This was our second year at Queenstown Harbor for 3 days. We had 6 golfers in 3 bungalows. As usual check-in was painless and the bungalows are so comfortable for each visitor. The River and Lakes golf courses were kept in great condition and very challenging. The Queenstown Harbor location was also very convenient to a number and variety of very good, local restaurants. The view is fantastic, the cottage accommodations are great, the QH staff is extremely helpful, and the golf courses cannot be better! We all enjoy relaxing around the fire pit and sampling cigars and bourbon--male bonding at its best! I've played both courses and they are both always in great shape. The river course is my favorite of the pair and presents a great challenge and scenic views. Staff is always friendly. Everyone from the proshop, bar, Marshalls, and golf cart crew. On hot days they pass out ice cold towels and will happily fill your water bottle with ice water. read more

We had an outing here in September of 2023 and the course was in FANTASTIC shape. The amenities are perfect for group golf outings and the staff are readily available via both in person and on the phone for any issues at hand. The costs are competitive and reasonable and the pavilion area is great for the group after parties. We'll for sure be coming back. read more

I have played this course a few times now and every time it is amazing. Two really nice courses. They are always in great shape and have some really cool views, especially the river course. I recently did a big outing there with 30 golfers and the staff was very helpful and responsive in coordinating. Booked five tee times. They had carts lined up when we arrived. They know how to treat customers. Played both courses. Lakes is a little easier then the River. You need to score well on the front as the back gets more challenging. The River course is all you can handle, but a fair test for the more accomplished golfer. Especially playing the back tees. It's clear they take pride in these courses as they were in beautiful shape. read more

We had a 24 player outing which the pro shop staff was able to perfectly service. They had carts ready to go for us when we pulled our 2 boats up, helped us set up closest to the pin and longest drive competitions, and had name plates for each cart. Can't say enough about Queenstown Golf Course and the service provided by Ron and staff. I hosted a small golf outing with about 32 golfers and they were able to accommodate and make the experience seamless. As an avid golfer, I've play a lot of courses throughout Maryland and I would rate Queenstown as one of the best in the state, especially for being open to the public. read more

We recently had a small tournament of 59 players for charity and it couldn't have went smoother . Ron Rutter was a pleasure to deal with and had everything in order so the day of we could just play golf , staff was great as always and the course was in great shape . The staff / facility and golf course conditions were great except for one issue. Some of the green side bunkers were horrendous. We played a Md state qualifier here. My playing partner hit a black drainage pipe on 16 and I hit staples on 17. Other than that it's a 5 star so I took a star away. A must play though. Back 9 lakes is best 9 on premises read more

This review is for the River course and the cottages. The river course is my favourite place to place in the DC VA MD area aside from Raspberry. It's in great shape beautifully laid out and fun to play. We stayed at the cottages and enjoyed the fire pits - the houses are well stocked with everything you need, clean and charming. Great place for a family getaway especially when trying to keep everyone outside as much as possible. read more

I love this track. Played here over the holiday weekend, and two of my buddies played it for the first time. They both couldn't wait to get back. It was even worth the brutal traffic back across the Bay Bridge as well. Two courses, I have only played the River course but it is fantastic. The Lakes course looks nice from the highway and driveway, but again I haven't played it. On the River, several holes overlook the Chester River/Chesapeake Bay. Most holes have some space off the tees, but that may put less than driver in your hands. #4 is a great example as there is a lot of water visible off the tee, but not near the green. You can try and hit driver straight towards the green, but the payoff isn't really justified. A long iron to the fat part of the fairway is the play, but the more aggressive line you take off the tee, the more water comes into play. Just a lot of risk/reward lines to take off each tee. The River is very playable for all levels and I may walk it next time. There is some distance between a couple of holes but the terrain is flat. There is a great collection of par 3s on this track, and one dogleg left par 5 (#5) that ends with a view of the river/bay is stunning. Just a fantastic layout through and through. Pro shop is well stocked and I have found a great deal every time I have looked around. Food is just okay and a little pricey. The people have always been extremely nice from the moment you arrive. The range is smallish and you are usually hitting off mats. There is a small putting green next to the range and a larger one near the first tee box for the River Course. Queenstown Harbor might be a destination for me but one I will try and make every year. There is a set of outlets across the entrance by the way. read more

Love this course! Every year my family has a fundraiser here to raise money to find a cure for ALS. Each year the tournament goes off without a hitch even when we get bad weather the workers handle it well! We are going on are 11 year now, and don't have any plans to stop soon. The course itself is beautiful and great to play on. The venue is great for a fundraiser- open space and good tent! When it rains they can put the sides down so nothing bothers you! You can also bring your own vendors in for food that's always a nice option with places like this. If you have any work event or something of this sort I highly recommend coming here! read more

