Jay was my stylist and he was fantastic. He understood what I meant although I'm terrible at explaining. He took his time, explained what he was doing and why he was selecting to use a certain method of cutting on my specific hair type and gave me exactly what I wanted. I could not stop smiling. I was able to keep the length with a lot of weight taken out of it and my hair looks 10x healthier. As I'm not familiar with the area, I found this salon per Yelp. It was a life saver and great choice! First off, I arrived 30 mins earlier hoping the salon was open so I'd be done on time for a special occasion. The location was easy to find as it's located on a strip of stores a few minutes away from the NJ transit with paid street parking in front. Surprisingly the salon was open and there were already customers getting work done. The salon itself was very clean, spacious and well lit with natural light. I was happily greeted by my hair and makeup stylist Christina. I didn't have any expectations since it was last minute and my first time at this salon. Christina was easy to work with and very upbeat and explanatory when it came to her process. I felt like I was conversing with a friend which made me feel at ease and not worked up from the afternoon's activities. She immediately got to business with my hair and was open with experimenting with my length as I did not have a clue how to get the style I wanted and left the figuring out to the expert. I had two photo references and was open to whatever she could do to achieve a similar effect. She did hit the look for the hair with an additional twist which took the most time due to a little experimentation with a bit of improvisation. After she nailed it, onto makeup. Again, I showed her the photo reference and explained what I wanted to attain; Christina pulled out her case of makeup and went about her artistry. With all the proper COVID safety protocols, she had explained that the palettes and lipstick were new and all brushes were cleaned. She always kept a positive mindset even on a time crunch. Overall, this salon went above my expectations with the artistry of Christina for makeup and hair for all occasions. She also has fun stories too which was a plus! Prices were reasonable. Crazy me, while in the Edison area I decided to do a walk-in on a whim. I have been debating on…read moregetting bangs for a long time and today was the day. I was greeted warmly. Joe was assigned to cut my hair. I showed him an inspo photo, he studied it and went straight to work. He was very meticulous with each cut. My eyes were closed when he made that first snip on my bangs. I opened my eyes and I really liked what I saw. Towards the end, I actually had to tell him twice to snip a few more strands in the front. Appreciate that he didn't overdo it. Absolutely love the new hairstyle where I can sport it with my edgy outfits (leather jackets and black boots) this coming fall/winter. Bangs are not for everyone but I say go for it if you have been thinking about them for a long time. Worse case scenario is that it will grow back.
