Went with a couple friends to use their space for board game night. Had a good time employees were cool and they had dollar DP which came in clutch. Even bought a card game from their really good selection of board games. If you have not been for sure a place to check out. Cheers. read more

This store is the perfect example of why game stores are dying all across the country. Every time I walk into a game store I am ready to spend money. However, this store, like many other stores have a staff that could care less whether you are there or not. I walked in with my wife, and the sole employee never looked up from the video game he was playing. He never said, hello, never acknowledged our presence, nothing. We were looking for board games, and the selection is pretty poor. The games they do have are in the front window and most of the boxes have been bleached out by the sun. Many of the games were released several years ago, but still had new release pricing on them. If you are looking for a good board game, I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

I walked in with my brother and dad to look at magic the gathering stuff, and was completely disregarded. My brother had to sit there and tell the employee it was actually me who was looking at items. I simply went in for tokens, and was completely disregarded. To top it off he acted rudely after I was speaking. I explained what a +1/+1 counter was, and he treated me like I was stupid. Once my brother explained the counter he was like "Oh those can be found on Etsy!" I was aware but I wanted to look in person to see if they had unique ones. I can not recommend this store to any tabletop or ccg player especially new or people looking to get into any of the hobbies or games. The store staff has obviously had no sales or customer relations training what so ever. That fault falls on both them and the owner. Sure he thinks he runs a good game "club" but not a business. First off the store comes with a unknown smell and layout that is a little confusing as where the tables to play are. The employees never welcome anyone that comes in to the store, or ask even ask how can I help you? Secondly they have no system really in place for players to want to play with new people or how they do events or if they do any at all or if someone wants to learn how to play! Thirdly, I have been to this place multiple times to think about getting back into some of my hobbies and games but the store and staff make it so unwelcoming that I'd rather play with a random dude off of Craig's list in his mums garage than here. Multiple, and I mean multiple times I was in the middle of an interaction with an employee and just some of their regular customers interrupts our conversation like they work there and act like it's not a big deal. That's how you can tell the culture that has been developed is not positive to new customers or players. This alone has made me hesitant to do business with this place. Finally with the recent developments and controversy around a certain company using a private detective agency in a manner most would consider a bit excessive. An employee went on a tirade about how the company was right and I mean a tirade full of emotion that made me want to walk out before he finished. I'm an adult and let him finish and I realized this guy never asked me or assumed what I thought of the situation because all I said was "the guy handled it better than I would have" that's what triggered this employee into protecting what is now perceived as "bad" company both in the eyes of its customers and even major banks. After he finished I simply said " Well have a nice day" in a calm matter and turned around and walked out. Before I even got outside I knew that this store was done with my business and my support. If you are in the Waco area and want something the opposite of this I would go check out Kings Landing and Bankstons Collectibles on Valley Mills. They are more approachable staff that actually welcome you inside. read more

This is a neat gaming space. I was going to say little but it's huge inside. It's very much geared towards wargames and miniatures with big, expansive tables and walls of minis, paints and the like. They do have a couple of shelves of roleplaying games and what looks to be a pretty active Magic the Gathering community. Seriously this place is big. I've been to conventions that were held in smaller places. The only limitation to a gaming event here is the number of people you could recruit. No squeezing past crowded tables here! Board games are the second biggest feature by far hear with one of the long walls set aside for board games of all stripes. Board game rentals are available for a modest $3 per game, an excellent price point for a try-before-you-buy session. The space is clean and the staff are friendly, I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. It seems like a great, welcoming place that's an asset to the Waco gaming community. read more

My wife and I went a couple of days ago. We tried a few other spots in Waco, but none had the selection that this place had, nor the atmosphere. What set it apart was the customer service. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed. We told him we were looking for some new games and he took it from there. He asked us what our preferences were and then guided us through a handful of games that he thought we'd like. To be honest, he could have easily conned us because he was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that we ended up getting two games instead of one. But the cool thing is that we absolutely love the ones that he suggested for us! The general atmosphere was great too. The staff knew many of the people coming and going, and there was a gameplay area where everyone seemed to be having a great time. Overall awesome experience. As a board game enthusiast, I think I finally found my go-to spot! read more

This place is so cool! Board games upon board games. Very large working areas. Scheduled meetups for table top games. Large snack bar for reasonable prices. I LOVE taking my kids here. We can play games, get a snack, and have fun for several hours together for less than $10. The owner is always around and is very knowledgeable and always willing to accommodate however he can. Soon-to-be moving up to Waco from Austin, where I am used to the likes of Dragon's Lair, Emerald's Tavern, and Mothership. I should say up front that I am not a frequenter of places such as these, but every once in a while I will peek in or go to play a simple game with friends. So I wanted to check out what Waco had to offer, and this seemed to be the place. I was interested in obtaining a copy of Munchkins for myself, and also had that in mind. Very impressed. They have a big space and tables, and a decent store of games and expansions. But that's not really what impressed me. In fact, their current setup is pretty barebones in the big space (although I am confident that there will be much interior development in the future). What impressed me were the clerks and employees. Very personable, friendly, know what they're talking about. Able to talk to me about games I that I honestly have no interest in but I enjoyed talking to them about it. Threw in freebies with my purchase and some trivia about Conan Munchkins (which I didn't purchase) that was fascinating. Felt like friendly acquaintances with some of the staff there after my first visit and I wasn't even trying to or thinking of achieving any type of familiarity, I just wanted munchkins. On top of everything, they're about to be holding fundraising tourneys for cancer! Cool place. Very cool people. Will be back. read more

He said they didn't have that one but to check another store he recommended. We went in this evening anyway to see what they had and he asked if I called about the particular collection because the other guy I talked to set one aside in case we came in. This is a fantastic store that deals with board games, role-playing games, trading cards games, etc. But nothing electronic!!!!!! Your greeted as soon as you walk in the door into a giant floor space with huge tables set up so you can play games that you bring with you, so it costs absolutely nothing. If you want you can take a look at there game wall and rent one for the entire day for $3.00, and if you like it enough to buy it those $3.00 go towards the purchase of the game. You will find kids and adults alike playing Pokemon, Magic, and many other games all day long. If you have a question their staff is very knowledgable about all the games and very friendly and willing to take time to help you out. They may even sit down and play a game with you. The Game Closet has a new owner who is very friendly and loves his job. He makes sure the place is clean at all times. They have something going on almost everyday, and hold tournements and drafts throughout the week. A very enjoyable time is had everytime I go, and my 10 year old son has a blast too.
