Bar La Playa is a MUST first-stop when visiting Zona Romantica…read more On our most recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to spend a day in this part of the region. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.

This is a GREAT spot. I went for martini Monday (85 pesos martinis all night) and ordered a house…read moremartini to start. They use tanqueray as their house gin which is unusual but a pleasant surprise as it actually happens to be my preferred brand. I didn't have high hopes for the martini - I find that outside of major U.S. cities places end up putting in way too much vermouth - and it actually ended up being fantastic. It didn't taste too different from what I would make at home which is probably the best thing I could say about a martini (for my own personal taste). I tried a fruitier one - the Gigi - as my second and final drink. It was good but I'm just not a fruity drink person. I just wasn't equipped to handle another standard martini lol. The ambiance is phenomenal - it was both casual and comfortable yet classy. The crowd was much older than I expected although not in a bad way at all. There were lots of expats in their 50s and 60s. I was worried it would be a rowdy rooftop and by contrast it was actually a very chill vibe. Only complaint is that the bathroom is outside of the venue down the stairs and you need a key to enter, which was a bit annoying bc I wanted to use the restroom before I left and I forgot to ask for the key on my way out. Small annoyance and certainly wouldn't prevent me from going back.

They were warm and delicious. The herbs in the butter made for a nice compliment. We were served a small pork hors d'oeuvre before we ordered. It's flavor was nice and refreshing. I had the pappardelle mariscos. The seafood was all fresh and reasonably portioned. The white sauce and drizzle of pesto made for a nice flavor pairing. I do not think the noodles were house made... We went in for cocktails because the bar was decorated with modern decor and was quite stylish. We chose to sit on the patio which was nicely decorated and the weather was perfect. We ordered two cocktails that were both delicious! You can tell they take pride in their cocktails and food. We ordered "the three spoiled ones" to snack on, which was basically three sliders, but they weren't your typical sliders. They were each a different kind of meat and cheese. I enjoy trying new things and they were also very good. They had a DJ playing music throughout the bar. I'd love to try more items next time we're on vacay!

The most sincere welcome I received assured me I was in the right place. ALL who worked there were super friendly, patient and helpful with choosing my meal options. I had the best spicy margarita made only there and I don't usually eat or drink anything spicy. I had 2 quesadillas with chicken and steak with 4 different sauces and vegetables. I felt full after that. The ambiance inside was home-like. It was busy but I felt I received the appropriate and prompt attention. Absolutely highly recommend Don Chava!

They have the best Cadillac margarita I've had in PV... perfectly balanced, smooth, and strong without being overpowering (but can be if you have too many lolll) . And the al pastor tacos? FAV. So flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and always fresh. It's one of those places you think about even after you leave. We return every single time we're in town... it's pretty much a tradition at this point. The staff keeps us coming too! They are the best. So warm, so kind, and we always have fun chatting with them in our little Spanglish mix which just makes the whole experience feel even more personal. If you're in PV, you should go

I say "small", as the the inside spaces, on all three floors, can get tight, especially the first and third floors. However, the outdoor space on the second floor makes up for it all! Wraparound seating, string lights and gorgeous murals...this courtyard is where we spent more of our time while at Anonimo. We were here for the cocktails of course, so we hit the main floor first, then made our way up to the third floor before settling in the outdoor courtyard. Drinks here are standard beer and cocktails. Pricing is great, as with most places in the area. While are not cash only, they do highly recommend cash and have a 500 pesos limit for credit card usage. If you are only have a drink or two, you may not be able to hit that, but we just put our groups first round on the same tab and were able to make do with no issues. Service was friendly and welcoming, space was fun, open and distinctly PV. Overall, we loved it and will certainly be back on future visits!
