I was eager to show this place to my girlfriend. My Gran
used to take me here many years ago as a child and Ive always had fond
memories. Well, I was just stunned and horrified by the service and
the utter rudeness we were shown by the staff. It was the lunch hour rush, and the entire cafe was only
seating 2 couples (I now know why), so I asked my girlfriend to grab a front
table by the window. We were promptly told we had to sit at the back of the
cafe by a very sour-faced old woman (we actually wanted to avoid the back as it
looked very smoky with burning chip fat oil) However, apparently cleaning those
particular front tables was in operation (even though there was another couple
sitting there and the tables, windows and mirrors were all just wiped down
before hand). I apologised to the lady and said we will get some cash from the
cash machine, as the cafe doesn't take cards, and come back. Upon our return it appeared the cleaning had been done
(again), there were now 5 tables available, so we took the opportunity to sit
at the front (again), only to be confronted by this unpleasant member of staff
(again!), who came rushing over and very abruptly and rudely told us where to
go! I've told you once before, SIT AT THE BACK!. When I questioned that the
tables had been wiped down, clean and available, it was all she could do from
stopping herself shouting at us and physically removing our coats from the
seats! On our way out, my girlfriend and I mentioned to the obnoxious woman
that it was a very rude way to talk to your customers and all the cleaning had
already been done. She replied with, you are rude, so are you, I TOLD YOU!-
Well.. whatever that means!? We exited and never went back. All I can say is, what nasty stain that incident left after
so many years of holding fond memories. I certainly won't be going here again
and I would advise that you don't either. I see from previous reviewers, im not
the only one that has been treated with utter disrespect and complacency. In
this financial climate, its a dangerous game to play. If losing customers is your game, you are winning. read more
