I haven't been there in a long time so possibly something has changed. About 20 years I had a lot of beautiful designer jewelry but I ran into hard times leaving work because of a disability. I went there to hawk some pieces hoping to get them back. What should have stopped me...they didn't know what stones were in my pieces. I had a beautiful blue zircon ring with a carat of diamonds, they low balled me. I questioned it...they thought it was a blue topaz...way big difference in price. Another one was a rose gold band with sapphires, tsavorites, pariaba stones. They had no idea. I came in with a flower ring, gorgeous ruby and diamonds. They were flipping over that one. Their telling me how outstanding the rubies were and how high quality the diamonds were. Well, the rubies were simulated...diamonds were high quality cubics. I was just looking for money for the weight of the 14k gold. Everytime I went I had tell them what the stone was. I had studied under a gemologist. There's more but you get the drift. What killed me the most and still does. I had my mother's engagement ring. I never would sell it. She put it on my finger when she had a stroke. I never took it off. I needed to have it sized so a friend recommened a jeweler's bldg in Boston and suggested I get appraised. He noticed the stone was loose and suggested to get it reset. He was honest...not selling me anything. The stone was close to perfect as my mother had told me. He appraised it for $4000. Going forward...living in a condo there was a special assestment. Being out of work, I couldn't afford it. I wanted to keep this ring in my family so I offered it to a family to help me. I gave her the appraisal. She got one from Gold Mine. $800+ but she gave me $1000 for it. I don't blame her because she trusted these people. Every friend I have screamed at me about this. Unfortunately I was desperate. I did go back to the jeweler in Boston. He had his pictures. He stuck by his appraisal. Who would you trust? The Gold Mine or a reputable jeweler in Boston. It finally went (not as a ring) to a relative who never gave my mom a Christmas gift on her own. Please be careful, know the value of your jewelry before you go in. Try Tobey's on Shirley Ave in Revere for repairs. I cannot imagine how much they sold my other pieces for. read more

Piece of shit gold and employees. I have purchased 4 different items from here. I got a fígaro chain, a emblem to go with it. I also purchased an emerald white gold cross and a fígaro gold bracelet. I decided to sell a gold emerald ring I had because I needed the money for bills at the time, I even explained that. All they gave me was $40. Went back today to see my ring with the same weight and size, priced at $599.00 I'm starting to realize everything I have purchased there was probably not even half the price I had to pay. Please save your money and don't shop at some sketchy "Gold Mine" in Chelsea. I suggest checking out Montes Jewelry which is located just 5 mins up the street from this crap. I am quite sure that many reading this review will think it to be phony but let me assure you that what I am about to write actually happened to me TODAY. This store handles only fine jewelry but I have a nice piece of costume jewelry that is very special to me for sentimental reasons and one of the strands had broken. I lost some of the stones but strung together enough to make it wearable if the jeweler could just attach it for me somehow. I live on a budget but didn't ask how much as I felt trust immediately. Paula Andrea Osorio took the time to not only repair the piece but put on the tiniest beads that I had saved but didn't attempt to string. Here's the kicker...she did it for FREE. I left with tears in my eyes. Who does this type of thing today? I thank you Paula not only for your act of kindness but for restoring my faith in small business. I have been going to the Gold mine since 1982 and still have the very first ring I bought from the owner . I have seen his sons grow up a now handle the store. Steven is a very honest merchant and the staff are polite and always have a smile and a kind word for all. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of rings,earrings and braclets. they are very reasonable in their pricing. read more

If it is watch repair avoid this place. They are courteous, but [watch repair] is performed incompetently.

I had some gold from a previous relationship that I wanted to sell. After checking 2 other stores in the area, the Gold Mine offered me the best price. I sold them the jewelry and took my new husband out to diner with the money. read more
