We send our kids here and think it's excellent. The teachers are outgoing and really help kids learn. It's clean and neat inside with lots of room for kids to recreate. I would recommend the Goddard School Wayne! read more

Our family loves The Goddard School! My kids are learning so much, they love their teachers and their friends. The facility is clean, safe, welcoming, fun and educational. Especially the STEAM lab! my son started going here in April and we started looking at alternatives after only two months. we feel that we were sales pitched to get us in the door and then were not met to those expectations once we officially began. at the open house we were shown the room that he would be in, met really nice owners & teachers. once he began the interpersonal skills of the staff and owners were less then moderate and he ended up not being in that room (something we found out later). simple things like how are you? would receive a one word response of "Good" with no eye contact or reciprocity, updates on my son were brief and with minimal details, even when prying. the most telling part of this decision to switch was during the parent/teacher conferences. where i found out, he was not in the room we were shown and my child was called "strange and weird" for not playing with other children but parallel play only. My son suffers from a speech delay & has been in quarantine since 18 months old due to COVID and high risk family members so he is a bit behind. In addition to this extremely rude and uncalled for description of my son I was handed a piece of paper saying that his hours would shift for the summer from 9-1 and not the normal 8:30-12:30 as normal. Again with NO communication. When approaching admin about this they said "oh so you want to pick him up early?" No I don't want to pick him up early and pay for a half hour of service that I won't receive, I want the hours to stay the same. a half hour difference may not seem like a lot but with speech therapy scheduled at 1 pm on daycare days this was a big deal. a conversation was had with the owner about all of this who was very professional about it and apologetic but then the next time we saw her, no eye contact was made after asking how she was, and again, no reciprocity. the final straw was on june 2, my son was switched to a different room, different teachers, went from 7 kids to 19 kids in a room, due to covid restrictions being lifted, and they thought it was a great idea to start potty training my child without informing us of starting. We found out on 6/14 only because a poorly worded note was written to tell us that he was doing well but now refusing to even go in the bathroom and "losing it". Unacceptable and again, NO communication. A child who has been in quarantine for a long time already had a major shift in changing rooms and surroundings, but we thought it was a good idea to start potty training him on top of it? Ridiculous. we left quietly and my son never returned after 6/14. we did not communicate the issue of potty training with anyone but the teacher bc clearly our conversations with administration have always been looked down upon. We did not receive one phone call from any owners to check in and ask how he was doing or why he didn't come back after that day. we picked up his things and they were handed out the door with zero words and zero eye contact as usual. We did not feel welcomed, things were done without our consent, and we will NEVER be returning to or recommending this institution. read more

MISREPRESENTED INFANT PROGRAM-DO NOT RECOMMEND LEAVING A NON SPEAKING CHILD HERE!!!!! The idea of a franchise is that you get the same service and programs at each one despite the location. Unfortunately, all I could do is call the corporate office and tell them what my experience was at this site. This was to say the least one of the problems. The infant program is a full class and the staff is inexperienced to handle the volume of needs of various ages; newborn to an walking almost one year old (that kept interrupting and walking on her own to another class) Should have moved her as she was too big for the other kids in the class but the teacher was 'attached'. I observed the class for a couple of days to get my baby used to the setting. I LITERALLY RAN OUT!!!! I had no words at the time as I was heartbroken that babies were left crying in the cribs for an obscene amount of time, 'teachers' had colorful commentary on the children's attitude and parents care of their children. The idea of the program is the leave children on the floor playing and falling over- that would be fine if you picked them up in a timely fashion. It was so sad, I watched parents drop off their children, be reassured they are in good hands and over 2 plus hours children sat in the same seat (a diaper change here and there). Totally inexperienced staff, lack of proper care but, it goes top down. Kim the owner stands behind her infant program after hearing my experience so much that she refused to give me back any money so I can find another day care but kept the funds and wouldn't even return a phone call. Josephine was not helpful.(i'm being nice). A lot more happened in that classroom, let's just say, I DO NOT RECOMMEND you leaving a child that cannot speak in this facility as you should know everything that goes on there because they are not truthful and very misrepresented. In the town of Wayne, I would expect a bit more class and for the price I would imagine that there would be more attention and care to every child.
