Interesting menu... nothing traditional here hence the vibrant pratonage and feel to the place. Otherwise it would be the cold dull old brick prison!! Cudos to the owner.

Breezy and quirky - the perfect spot when your brunch meal is a highlight of your lazy Sunday. The atmosphere is easy and the roses outside the windows add a nice touch to this place. We tried the 'Mac & Cheeseburger' and the 'Match ya' benedict'. Delicious! Large portions with amazing flavours that make your taste buds dance. Literally a party in your mouth. If you're one of those explorative types when it comes to food, you'll have alot of fun working around these dishes. If there's trouble deciding what to get on the menu (because everything sounds so interesting and apetising), it would be a good idea to each order something different so you can try it all. In regards to the service, the receipt machine for the orders malfunctioned so our order got lost somewhere. We were served a bit later than expected but the complimentary smoothies offered by the extremely friendly staff member made the wait all worth while.

The Glass Den opened in 2014 at the old Pentridge prison. The prison it self was built in Coburge (1850) and officially closed on 1st of May 1997. After decommissioning some known it as "The Bluestone College", some part of the property has been partly demolished and turned into housing area. The Glass Den sited at the notorious "D-division". The team at Glass den is one big multicultural family with Head Chef Mini Pakchima and their manager Alex and now Connell. The food presentations was amazing. and the taste was pretty unique

A place worth visiting. I was pretty amazed by the effort on details that is put into creating their dishes. I had their Scot Free salmon and it was like nothing I have ever experience. Great presentation and amazing taste (even my descriptions are an understatement). It is one of the many beautifully crafted dishes that you can choose here.

We stopped by early on a Sunday morning and were blown away by the sheer amount of space on the inside. Perfect seating options with small tables for parties of 2-4 to large tables which are big enough to fit a big family with extra space for prams and cute little booths for a more private meal. We were quickly shown a seat by the window and our coffee orders taken. We perused the menu, suited for breakfast, brunch, lunch OR dinner! Great options to suit all kinds of tastes. This place is an all day eatery with a fantastic wine and cocktail list to boot. We ordered the hotcake stack and sweet corn fritters with eggs. Given the amount of people they were serving we were surprised to get our meal within 15 minutes. Both meals pretty as a picture and the perfect size. I can't fault a thing with either meal, the ingredients matched perfectly. The hotcakes so light and fluffy with a delicious white chocolate cream on top and the sweet corn fritters (also like corn slice fried to crispy goodness) were simply amazing with perfectly poached eggs and dill cream. Now let's talk about the service - attentive and friendly. At one point someone came over the check we had received our coffee. We had, we just drank it so fast and the dirty cups were taken away so quickly our waitress hadn't noticed... Such a small and insignificant thing which made us notice how well we were taken care of. George Jones is definitely not what you would expect from a little inner suburban cafe with no competition around, but it has surpassed our expectations and we will be back many times to come.

The felafel are made fresh to order and you can have three of these plump, hot, gently spiced babies stuffed in a pita bread with a combination of vegetarian items. There's six options to choose from, but why you'd get anything other than the "Half Moon" with chilli sauce I don't know. Think crispy felafels, salad, olives, pickles, hummus... wrapped in a warm pita and weighing almost the size of a small child. This whole thing will set you back a mere $8. Other than the fact that the food here is delicious and cheap, the owners and staff are really what make this a worthy experience worth crossing town for. Run by a family for the last 12 years, they're super lovely and really care about their customers. The "father" is so kind and will make a point of walking around the tables outside to check that his customers are happy, that they have enough napkins and that they're looked after. I love chatting to him and if I time my lunch break right I might be able to sit with him while he has his lunch break in the late afternoon. Customer service doesn't cost anything, yet there's not many places that get it right or enjoy it as this family does. 5 stars.

We arrived one busy lunchtime, and joined the line of people ordering kebabs. I went for the eponymous Half Moon sandwich, which was with falafels and salad. The woman taking our order at the counter asked us to take a table outside and the other would be brought out to us. I thought she was clever to be able to remember which order went where without any table numbers or tickets. It turned out she didn't have a clue, and our order was bounced around between 4 different tables before it was given to me. At one point, she even gave the order to me, then took it away, and then returned to hand it to me again! The sandwich itself was good value at $8, but no where near as large as others have suggested. I finished it without a problem, and I wouldn't consider myself to have a bigger appetite than most guys. The salad and sauce was nice, but the falafels were ordinary. I'd have preferred them to be crunchier on the outside and soft inside. The other disappointment was that they used packet pita bread rather than baking their own, as any proper restaurant in the middle east would do. Even so, if I were in Coburg again, I would return to Half Moon Cafe for lunch.
