Several months ago I'd grown increasingly worried about my mom's safety at home. The day we were to…read morediscuss assisted living with her doctor, I found myself calling 911 and sending her to the hospital for what would be 51 days, sepsis, 2 surgeries & 2 rehab stints. Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options, mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. If I had a do over, I would have started with Senior Living Experts, they are amazing!

Kerry asked a lot of questions to help narrow down our options. She recommended several places to help us determine what size/feel would work best for our situation. Kerry set up the appointments for our tours and checked with us to get feedback. Our timeline for moving needed to happen sooner than we thought, and Kerry helped keep us on track. My father-in-law is happy with his new home and we appreciate Kerry's help.

The head of nursing needs to find a new job, and should lose her license. Maybe with something of…read morethe words "do you want fries with that" she is snaky and not a person to trust. Her staff is as equally lazy as she is. I had never met the admin til my grandfathers last day in the facility before he died. We asked for help from the nurses and doctors for the months he was there but ultimately they thought it best not to give him water or juice daily like we had asked, due to failing kidneys. This facility does not do complete charting daily. So we never knew if he got his meds or not. They rushed him to the emergency room once they saw he was septic. He was in a lot of pain we put him on hospice and he died 4 hours later. Don't send a family member here they will make sure of it to kill that family member.

Jennings Terrace is a very special place. My mom is there and she is 100 years old. She lives on…read morethe independent living side, but she is surrounded by people who care for her and love her for who she is. It's not the kind of place that wants to gouge you. It's the kind of place that sincerely cares about people. The staff is exceptional at what they do and exceptional at understanding people from different walks of life. They are able to have compassion for my mom and her health or mental health difficulties that we all have at times throughout life. I am so thankful that my mom is at Jennings Terrace. There are a lot fancier places, but I don't think there is more skill or care or compassion in those places. This is home for my mom and she is happy there. We decorated her room and she loves it. She goes and sits out by the big cozy fireplace and watches a movie with other residents when the weather is cooler. And, when we walk in are usually greeted by someone who gives us a smile or a group of people playing games and laughing in the game room. This is home for my mom and I am so thankful to Esther, Daphne, Diana, Keosha, Diane and all the other staff members that I haven't named that make sure that things run smoothly. I live out of state and I know my mom is cared for, and it means so much!

AGENCY Help At Home This agency is coordinated via CATHOLIC CHARITIES and has provided care for…read moreEVERETT BREI for at least 5 years. (The primary caretaker Mr Clyde Tayor was employed by a similar agency earlier and we "followed" him to Help at Home when he switched employers) The agency phone number is 708-248-7776 and fax is 708-248-6607. The supervisor's name is Miss LLOYD. All occurances occured at the residence of EVERETT and JAMES BREI at the address listed above. ALL OCCURANCES WERE WITNESSED VIA WEB CAMERAS BY THE COMPLAINANT AND ADDITIONAL WITNESS. Only 2 years worth of complaints are being included for brevity, although to the best of my knowledge similar events occured each year/every time that the primary caretaker took any days off. 1. Although the primary caretaker advised his immediate supervisor of his planned time off well in advance, the agency repeatedly failed to assign a replacement. The only way we would find out about this is when NO ONE WOULD SHOW UP TO CARE FOR AND SUPERVISE MY ELDERLY FATHER. This was witnessed via web camera by myself and my sister JoAnn Berge, who has access to the cameras. This occured during at least 2018, 2019 2020. 2. Failure of a caretaker to show up placed my elderly father at GREAT RISK. Since he could not walk unassisted he was automatically placed at risk of falling and injuring himself. He also had dementia, and disorientation without supervision created a potentially emergent situation. THE ONLY REASON POLICE OR PARAMEDICS WERE NOT CALLED IS BECAUSE WE COULD MONITOR THE SITUATION IN REAL TIME AND BECAUSE THE AGENCY ASSURED US THAT HELP WAS BEING SENT. 3. Whenever the above situation would arise, almost predictably when Mr. Taylor was away, The supervisor would claim she did not have knowledge her employee was away (why not?) OR claim that the replacement employee was either running late or called in sick. There was no explanation given regarding why an alternate was not found OR that the family was NOT advised that there was a delay. Again, the potential risk that this placed on EVERETT BREI is incalculable. 4. These incidents were not reported prior to this time out of FEAR THAT SERVICES TO EVERETT BREI WOULD BE TERMINATED. 5. Although my father passed away on 2-8-21, this was the day the the caretaker Clyde Taylor (or replacement) was due to be at the family home. Again, I found out the NO ONE WAS COMING only because I called in advance to verify availablity. To add insult to this grevious loss, it was then that we were informed that his regular caretaker CLYDE TAYLOR "no longer was willing to care for" my father. There was no warning and no reason given for this.

We needed a group that was local and we could not have asked for a better group of people to help us. From the director to the nurses to the caretakers, music therapist and pastor, they were so supportive and helped us every step of the way. They visited when we asked and helped us through the process. I highly recommend this caring, compassionate group if You are in need for care of a loved one. The day after our mother (future mother-in-law) passed away, the pastor married us at our home. Thank you to each person at Peace Hospice!
