We ordered a substantial amount of take out from The Golden Wok here on a Saturday night, for a family gathering. I have to say - the order was correct, but the quality was blah and I was disappointed in how our food was packaged for pickup. The crab rangoon was under cooked, that left the shell soft and too light of a color. The pan fried noodles were included with the sauce in the container so they were not crispy, or enjoyable, upon arrival. Nothing was marked, so we had to figure out what was what by the sniff test. Each dish looked like the same dark pile of mess as the next - except for the orange chicken. They included orange slices. The teriyaki chicken was NOT as expected. Though the large slices of zucchini did look good. No crispy chips were given with the two large orders of egg drop soup. One single solitary packet of hot mustard, among 20 packets of soy sauce, for 3 orders of crab rangoon. What a waste. They did remember to include chopsticks, and my requested hot oil. The mongolian beef was on a bed of fried rice noodle remnants. So soggy and decentigraded, they should have skipped them if they weren't going to put on the side. I worked in a small family Chinese restaurant for 6 years, waiting tables, packing takeout and making dumplings. It's simply sheer laziness to have complete disregard for the dishes they made for us. The lack of attention to detail or consideration for packing take out orders speaks a lot about the care for their food and their customer satisfaction. If you order from here, be very specific about what to separate and include in your order, unless you don't mind a soggy mess. read more

This is my first time here. The atmosphere is simple, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. Good food at a reasonable price. I liked that you could order just about anything as a combo and get a little smaller portion. I still had a leftovers, and that's fine, but it was a nice option not to have a heaping plate. Their egg drop soup was very good. Our little waitress called my dish by the wrong name when she served it. I questioned her about it, and she apologize forgiving at the wrong name. what I appreciated is she went back to the kitchen just to double-check and make sure she hadn't put in the wrong order or they hadn't given her the wrong food. I think the only downfall we were at a table near the cashiers, and their phone was terribly loud when it rang and you heard it from two places. A good basic meal. I'm new to town and decided to try here for chinese food, as it is my favorite. I ordered crab rangoon and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. Everything is reasonably priced but it just.. wasn't good. The chicken was good itself but the sauce was weird tasting and honestly i'd rather make chinese food from the frozen section. The crab rangoons were not what they are at any other restaurant. The filling was really liquidy and just not at all what it should've been. I'd recommend going somewhere else unless chinese food is not your favorite anyways. read more

Nice atmosphere and consistently good food. Fried rice is excellent, as is their wonton soup. They have a larger selection of soups than most Chinese restaurants. My favorite dish is the broccoli chicken. The chicken is always tender and the vegetables cooked to perfection. Friendly, family owned place and free wifi. My only gripe is that they don't offer gluten free on the menu, but they will make dishes gluten free (sans soy sauce) upon request. read more

This is my first time eating Chinese food in Adrian and I pray to god there is another Chinese restaurant in this city. I ordered an appetizer combo (crab Rangoon, egg roll, wontons) and my first complaint was that I thought they brought me a spring roll instead of an egg roll but I didn't want to pester them so I just took a bite and left the rest. I hate spring rolls lol. Next was the awful sweet and sour sauce. It tastes like pure sour sauce. I couldn't stomach it. I've been to so so so many Chinese restaurants and I've never in my life tasted sweet and sour like this. Next I ordered "general chicken" and after my first bite I decided this wasn't anything like general chicken I've had any place else. Once again.....awful. It was like they had no idea how to make sauces here. Oh and by the way the way... my "spring roll" actually was their version of an egg roll. Weird because it tasted and had everything that a spring roll would have in it. So disappointed in my meal. It was okay, probably slightly above average compared to most Chinese places, especially in a smaller town like Adrian. The egg drop soup was too much cornstarch, chicken broth and egg, not that great. Consistency was getting close to pudding. I was able to "fix" it somewhat by adding a little soy sauce and pepper so it tasted more like egg drop soup. The rest of the food was pretty decent, run of the mill chinese food. Nothing too special, I liked that the fried rice was actual fried rice and actually had vegetables and stuff in it. The interior was nice. If you're looking for non buffet sit down Chinese this would work. Just don't expect to be blown away. read more

Horrible customer service! Ordered pick up with a bunch of coworkers (8+ orders) and my two vegetable rolls never made it into the boxes they came back to work. (Only one extra regular egg roll made it into the box.) So I simply called to ask if I could get my two vegetable rolls made so I could pick them up after work seeing as I did not get my food. The waitress I spoke to said no problem then the OWNER proceeded to get on the phone (and rudely speak to me) telling me that only 1 roll was ordered, then said that there was no order ever placed for just vegetable rolls, then said egg rolls and vegetable rolls are the SAME THING! (Mind you, I don't eat meat, I will not eat regular egg rolls as it contains either pork or shrimp.) The third man on the phone tries to tell me that I was also overcharged and that the wait staff took the order wrong and that only one was ordered and that I did get my food so I can not get my veggie rolls made in replacement! WHY WOULD I CALL IF I GOT MY CORRECT FOOD?! I was charged for two vegetable rolls PLUS I tipped on my carry out order! This is absolutely mind boggling to me, I ordered vegetable rolls, not even an entire meal, I never asked for a refund or money back, I just asked for something that I NEVER GOT to be replaced that I could eat what I already payed for. Incredibly money hungry and stingy their solution was a credit of $2.00... I told them to keep their money. Insanely pathetic, I will NEVER be returning to Golden Wok. read more

Terrible customer service at this place. The owner obviously does not want to grow this business, she wants things her way and if you don't like it, then too bad. Overheard a customer, paying for his take out, that he orders exactly the same every time and he questioned why it was more this time. Owner argued with him, that "maybe you not come here for long time, prices change". He said "I was just here two weeks ago, did prices change since then?". She said no, but kept arguing. Finally she took time to try to figure it out, and found that her worker, who took the order, incorrectly wrote the order for 2 appetizer egg rolls (which listed on the menu states an order of appetizer egg rolls equals 2), which was a total of four. Instead of what he always ordered, which was only 2 egg rolls (1 order). She wouldn't remove the mistake from the bag or the bill, and made him pay for them. [fyi, I'm only writing this review now, because this isn't the first time I've watch this situation go on at this restaurant, but didn't previously post. When I questioned the waitress if I had received the correct plate, she had no idea. She said she didn't eat there and didn't know what was suppose to be in Mongolian Chicken. Everywhere I have eaten Mongolian (Beef, Chicken, or Pork), the basis of the dish is the meat and lots of sauted onion, with a brown(ish) sauce. It may vary slightly, from restaurant to restaurant, but not by much. This dish had all kinds of vegetables, tons of garlic, and a reddish sauce. When the waitress sent the owner over, the owner tells me that "every other restaurant make this dish, but we call something different." ......Um, O K..... and how was I suppose to know that from the menu, that gave NO description of the item (so I'm assuming I was ordering the "every restaurant Mongolian"). "You want Mongolian like other restaurants, you should have ordered Scallion Chicken". Not once did she apologies, ask if they could correct the item, offer to remove or at least discount the item from the bill, NOTHING. Again, worst customer service, and unbending owner. Have been to a lot of Chinese places and really like this one. We ate there tonight and had a great meal. The fried wonton soup started out the meal and Almond Chicken and Shrimp with Lobster sauce was the other one. Kids had Chicken wings and fries they ate it all and said we want to come here again.
