These guys were fantastic. I had a prior gate company out the week before. That company told me I needed a new circuit board. They stated the price for the circuit board would be somewhere between $800 up to $1,200. I asked him why in the world is there such a difference in the price? One thing led to another and I realized they were a bunch of con artist. I politely asked them to leave the property. I called the manufacturer of my gate electronics and they provided me a few names of authorized repair people. I saw the kind of reviews the gatekeeper had so I called them. They got to my property the same day. They determined I did not need a new circuit board but rather my system got tripped for some reason. All that was needed was to press the reset button. My bill with them was $140. Needless to say I was thrilled. In addition they treated me they treated me with respect and they were pleasure to work with. read more

I have only used The Gate Keeper to service my gates. I usually have a good experience with this company, but for some reason this time the service was not what I expected. The technician arrived on time and was to repair a photo eye sensor and service 2 gates. He did service the gates, tighten the chains and used WD40 to lucubrate the chains; seriously WD40 to lubricate an outside chain is not going to last or work. He re-aligned the sensor and the gate worked properly. While he was still here I tried the gate and again it would not close. He did another alignment and placed a screw between the wall and the mounting bracket to keep the alignment in place. The gate worked for a day or so and now it is not working again. I contacted The Gate Keeper and informed them of my concerns. The next day the technician showed up per my request to fix the alignment issue. When the technician came he had a replacement sensor and wanted to charge me more $$$$$. I told him absolutely not, why should I be charged additional $$$$$ when nothing is wrong with the sensor, the sensor needs to be properly aligned. I called The Gate Keeper and expressed my concerns with the service and the young lady asked for my credit card number, I said for what, she replied for the replacement sensor, I informed her that the technician did not replace the sensor and I asked for the manager. The gentleman I spoke with indicated he would review and get back with me. No return calls and as far as I'm concerned no service was rendered. Not happy with The Gate Keeper at this time. After I called to schedule an appointment, I received an automatic text from The Gatekeeper the day before our appointment with the estimated arrival time and a text the day of when Al, the technician, was en route. This type of communication was really helpful. Our automatic garage door completely stopped working. Al from the Gatekeeper came, identified the problem, replaced the door panel, and reprogrammed our remotes -- all in 15 minutes!! After the appointment I got a text asking for direct feedback and also allowed me to post a review directly on a number of review sites. Excellent service. Highly recommended. read more

I left a previous eating of 5 stars, but I want to say that John has my gate running better and he made a simple adjustment. The gate would remain open when it rained and we had to wipe the return lens to get it to close. John thought I might need a new sensor, but he wanted to try something first. The sensor needed a tad of an adjustment to be center the the reflector, and the gate is closing when it rains. Thank you John! read more

When the streets in our private development were repaved, we had to reinstall sensor loops for our entrance and exit gates. The Gatekeeper took care of this for a very fair price. It turned out that the new loops were too close to cars that park in front of a house at the exit gate, causing the gate to go up and stay up when cars parked there. The Gatekeeper came and re-cut those loops at no charge. And now the gate is working perfectly. Five stars for them for standing behind their work. 11/22/19 read more

I have been using the Gatekeeper (located in Chatsworth) for many years and they have never disappointed. Fast friendly service from people who really know what they are doing. Peggy in the office is great and the guys who come out to service my iron gate opener diagnose the problem and fix it quickly - and they carry all needed parts on their truck. Gatekeeper isn't the cheapest place in town, but when my gate doesn't open I will gladly pay for quick knowledgeable service. read more