There are two very nice courses at Queenstown Harbor - and both merit the 65 min drive from Calvert County a couple of times a year. Played the nicer (& more expensive) River today in spite of recent aeration; was okay with $65 rate for such a nice layout on a very good weather day for late March. Everyone in pro shop and starter area were very nice, and very helpful. Only downside to the service in the clubhouse was they were only selling snacks, no hot dogs or sandwiches because "we just don't know how much food we are going to need" (during early season). Well it was a nice Spring day with a full parking lot and both courses packed, so having a few options would've been a good idea. In spite of busy day I have to say the pace of play was decent (less than 4.5 hrs); just a short wait for most but not all shots, to be expected for a challenging course; and I didn't feel like we were holding the group behind us up until the last 4 holes or so. Regarding the River course itself, I should've improvised and created my own Blended Tees (which I'll try to remember next time; or I'll just stick with the more friendly Lakes course). I'm currently a 13 handicap and really prefer to play ~6,000 to ~6,500 yds (with ~6250 ideal). Since the 5861 Golds (68.7/118) are well below that I opted for the 6568 Blues (71.6/132) which was fine until the wind picked up on the back nine. Suggestion for those like me: Play Golds for the 3-pars and 4-pars and move back to Blues for the 5-pars, which would create a very nice 6152 layout (assuming all tees are in right places), with four 5-pars averaging 534 yds instead of 461 yds - and an interpolated rating/slope of 69.9/124. Looking forward to returning (when greens have recovered from aeration). read more

Wow. This course was beautiful. I was here for a business outing and enjoyed myself immensely. One of the holes featured a look at where the national anthem song was written from. We saw deer on many of the holes, completing an incredibly scenic 18 holes. read more

Coming from Alexandria, va or dc area, this is a bit of a hike. But, iIt's the first course you will find when you cross the bay bridge. It's located inside a residential area in Queenstown. There are 2 courses - river and lake course. I only played the river course which I absolutely recommend. I heard that the lake course has more water hazard and doesn't have much of a view of the Chesapeake bay. The driving range is on the mat. There's also a non-chipping practice putting green near it. There's another practice putting green closer to the club where you can chip and putt. The staff is very friendly. The pro shop has great selections on both men and women golf products. The course is well kept. The layout is for all levels. I usually loose my balls in a water hazard. Lol. But the view of the Chesapeake is phenomenal, you would see it on the hole 2 which is a par 3 (and i think hole 15 on the green, par 5) I see the cart/beer girl comes in every 4 holes (my estimate). Ok selection of beer (they have miller lite, I'm satisfied :) In terms of food, I never really ate the food off the club house but their hotdogs are awesome which I get after the 9th hole and eat it on the 11th hole. The green fees are decently priced ($110 on weekends) but, if you want a cheaper rate, you can always go do the twilight which I believe is teeing after 2pm ($79 on weekends). This course is a great overall course. I always love playing this course. read more

Played here on July 19 and came away impressed with the River course. The course was in immaculate condition despite sweltering temps that threatened to burn the grass. There was hardly a dry patch of grass on either the tee box, fairway or green. The course was challenging, but not unnecessarily punishing. And the staff was friendly and accommodating. The one gripe I have is the difficulty in finding consistent and reliable yardage markers on the course. No one told us that a large rock on each hole means that your ball is 150 yards from the middle of the green, but we figured it out anyway. The yardage markers seemed sparse, and without GPS on the carts, my friends and I were forced to return to the clubhouse after hole #4 and buy a yardage book. And then my friend downloaded a Queenstown Harbor app to his Android and was able to use the GPS on the app to get correct yardage. Otherwise, however, we enjoyed our round out there and would definitely return even though we live about 90 minutes away. read more

I have only played the River course numerous times over the past few years. It's one of the most beautiful courses in the Mid Atlantic and a really solid layout. I have always enjoyed playing Queenstown until today. Granted, it was pretty booked, but that is all the more reason what happened was not acceptable. We were a foursome behind a threesome. They were good players and have to believe they knew what they were doing was not ready golf and that their pace of play was stacking up 4-5 groups behind them if not more. They were very slow on the tee, in the fairway and on the green and at best were a hole and a half behind the entire back nine. A marshal sat and watched them play their approaches to a hole and putt out as well as hit their tee shots on the next hole. He also saw the backup -- but he didn't put them on the clock or tell them to pick up the pace -- he just sat and watched. I have played hundreds of rounds. I have never seen a group that hit the majority of greens and fairways and still be so slow. We finished in 5 hours. Our group dropped over $400 -- our group as well as every other group should be able to expect less than 5 hours at a premium course. I understand that isn't always possible -- but the staff at the course need to at least try and manage pace of play. It's a great course and would like to play Queenstown again, but there are a lot of other great courses in the Mid Atlantic that also understand the importance of pace of play and manage the course and players to keep up the pace of play. My other experiences were all 4 stars -- today was 1.5 stars, so overall I am rating the course 3 stars. read more

