We picked the light color we wanted and hopped in. It's pretty chilly in the caves so it's recommended to wear gloves, jacket, and socks! The water was clear throughout the entire tour. We saw a ton of rainbow trout which they import from Michigan. The cave was originally used for mining so you come across some pretty cool stuff that was left behind. All in all our experience was top tier and I recommend this tour for anyone traveling to Red River Gorge! read more

It was amazing doing the tour with William and Cam! William is very humorous and explains details of the cave very well. Cam is helpful on explaining the rules and helping us with the kayaks. Do not book in the winter!! We paid in full for a kayak tour for 1/5 to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, as the day drew closer, a 12"snow and ice storm was projected in the area. I called 3 days before and was rudely (the employee scoffed at me for asking) told it wouldn't be cancelled and all they could offer us if we couldn't make it was a 50% gift certificate. The day before I called back to see if I could reschedule earlier day, because the storm was projected to begin early but most occurring in the afternoon when our tour was scheduled. Realize this place is on rural streets in the mountains. We were delighted when we were told we could reschedule for $10 a person charge. We paid the extra $ and rescheduled for the following weekend. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call on Tuesday saying they were offered anyone scheduled for that weekend a free reschedule because there was an additional 2-4" inches of snow predicted. The day we were originally scheduled we ended up with foot of snow and ice on the ground. Many of the main roads were closed. Yet, we were required to pay extra, while those who were scheduled one week later than us got a free option to reschedule. We still haven't gone because we decided to book for March to hopefully avoid another possible storm and being charged extra fees and irritated by inconsistent weather policies. They can't help the weather but they should be consistent in their policy or at least have it make sense. I did express my frustration when I rebooked about being charged extra when others weren't. The employee said she would let management know. Of course, we never heard from them. Hopefully, we will get to go in March and have a fun time but so far the experience has only been negative and dampened our birthday celebration. read more

Great experience with the actual kayaking and excellent tour guides. However when charging $50 a person for a 50 min ride, TGU should take a little pride in their port a potties and have them cleaned out regularly and have soap available to their customers. Or have clean bathrooms in their gift shop for patrons to use. read more

We loved the tour they offer for the underground cave and thought Captain Rob was fantastic. We learned a great deal and was surprise by all the history this place holds. My friend and I found out about Gorge Underground through the internet and decided to stop through our Kentucky / West Virginia road trip. We had a great time. Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. It is an abandoned, flooded limestone mine from the 1900s. When the lights are off, it is completely dark. The tour guides have big lights and each individual has lights for their head. The amount of time for the tour was perfect, not too short and not too long. What my friend and I wore is pictured below. I wore Under Armour, a long sleeve, and my windbreaker and never felt cold. The only thing I may suggest that I did not bring are gloves if your hands get cold! If you are in the area, I highly recommend! read more

This was the best 25 dollar underground tour I ever took! Unfortunately, it cost me seventy dollars. A little mis-leading on the pre-sell description, but that's okay, I'm married, so I get it. When you hear the story about the Pyramids, there's a subtle mention of a 20 dollar tip. Let's not fall for that. If you need some jokes about underground, grottos, water levels, rainbow trout and missing bodies, email me. It's for sure they don't have any you'd like. read more

Our tour guides, Evan and Mason, took my husband, niece, nephew, and myself on a delightful trip through this limestone mine. They were professional and very polite. Definitely worth it however the colors of the water in the pictures of the advertisement are not accurate it's mostly just lit with white light underwater. The groups I feel should be bit smaller, I could not hear Emma in front because I was new to kayaking. I felt like I'd need to go again to appreciate the cave because all my energy went into not ruining anyine else's experience due to my lack of how to kayak. If you are new don't get in boats first get last so you can be at end of pack and then there is a safety paddle boarder to ensure you are not left behind. read more

This was a kayak tour through an old limestone mine. I couldn't hear the guide at all because of distance from her and others in the group talking. I could hear other guides better than my own guide. So it's basically a float in an old mine. Not really much to see. The equipment didn't seem to be cleaned well after each use. read more
