I love stopping by this toy store to see what cool and new toys I can get my kid. They have a unique selection which is refreshing in comparison to the assortment at Walmart or Target. I found the mini, gold edition, Super Mario remote-controlld car here-- it was on my kids' Christmas list, so, I can only assume that this is where Santa bought it. Five stars!!! I absolutely love shopping at Game Chest in the Palos Verdes! Every visit feels so magical and welcoming, which makes it one of my favorite spots. I get my Sonny's here. Diane is amazing, she's always so excited to show me the newest toys and her enthusiasm makes the whole experience even more fun. They always have a great selection, and I enjoy browsing through all the treasures. My only suggestion would be to carry more pins like Tokidoki, Sanrio, Disney and expand the blind box section those are always so popular and would make the store even better. Located in the Palos Verdes shopping center near the ice rink. My friends and I walked in and there are a lot of board games, pokemon cards, one piece cards, etc. Some of the Pokemon ETB's were more than retail but available. Staff is friendly and welcoming! read more

The good: This place just opened on August 19th and is right behind the ice skating rink. I came in with my family and was impressed how large the store was. There were lots of board games, dolls, figurines, baby accessories (binkies, plushies), and more. Prices for toys varied from $4 small toys to expensive larger ones. My toddler enjoyed perusing the store. There were so many cute items here! It's a great spot to pickup a gift for people of all ages (since they have classic board games like backgammon as well). The bad: We ended up getting a "My First Barbie" doll for $27 (plus tax if was around $32-34). It came in four different models which was so cool but I just discovered it's $13.99 on Amazon. This store marked it up by double! I could understand if it was slightly more expensive here because it's a boutique-style store but double is a lot. The manager Spencer is the best! He's been such a great advocate for my son and his card playing interest. Very supportive of helping kids have a place to play card games and even offering some perks to good customers. We visit often and are always greeted with a great attitude. We love this place. I debated writing this review because ultimately this is a toy store, ever since Toy R Us went out of business, it's been hard to find a decent one. I also thought that maybe I was being too critical but after seeing Adri's review, I know it's not me. The elderly red haired employee is very rude. She strikes me as the type of person that doesn't like children, which is fine.... But don't work at a toy shop then. I overheard her complain about how the owner wants things stacked a certain way. She was also scolded a child after his mother did. The 4 year old started to run out of excitement and immediately the mother told him not to. The employee scolded him on top of that. Then the child was near the front door and the mother told him to stay inside. And again, the employee scolded the child. Stay in your lane lady. I asked the employee if they had any Thomas the Train toys and she just told me no. She didn't offer any other options like other trains. read more

What a fun place with a large selection of toys and games that I never knew existed! I purchased a few items for my soon to be 5 year old niece and will for sure be back for Christmas shopping! I love this store! If you grew up in PV like me, it has all the feels of Small Wonder (IYKYK Peacock Alley, The Avenue, The Promenade). They have great selection of baby toys to board and card games for adults. They also have this amazing "secret" room we rented for my daughters party or you can even rent by the tables by the hour to just hang out and play games (they have games to borrow, you can bring your own, or you can buy a game from them also...we've done all 3). I've read some other reviews about them charging higher prices than Amazon...um rents in PV, worker wages, and workers comp add astronomically more to the cost of things in a store like this than what a seller on Amazon has to pay, thus the higher price. We need to have more stores like Game Chest in PV then less, so buy local! read more

Amazing selection and something for everyone in a nice, clean, welcoming store. Employees were super knowledgeable, and helped me to pick out board games and dice to match my characters. Love this store! I've been coming to their main store in Del amo for years so when they opened one up right by my house I had to go there! Their selection is great and while their prices are a little bit higher than what you can find on Amazon, the staff are so nice, they are always willing to help, and I love being able to support a local store. Elderly women with bright red hair wearing glasses was pretty rude. I asked if I could see a new box of the sonny angels sweets she denied it even though the original set that was out only had three. I let her know that the other chain store opened a new one when there was only a couple left. She started to complain and rolled her eyes when getting a new box but I could tell from then on she didn't wanted me there. Also I was the only customer in the store I felt very uncomfortable and don't believe I will be going back. I recommend going to the Del Amo store there staff is much nicer and welcoming. Also I called in advance with some questions to ask and the same lady said that the store was busy but when getting there it was completely empty. I don't think retail is a really good fit for this person if she can't accommodate even one person in a empty store. She should try something else or have someone with her to manage the costumes she was very frustrated, unfriendly, rude, and judgmental. I was nice and polite the entire time but her actions made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Please hire better staff this was my first time visiting here:( read more