I am not a great golfer, I aspire to be one. That said I've played all over the US and Ireland. I'd start with the easy part ; the course conditions. To put it lightly this course is currently in better shape than most private member only clubs I've played and other public gems such as Bethpage Black, Ballybunion and Lahinch of Ireland. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were the best! Pace of play was good, tons of wild life including wild turkeys, blue heron and deer galore and the makeshift grill due to Coronavirus was well stocked with cocktails and fresh burgers and hotdogs. Really nice course but had a underwhelming experience this past weekend. Course was too wet to play but still charged full price. Most courses when they know their course won't be as enjoyable due to conditions, usually lower their rates. Not this course. Full price for swamps for fairways, lost balls in the fairways due to the swampy conditions. You could hit a 275-300 yrs drive down the middle of the fairway and lose a ball not to mention ruin your golf shoes due to being up to your ankles in mud. Also had two groups for a bachelor party scheduled two weeks advance. Would have been nice to have been notified in advance or when we were paying of the course conditions. For the money, I expect more service. Probably will not return. read more

I loved this place. Great service, almost like a country club. The facilities are very new and clean too. Course is in incredible shape. Driving range complementary with greens fee. Two courses, River and Lakes. I played the River course which is a couple dollar more, but it was worth it. The Lakes course is a links style course I believe which I would love to try one day. I have played here several times. It has pros and cons: Pros: The course is usually in excellent condition. They have 2 beautiful courses - river and lakes. The river is more expensive and reservations are needed in advance. Very nice café and the counter staff is wonderful. Cons: I don't know if it's me or what, but every time I come here, the guy at the bag drop puts just my bag on backwards - not my husbands - just mine. The first time I didn't notice and my clubs fell off the cart onto the cart path. I was pissed - brand new Pings. This last time, I checked before I moved the cart and sure enough - backwards. If your job is to put the bags on the cart, know that the pockets are facing out. Before we left the starter, I asked if anyone was behind us because I had not played in a year - recovering from a shoulder injury. He said no. Sure enough by the time we finished the hole, a lone player was crawling up us and we had to let him play through. Starter - know your players and don't bunch us up. I had a tee time. I left the starter 15 minutes early. There is no reason that should have happened except for laziness. It's expensive to play here. A little more care should be provided to the players to make their experience better. My favorite was on 17 when a cart with 2 guys and 2 very small children asked to play through. Why are small children under the age of 3 on the course? So not appropriate. read more

This is our 6th year having our annual family reunion golf tournament at Queenstown Harbor. Great staff. Nice courses well maintained. This review is for the River. Great course and always fun, but this year for some odd reason there is little sand in most traps and hardly any ball washers! The few ball washers that are there have no water in them! For the money they collect you would think they could buy some sand and the ball washer thing is inexplicable. read more

We booked a weekend at Queenstown to play golf with our 8 and 12 year old boys and then to stay at one of the Cottages for the weekend with a group of friends and family. We had an amazing time and I can't wait to do it again. A few specifics to note: 1) The golf pro was amazing with our 2 boys. They had never played before and he was patient and engaging. By the end of the 1 hour lesson both boys felt comfortable enough to play a round of golf (9 holes). 2) We played the River Course with our boys and it was the most beautiful and fun course to play. The boys didn't want to stop at hole 9 and they did a pretty good job considering there is a lot of water and marshes to lose your ball :). There were deer on the course with us at one point and it was just incredible. 3) We stayed at the Corsica Cottage and the house and views were beyond expectations. We cooked most of our meals at the house (though they do have a chef on site that can prepare meals while you are out playing golf and we will definitely do this next time at least for one meal) and found there to be plenty of cookware and dishes to meet the needs of 16 people. Plus a great big grill on the porch. We did do one lunch at Bridges Restaurant about 12 minutes away (by car) which was delicious and we ate at the golf club bar 1x and it was SOOOOO good. We were very surprised and the prices were reasonable. 4) We brought corn hole, footballs and lots of games to entertain everyone, as there isn't a lot to do onsite except golf. We did have to be quiet when people were playing the hole that was directly across from the house, but it wasn't a big deal. I would highly recommend this as a vacation/staycation experience for golfers and non-golfers. Very beautiful and peaceful and the staff at Queenstown Harbor Golf are EXCEPTIONAL. read more

Could be a 5 depending on the conditions during your round. The grass is usually excellent, the setting is beautiful, they have 2 excellent courses to choose from, each with a variety of hole types, a free practice range, and while not the cheapest in the area, the price won't break the bank. Too bad it's on the Eastern Shore, but it is worth the 20-30 minute drive from Annapolis. I play it about 5-6 times a year. read more

The River Course is certainly scenic with some well designed water holes and terrific views of the Chesapeake Bay. The par fives are the best holes on the course, requiring thoughtful placement in addition to length from the backs. That said, the River Course is just not that interesting or memorable, i.e., the par 3's were - compared to the par 5's - lacking in any creativity. The pro shop is well stocked with nice folks at front desk. Overall, the course layout is average and the playability is average to good. On the other hand, overall conditioning is four star. This would be a nice place for a corporate outing. I played with recently punched greens, so I would like to have a crack at this place again with fast greens. read more
