Beautiful place. So serene. Extremely professional staff. Would recommend to anyone faced with such a tough decision.

My mom recently passed away on Tuesday night and the treatment she received was amazing. She recently passed away (GUY) and all of the nurse's and CNA's that work in room 18 were amazing. I'm not sure how to write a review for a place that no one ever wants to go to...but, when you HAVE TO...this would be the place. I spent some time here yesterday and was amazed from the moment I drove up, the details, the flowers and beautiful entrance. Then, I walked in, that nervous feeling of wishing I didn't have to but wanting to all the same, and the woman at the front desk was so kind she made me forget my feelings of nervousness. She smiled, chatted, and directed me to the right room without making me feel like she felt sad for me or even like she acknowledged that this was anything other than a normal visit. It helped me calm down and relax. Then, when I walked in the room I was completely taken aback by how comfortable it was. I felt like I walked into someone's living room. It was so spacious and had a huge window overlooking those same flower beds I saw driving in. Such a natural, comforting setting. The care of the nursing staff and volunteers just in the few hours I was there was also incredible. There are only 16 rooms and each resident is treated with respect along with the family members. This hospice is not as good as they once were. It's a shame that they have monopolized the hospitals in the area and prevented hospices with better care to shine. Referrals shouldn't be based on historical use. They don't even have a rep visiting my mom's memory care. They don't have to care because they have hospitals on lockdown instead of earning by merit. It's embarrassing. Choose ANY other agency. read more

I don't even know where to start. Both parents entered palliative care spring of 2022. Dad advanced to end of life care January 2023 and the nurses were the best. The staff that answered the 24/7 hotline were calming and supportive. Kisha, Dads CNA, could light up the darkest days with her smile and personality. She also knew with mom's dementia, mom might not like another women giving him a bath, so she always included her. We had several on call nurses that were also amazing, however, i don't know their names. Jen was our first end of life nurse and we just loved her personality and quick response to our calls. Then we had Holly, who also was very special as she helped in so many ways as the end neared for my dad. She saw us in our worst moments, and always left us in a better mind set. I will never ever forget these 3 wonderful ladies. I also want to thank the guitarist who played & sang on the front porch while dad slept and my mom loved listening. My only wish is that we could continue having the guitarist for my mom, as dad passed and moms still considered palliative, even though she barely knows who we are and doesn't know where she is, music really calms her. I also want to thank Taryn my moms palliative care nurse, shes also been a shoulder to cry on when things are rough. Thank you hospice staff at lightways. We love you guys. read more

JACH is the gold standard of hospice care. They helped with my mom at the end of her life. Every worker down to the equipment delivery guy took deliberate care to be compassionate. Mom passed in my home. JACH thought nothing of sending someone at wee hours to come help. Then, after mom passed, the level of heartfelt care for me and my mom was beyond words. Honestly, I can't begin to describe. Their Lights of Love Ceremony a few months later was beautiful and really helped ease our family into the holidays. Chaplain Rebecca Love sang to my mom. Other nurses and aides (who I got to thank personally) were incredibly compassionate. Chris C. in bereavement helped enormously. I received free counseling for several months after. He was a lifesaver. Plus JACH offers so many other workshops and events to help. They have care dogs, pet placement and even a bear/clothing ministry (which uses a special piece of clothing from a loved one) to provide comfort . Hospice patients can stay on-site (hospice home), in a nursing home and even at home. While at home, my mom received free equipment, meds and delivery as well as direct care. My father-in-law passed within a year. His hospice was nothing like JACH. I remain indebted to JACH and have since become a volunteer myself. JACH is a Godsend! read more

We went with Joliet Hospice on recommendations from the community. They were a God send for our family. Although we needed support from them for only a short time, they were there for everything we needed for my mother during her last days home with us. read more

One star is too many. My dad is doing hospice at home. They sent an lazy CNA and an RN that was caught snooping through my hse. They didn't know I had cameras. I called to have them replaced and they called the state elder abuse agency on me. False accusations of abuse and they secretly spoke to my dad without anyone's permission and he has a guardian. The guardian wasn't even notified of this. Of course the case was closed because they didn't find anything. Please stay away from this place. Families already go through enough dealing with their loved one dying. Who needs this? If you need hospice please go elsewhere. read more

Our mom was in a memory care facility and when we called Joliet Area Hospice, they came out and assessed her immediately then assigned a team to her. We only had their services for 6 days but they were so helpful, caring, and informative. I can't say enough about how much they helped me understand the process of dying and all that entails. I called the office twice and the phone was answered immediately and I was in touch with the person I needed within the hour. They have many resources available to the ill person and to the family that we didn't know about until we called them. I give them high praise and will be grateful to them forever for being there at that very difficult time. read more

They help people die. Nobody else does it better. Clean spacious and all the comforts of a home. I hope I never need them again but was thankful of the service they provide after my mother had a stroke and was being called towards the pearly gates. read more

We initially had a wonderful experience with Joliet Hospice when we used them to care for my father. Then 8 months into his care they abruptly dropped services for him. NOTHING had changed from the day he was accepted into hospice...nothing...not his terminal cancer diagnosis, not his medication, nothing. However, one day they unilaterally decided that he no longer qualified and dropped him with no care. He was wheelchair bound, needed 24 hour care and could not toilet on his own. The hospital social worker complained saying their decision was unethical, family complained, but they did not care. In my dad's own words "I guess I didn't die quickly enough for them". Four months later he did die. Thankfully, after Joliet Hospice cruelly dropped him, Heartland Hospice saw that he still qualified for care and they provided services until his death. Heartland Hospice is where people should be going for treatment. read more
