Had my first facial today in many years. I went to Belisa Salon in Old Bridge and it is an amazing place. The owner is so nice and friendly and does the facial which was fantastic. It was an hour long and relaxing and my skin felt refreshed and clean afterwards. I would recommend this salon to anyone to go there. It was so good I made my next appointment for January. Can't wait to go back and it may be monthly for a spa service. Price is very good for the one hour facial and they do me a facials too! Great gift for the holidays as well. Just got a blowout from Marisa. I was running late and she greeted me with a smile and was so nice about it. She did such a relaxing head massage I almost fell asleep. My hair is pretty frizzy and wavy and she got it really nice and smooth. So happy with the way it came out. I'll be back for sure! read more

I have to say I'm highly disappointed with this salon for its bad customer service from the owner Smita. I had a hair blow out by marissa and she was good however 2 incidents make me want to never return here. A family member got make up and hair done by Smita for a function and the make up was very cake-like in appearance and did not appear to match the rest of the skin especially the forehead. When asked, Smita got highly offended and didn't understand what I was talking about. She tried to address the forehead but at the end we just left due to time constraints and I ended up touching up the face when I got home and it was much better afterwards. When the family member washed the makeup off after the function, she realized Smita had burned her forehead in a couple of spots with hair ironing tools and she tried to cover it up as best as possible thus why the cakelike make up appearance especially on the forehead. The family member was not shown a mirror till the very end of her session which is why she didn't see the burn marks. Secondly, I brought another Groupon for blowouts and Smita verbalized she could not honor it because I was not a first time customer even though I Physically showed her a picture of the Groupon where it NEVER stated it was for first time clients only. Good customer service would have honored it since nothing was mentioned. Smita said she couldn't help me and told me to just contact Groupon to cancel and that was the end of it. That is not good customer service especially from an owner. I'll never return here. read more

1st review: Love this place. I went when they weren't very busy, I got a blowout they do a great job washing and my hair looks beautiful. The place is clean and the staff is very nice. They take credit or cash but the tip must be in cash. There's also plenty of parking. Update: I tried twice to come back here and get an appointment but I hate when they ask how long my hair is. It's medium length, twice I've called and twice I was told they can't take me the day I called bc of the length of my hair. I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Recently stopped by for my (way overdue) haircut and highlights. Marisa does not disappoint. She is consistent with the way she works and continues to be the best stylist I have worked with. The owner was pleasant as always. I was initially surprised to get an appointment within 2 days -- especially considering that they are a busy salon. However, during the appointment it became apparent that there are some issues with time management. I was at the salon for a very long time, similar to my last experience. Several other clients were being seen by my stylist while I was there (while the color was setting in, right after my wash, etc.). This may have been due to many factors-- it being a Friday, the salon being short-staffed, and the amount of time required to handle my thick hair. Although, I have never waited this long at a hair appointment; my appointment was at 11 and I did not leave until about 2:30. If they were to address this issue I would give the salon 5 stars. read more

Based on good reviews on yelp, I bought the livingsocial coupon for Hot Oil Moroccan Hair Treatment with Scalp Massage and Blowout ($20) (regularly $50). First off, I got an appointment for 1:30 PM and when i went there I was told that the appointment was at 1:00 and I was asked to come back at 4:40 or wait till 3:00. This was a real bummer as I went there from work at lunch time and had some plans later on. As I had already driven, I waited. The seating area to wait had sun burning my back and it was really uncomfortable. Once the treatment started, I was told I need to pay $10 extra for long hair. I have hair till mid back. Any hair below shoulder is considered long hair. Which is weird as I would call shoulder length as short. Next. I was really disappointed as the scalp massage was just for 1 or 2 minutes. The whole session took less than 30 minutes. My hair seemed the same. Not any difference to what I do at home. I wouldn't be going back here anytime soon. Other than my personal experience, let me list down some pros and cons. Pros: The girl who took care of me was very confident in what she did. Seemed like she is very experienced. The interior of the salon was clean and hygienic. The interior decoration looked very nice. The products used were Red-ken. cons: No receptionist. The girls working inside rush to pick calls which means they are in a hurry and bound to get time/details wrong. Also most of them don't speak good English. No Screen to keep the sun out, I guess they switch off heater and let the sun do the heating. Burnt my back when I was waiting and I felt VERY cold when I was inside during the session. Not very friendly to me ( may be due to coupon) as they seemed very friendly to other customers. The neighborhood was kinda scary. I was worried about parking my new car in their parking lot. Small salon with individuals who can do only one thing. So when the hair stylist is off, you cannot get appointments on those days. read more