The Gatekeeper continues it's abominable level of incompetence. John, the serviceman who came to my home three months ago (and spent most of the time on his cell phone), told me that he would arrange to get me a bypass key for the front gate which is necessary in the event of a power outage. Several times over the past three months, I have called to ask about the bypass key, and each time Peggy told me that she would need to speak to the service supervisor who, apparently, needed to speak with John, the "non-serviceman". No luck ... still no return phone call ... still no bypass key. This morning I called again and again spoke with Peggy who again told me I needed to speak with Randy, the supervisor, who was on another call. I offered to hold but Peggy said she would be sure to have Randy call me as soon as he was available. Now ready to take matters into my own hands, I contacted Viking, the gate manufacturer, and got the part number. But because they sell only to licensed dealers, I could not purchase the key personally ... I had to go through a dealer. So I called The Gatekeeper back and asked to speak with Randy. Peggy said he wasn't in the office, but she had given him my message and he would call me back after he spoke with John. Peggy offered to put me through to Randy's voice mail but I asked for his cell phone number. Her response was that he doesn't have one. Imagine that! John, the serviceman, is on his cellphone non-stop but Randy, his supervisor, doesn't have one. So I left a message on Randy's voicemail and gave him the contact phone number and the part number I needed. FINALLY ... HE RETURNED MY CALL ... and left the following message: The Gatekeeper is NOT an authorized Viking dealer and, therefore, cannot get me the part, but suggested that I contact Signature Garage Doors & Gates which has good reviews on YELP. So three months after servicing my unit that they're not authorized to service, and three months after waiting for a replacement bypass key, I am told that they're not an authorized dealer. The ineptness of this company is beyond belief. read more

I called and made an appointment they told me it would be a.m. or p.m. and I should call in the morning to find out. I called in the morning and they said p.m. no problem so I plan my day and I get home at 12:30. I decide to call around 3:15 to make sure everything is OK. They tell me the technician is running late and he cannot make it to my house today. If they knew this already, why not call me so I don't sit at home like an idiot, is my time not worth nothing? John from Gatekeeper came over on short notice to troubleshoot a complicated and aging gate system. I thought I would need to hire multiple service people (an electrician, a phone specialist, etc...). But he did it all. He did a very professional and outstanding job which including splicing wires, syncing multiple devices with various phones and automatic sensors and openers. This company was supposed to repair the garage gate in our condominium & told our management company they would be out on a Thursday which was one week after they inspected our gate & quoted a price. After waiting all day, 2 guys showed up around 3:30 & said it was too late to fix the gate but would definitely be here in the morning between 9 & 10. Around 11 I called the company & was told they definitely couldn't come that day. No explanation, no phone call to let me know. After explaining that this was now an urgent situation for our building because of security issues, this same bozo called back to say they would be out to fix the gate in 2 to 3 weeks. He actually said that with a straight face, I'm sure. They are unprofessional, have no sense of scheduling their work & cavalier about disrespecting your time. Too many other companies out there than to waste your time with these losers.- read more

These guys are professional and knowledgeable. They are an authorized dealer for liftmaster so they usually have some parts that takes others a while to get. I had my gate installed 10 years ago and have not had any problems at all. Almost Everyone on my street has gates installed by the budget guys and they have problems. My neighbor and I had gates installed and I don't even have to think about my gate. These guys are the best, yes, they are a little bit more expensive but, it's because they use quality materials and have had the same staff for many years. Do yourself a favor and use the Gatekeeper, your gate will work perfectly, be perfectly aligned, have an angle that matches the slope and give you years of trouble free operation. read more

In 2012, I was managing a house and evidently there had been some issues with Gatekeeper and a long over due invoice. We had hundreds of problems with the gate. There was always a thorough explanation, but what it boiled down to was an obsolete system that needed to be replaced. Even though the owner was a PAIN, they continued to deal with us. Because of this reason, when I relocated to another home in Malibu I called them to set the timer on a new gate and program the remotes.. they did it no problem. Now at another home, I just set up another service call.. Peggy remembered me and it had been a few years. She was able to accommodate me right away. I am happy to use them. They are great and professional. They do a lot more than come out and look in a box and bill you $100. They do thorough troubleshooting and they do not begin a repair job until you approve it and they disclose the price upfront. read more

