After having my 31 foot Sea Ray for almost a year with another marine company, my friends told me to go see Jesus, at Baja Marine. Wow what a difference! From the second I met Jesus he made me comfortable. He told me exactly what was wrong, and gave me a timeframe he could finish the work. Everything was tested in front of me, with pictures of all the mistakes made by my old mechanic. Jesus, exudes confidence, with his knowledge, skills and great mechanics working under him. He fixed everything he promised, he even told me my hot water heater was installed wrong. His guys fixed that as well. After spending too many thousands of $$$ with my first mechanic, Jesus came in and fixed everything that needed to be fixed. Treating my boat as his own. After wasting a year with the old mechanic, I could now finally take my boat to Channel Island. Jesus did two sea trails, and called us on the way to make sure everything was perfect and that my brother and I were safe. What an experience! Thank you Jesus and Baja Marine for allowing my wife and I live the dream of being a boat owner (with a boat that actually runs). Hints: Do not trust any one that says their a mechanic, make sure they are certified. Be quick to get a second opinion from Baja Marine. And lastly go with your friends opinion on his Marine Service guys. My wife says also go with your gut, she knew the second she talked to Jesus he had our best interest at heart. I was overcharged for services and the boat was returned with a $26000 invoice and it still wasn't repaired properly and alarms were still existing I have 40 years experience with boats and this shop was good when it catered to private boaters like myself and was located in Lomita. They seem to have grown too fast and they currently prioritize their commercial accounts and they could care less about private boaters like myself. I live in San Pedro and was told on a daily basis for 5 months that the boat would be finished tomorrow which wasted my time and most of the summer 2024. Upon finally returning my boat alarms were still present and the boat was not repaired properly so I had to take it to another shop. When evaluating a boat shop to fix your boat I would not recommend Baja Marine. 1. Over Promised (1 Month) and under delivered on expectations for returning my boat (11 Months) 2. Had to get get lawyers and police engaged to release the boat. Hostile owners Jesus Ramirez, Robert Munoz 3. Overcharged for services that were never addressed or repaired. Required to be repaired by another shop 4. Extremely difficult to work with Baja Marine (No response to calls and text) 5. Unprofessional techs and making it impossible to communicate. 6. Boat Shop is a complete mess (see photo of abandoned and unrepaired boats) with boats parked on top of each other making it impossible to walk through to check on your boat.

Take my business somewhere else, then the day Steve owner of sunrise marine was going to put my boat back in the water so another mechanic can work on it he asked me to be the one to follow him to the boat ramp where he ran my boat for almost 10 minutes with water going to the engine then told me he had to take the boat back to the shop and on the way there I noticed the trailer crank wasn't connected ! Cone to fine out it didn't work and he was using my rope to secure the boat to the trailer. They upsold me to get diagnostics run on the engine and told me the lower unit needed servicing. It took them !!FOUR!! weeks just to get the parts and they lied every time I called in saying it would only be a few more days. The estimate was already high and then when I came to pick up my boat they bumped up the cost another $800. Then... when I put the boat in the water, the throttle was difficult to move, just like it was before they supposedly "fixed" the issue. I asked them to fix the issue like I had paid for and they wanted to charge me for the fix! I told them 'no!' and took it another service person. The second service person ran a diagnostic test and told me that Sunrise hadn't run any diagnostics on the boat - and found issues with my spark plugs that should have been identified by Sunrise if they had actually done the diagnostics. I was there when he replaced the spark plugs and saw how bad they were. Sunrise never performed the work they said they did on the boat and then tried to get me to pay them more. This place is completely unethical - they are crooks. Find anywhere else to go unless want to get robbed and lied to by these crooks.

As for the marina, its more of a forgotten part of the Al Larson complex. The docks are very old, weathered, beaten up, in desperate need of repair. The maintenance and upkeep is minimal. With that being said, its one of the closest marinas to Angel's Gate, the cut to the Pacific. Its also about half price comparing the slip fees to other marinas - Cabrillo, etc. Unfortunately, the office manager is crazy. She is unstable and will go off on you at any moment just for asking her a question or even trying to buy a drink at the marina store. I finally had enough and decided the extra savings was not worth being screamed and yelled at about 75% of the time you had to deal with her. My overall opinion of the place is "STAY AWAY" if JAN the office manager still works there. You have been warned.