I also had a groupon for this salon. The downside is when I asked for the next available appointment they had nothing until almost 2 weeks later! Another issue is that my nails got a little bit messed up but I think that may have been a mistake of mine not the lady who did my nails. Not sure how they got messed up since they looked fine after she did them and I did my best not to touch them or anything. However, the lady i had did an amazing job! She even threw in a little massage for free "her treat". Very sweet lady. Overall, I like the place but not happy with the wait and still wondering how my nails got messed up. -__- read more

I went to this salon for my first professional partial highlight and a cut. Marisa did a FANTASTIC job. I would recommend her to anyone. The highlights are even and tasteful. She really went the extra mile and talked with me about what I wanted. She included a ridiculously relaxing scalp massage while the toner was evening out the color and the blow-out looks great. High quality products, reasonable prices. I was also able to make an appointment only three days in advance. This place is really hidden on Old Matawan Road there, but it's worth a visit. My only negative was that when I set up the appointment, I was told they took American Express, but after my treatment, I was told they did not actually accept it, which messed with my budget a little. Marisa was pretty solid. She listened throughly to what I wanted in my blow out, and she asks questions to know exactly what you want. The scalp massage was heaven. Terrible service. Not only did I have to call several times before a phone call was ever returned during normal business hours, but they had only 1 manicurist for 500 certificates they sold and could not accommodate me in a 3 month period where I called monthly to schedule an appt. Common sense would tell me, as a business owner, to hire another manicurist. She would only have an opening for me after the certificate I had expired. How very convenient. She would not honor the certificate past it's date either. All I required was an evening or weekend appt, but none were ever to be had. I even offered a Monday daytime but they are closed. Apparently, they are just looking to pocket money that was already paid to them and not provide any services. Owner isn't efficient, should simply be a hair dresser, not business owner. Does not operate her business to par, and does not care to rectify issues that arise due to her poor judgement. She desperately needs to attend business and marketing seminars, and realize that customer service is important in any industry. A reputation is all you have, and hers is diminishing quickly. Many others have had the same issue. Don't waste your time here. read more

Today I had a trim, partial highlights, and blow out at Belisa salon. Smita was payed attention to small details and noticed that my haircut from last time was uneven which I had not previously noticed. Also she asked me a lot of questions about my haircut and tone of my highlights to make sure she did my hair how I wanted. No complaints about the trim or blow out, however in my highlights there is one highlight a little thicker than others which hugged me a little but it's not very noticeable, I'm just a tad OCD. My favorite part of the visit was that she threw in a complimentary scalp massage and deep conditioner when washing out my highlights. Overall it was a positive experience and I would return and recommend her to a friend. read more

I love Belisa Salon!! The shop is warm and inviting, with great music and very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Word to the wise - they are IN DEMAND. Do not be surprised if they are booking a month or more in advance. There's an extensive selection of professional haircare products. I picked up a really cute pair of locally made earrings also. My stylist was Isabel, who was kind, supercute, funny, and made me feel completely at ease. I love the color and cut I received and wouldn't change a thing! Even tho this place isn't very attractive OUTSIDE, when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised! Clean, quiet, posh, and friendly. Hands down best hair cut and color I've ever had. I've been with Isabel over 7yrs and wouldn't even consider anyone else! Lorraine, try going to the salon before critique it! Shame on you!!! As for the wait, that's any good salon...it's called good customer service and not rushing a client out of your chair just to get to the next. If they are busy, that's because they have REGULARS. Eyes were burning and tearing up for hours after facial-needs to really protect your eyes better during exfoliation. But she blamed me saying I probably opened my eyes during treatment. What?? Black heads still where they were before the facial. Nose pores still clogged. Face had no glow and showed no difference from before compared to other places I have received facials. Oh and if you tell her you have a Groupon, apparently she only wants new customers to use it, even though Groupon states for "customers not active in the last 12 months". I had an Amazon coupon for a Brazilian wax here which is the only reason I didn't go to my original waxer. The pros about belisa salon are that they are slightly cheaper than my usual place and the people are very welcoming. Also the salon seems very clean and the upstairs area where the facials and waxings are done are very spacious and appealing. i'm sorry I can't remember the waxers name but she was very nice and professional. There was soothing music playing which actually really helped relax me. The pillow on the table was the most comfortable pillow! The down side to getting my wax done was that I still had wax pieces stuck on me when I left which isn't a huge deal because that happens but there was a little more than I would have liked. Wax was left all over, hair was waxed uneven and not even at all in spots. residual wax was left all over and the technician giggled when I told her she ruined my pants. What an incredible hidden gem! My first experience here was excellent. I was greeted upon arrival and immediately felt very comfortable and welcomed! BEST PEDICURE EVER! Shirley was absolutely amazing. She took her time with every single step. Just when I thought the massage portion was over (as most salons rush through this portion of the pedicure), she would continue with even more. The hot stones were amazing. You would have to pay extra for a "Spa Pedicure" for all of these added value bonuses she includes in her basic pedicure. I will tell everyone I know to experience it for themselves. Truly amazing...