07/12/2021 21st was the first time our HOA used the The Gate Keepers. After speaking to Randy a few times and obtaining a few bids, I decided to use The Gate Keepers and am very happy that I did. I sent Randy pictures showing him what we needed to have done. We have a garage window which faces the street and with burglaries on the rise someone managed to bend a vertical bar and squeeze through and get into the upper garage thereby stealing an expensive electric bicycle. Even though the company was extremely busy Randy managed to have two of his workers come to the building in just a few days. I received a text advising who was coming and time of arrival. They were here on time and both workers were very cordial and accommodating. The work was done in a few hours and we are very satisfied with the results. They replaced a vertical bar and added three new horizontal bars and sprayed paint the bars to match the existing bars. I asked one of the workers if they could please adhere a No Trespassing sign to one of our gates and not only was he willing, but in addition to the two sided tape I purchased and gave him, he used two screws to bolt the sign onto the gate so the sign would not fall down again. I can see why these guys get almost all five star reviews. I stumbled upon them needing to motorize a wrought iron entry gate for my 91-year old dad who was burglarized and needed good security. We got three quotes, The Gatekeeper being one of them. John came out and was so knowledgeable explaining everything to my dad we decided to use them, even though their price was slightly (about $100.00) higher. My dad is a very picky, engineer type who is nearly impossible to work with and though I'm typically a Type A type, I messed up TWO times scheduling and missed an important set up call (what is going on with me lol). Not a problem with their most courteous receptionist or anyone else there. I worked mostly with Randy the manager, who answered/returned every call and always replied to my emails. With my dad we had a LOT of questions and changes. They ALWAYS accommodated us! Oh yes, and the gate! It's PERFECT!! I know a lot about motorized gates now (lol) so I felt obligated to review! It's secure, sturdy, quietly opens and closes using the remotes or one of the three high quality keypads installed on poles (yes, my dad wanted three)! It looks fantastic and they even repaired a post dent at no extra charge. The best part is that The Gatekeeper helped me get through a very scary time with my dad by offering high quality service and product. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Our front electric powered gate wasn't closing properly. We thought we needed to have the entire system replaced, which would have cost several thousand dollars. Paul M. from The Gatekeeper came out, and after inspecting the entire gate system, told us we didn't need to replace the whole system at this time, but would need to in the future. We received a written quote from the business a few days later giving the option of either repairing the issue now for $350, or replacing the entire system for $7,000 +. Not wanting to spend that much right now, we chose the repair. Paul M. came back and spent almost 3 hours fixing what needed to be fixed, and checking everything out to make sure the gate was working properly before he left. He is a perfectionist! Another service had come out and told us we had to replace the entire system. We really appreciated being given the option to repair, by The Gatekeeper. We will call them again when we need service, and when the system stops working, we'll hire them to replace it. They have earned our business. read more

We had them out for an insurance repair coupled with additional work. The insurance side was to be completely at their discretion to repair or replace. Our additional work was adding lengths of gate and a motor to open said gate. After a week of waiting I get an email that they have chosen not to bid on my project. Not really sure how to rate this. I know it's bad business. I know they have no explanation. I know they did not have the courtesy of a phone call. My recommendation for residential work, find another company. One that is Hungary for your business. We had high hopes for them. read more

The company who installed our door was not The Gatekeeper. When our installer couldn't make it for a service call for 3 weeks, I called The Gatekeeper. The day after Christmas, Al came out, fixed the door, lubed it, tightened the spring, cleared den debris off the sensors, showed me how to perform regular maintenance and was just great! Love these guys! I have been using them for years for our driveway gates. They are very professional and super nice. Most importantly, they are honest and fair. I know that the bid they give me is always on the up and up. I recently had an issue with my garage door and called them after I had a few garage door companies give me a whopping estimate of over $2000 for a new door that would take weeks to repair/replace. The guy from Gatekeeper came out - looked at the door and said all we needed was new springs and a bolt for the arm... He was done in an hour! Door works perfect!
