Have played here a number of times in support of an annual fundraiser for the Summit School in…read moreEdgewater. Each hole is a replica of a hole at well known golf courses (Sawgrass, Cherry Hills, Augusta National, etc.). They do a great job of taking each one of the holes together to make a great experience. I have typically been there in October and the course has been consistently in great condition. The greens are very fast and challenging. Probably one of the more difficult courses I have played. The staff have been consistently friendly and helpful. I always look forward to my opportunities to play here.

They have a large driving range, a small chipping/pitching area, a practice putting green, and a wonderful 18 hole course. The property is very picturesque; I love going after working to get in 9 holes before sunset or get in some practice. The great: 1) They offer a monthly development program called "PDP" - you pay $76 a month to have several benefits including free balls at the range anytime, access to a members only range (with covered hitting areas), $20 rounds of golf anytime after 2pm, discounted rounds of golf most other times, and discounts in the pro shop. You make your money back in 4ish trips to the range alone - add in a round or two throughout the month and you've made out like a bandit. I signed up for PDP this month and it's really been great. The good: 1) The course is really nice, but also very challenging. The fairways and greens are always in very solid shape. The are some very picturesque holes that make for a lovely round of golf. The course is very hilly and aggressively sloped which adds to the challenge. If you can survive a round here, you'll be great at other places. 2) The staff are really friendly and helpful. After visiting just 3-4 times in may, quite a few already know my name and exchange pleasantries as I walk around the property. 3) Small detail but I love that golf carts have touch screens that offer information/distance about the hole you're on. Don't need a range finder when one is built into the cart. Needs improvement: 1) The range itself is spacious and I like that there are no mats (makes the practice translate to the course). The hitting area is often littered with divots which makes it hard to find a clear surface for my own practice. Secondly, not having distance markers on the range flags is a real drawback - it's difficult to tell the distance of my clubs (for more accurate play on the course). Pro tip: - Course and facilities are nice and open on Mondays - Wednesdays as well as Sunday mornings. Be prepared for longer rounds if you visit on Thurs-Sundays. I recommend a quick round on evening weekdays (My foursome got 18 holes in on a Monday evening 4:30p - 7:45ish).

I was a member of this club for 10 years and left for many of the same reasons 100s of members…read moreleft. Great facility, great course but they just can't get out of their own way. There are some great people associated with this club but there is still a small contingent that just don't get it. I stopped by to visit some friends who were there to play in a senior A team match. I watched as they were ridiculed for requesting separate golf carts for social distancing. Not only was their request denied but one gentleman proclaimed that Covid was a "hoax". Really? Without touching on the ignorance of the comment, It's just another example of why this club has had a history of financial trouble and bad operational decisions. Every club, private or public relies on outside events to supplement their income. Treating guest of the club this way is not a good business practice regardless of ones opinion of Covid. One can be sure that these four guests will share their experience with others and it won't reflect well on The Cannon Club. And, that is unfortunate because I would love to see this club leave the past behind and succeed.

Quicken Tournament Review:…read more Kyle Stanley is the 2017 Quicken Loan Champion. We received an invitation to come watch the tourney & hang out in one of the VIP tents...it was good times. The Par 70 golf course is situated in the middle or amongst Avenel Farm, providing regal views of the residential, equestrian, swimming & tennis amenities. The landscape & upkeep was impressive throughout the golf course & surrounding greenery. The staff inside our tent were extremely hospitable, especially during the interment rain fall as they reset as many times necessary to accommodate everyone. The food & beverages were decent. I even popped my head into the Mad House to look around & the employees on hand were just as friendly. The only negative point of our visit was the interaction with the red shirt staff at the main entrance to the tourney if you did not have a parking pass...we opted to take Uber. Aside from their constant screaming that they work for the Tiger Woods Foundation, they were rude & boisterous to the Courtesy Shuttle Operators & individuals seeking assistance. Other than that, it was an enjoyable & entertaining 1st visit to watch championship golf.

This was our second year at Queenstown Harbor for 3 days. We had 6 golfers in 3 bungalows. As…read moreusual check-in was painless and the bungalows are so comfortable for each visitor. The River and Lakes golf courses were kept in great condition and very challenging. The Queenstown Harbor location was also very convenient to a number and variety of very good, local restaurants. Most of all, all the Queesntown Harbor employees were so courteous and responsive to us...they are certainly customer focused!

After some research, I thought @GolfHouse would be a great first experience for him since they offer junior coaching and it's similar to a video game. When I emailed them with questions, they were the most quick and complete in response than any of the other Ashburn area courses. At this point we're 3 sessions in. Coach Ju Hee is very professional and confident, but has just the right style to keep my 10 year old engaged. In each session she has walked the line effectively between correcting swing issues and helping him understand how the game works, while also keeping it fun and engaging for him, which is probably the most important part at this point. The sessions involved 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time in the bay which I'll sometimes use to take a few swings with my son. So far, this seems to be the right mix. Coach also shared the before/after swing photo I posted from session 2. While I'm not sure if other local coaches have this type of tech, I think this is a significant advantage because of the real-time feedback and insight it gives her into exactly what is happening. It's also great for us to see the progress he's making. Overall, I definitely would recommend @GolfHouse and Coach Ju Hee for lessons. At some point I'll probably book a bay with some of my friends who are more serious golfers during a lesson and see what they think about it.

And I think the more intimate and quiet nature of the scenery makes it the better choice. We recently visited for mini-golf with our 9yo, and we all had a blast! The course is nicely challenging for very amateur players like ourselves, but not too difficult to be frustrating. Everyone had a wonderful time. The course itself isn't the shiniest and might be due for some TLC. But, it's clearly been renovated over the years. It does not have decades of wear and tear showing. The tee-off pads looks fairly new, and the greens aren't tattered or anything. It's a nice escape for a family outing. Whether you need golf supplies, want to practice your drive, or fancy a round of putt-putt, this is a wonderful destination!

I can only attest to the experience that we've had when we were playing after 3 PM. It's not crowded so don't have to go through that annoying wait until the crowd in front of us is done. The grass was cut clean and they are really good about taking out the tees out of the grass... LOL I couldn't find any free tees on the ground. The only "negative" I would say is that the green is on the slower side and I think it's because of the grass. It seems a little rougher than what I'm used to. Either way, I'm always down for $14 late afternoon 9 hole at this place. I would recommend this course for sure.

They have some construction going on currently. A couple of holes are shortened due to the construction. Fairways are well maintained and greens were rolling well too. I had a great front nine, but plateaued in the back nine. It's not too difficult of a course as they don't have many penalties. Even if you don't drive straight, you could be in play to make a par.
