The managers/chefs Arnold and Julie pride themselves on the authentic crepes, galettes, hot chocolates and coffees. I worked there for a few days when they were very busy last summer, and I never managed to get my espresso making quite up to their particular standards! All produce is carefully sourced, all organic and much home grown. The crepes are truly delicious, although at the higher end of the budget at up to £6 if you add extra ingredients/toppings. But seriously, the *only* place for decent food on campus. Sadly The Coffee Workshop Creperie struggles to make enough money as the university wont advertise it at all. In fact, this is its third year in operation and it's unlikely to be open for much longer, as the university wants control over all of its cafes - so look forward to further homogenised *choice* on campus. If you get a chance to go to this place please do - if enough people know about it and use it then hopefully the university management can't shut it down!!

What?! French Revolution creperie on campus? Why did no-one tell me? Next to this place, IDS cafe…read morepales into insignificance (sorry guys!). The Coffee Workshop is definitely my new top campus eatery- with an amazing menu of galettes, crepes, sandwiches and salads, they offer everything I could ever want from a cafe! I'm actually sort of worried, as it's just across the road form my building...what's to stop me popping over every lunch time??! Will power, you say? No chance. Crepes are my absolute favourite. The galettes (savoury crepes) are made with wholemeal flour and fillings include cheese, mushrooms, spinach, caramelised onion, goats cheese, chicken, salmon...the list goes on, the choices are pretty much infinite! I sampled the 'Scallop special', which contained cheese, spinach, tomatoes and scallops. It cost £5, which is on the higher end of what you expect to pay for campus food, but it was massive, incredibly filling and delicious! Prices generally range from £3.50-£5. The sweet crepes also look delicious- they do all the usual suspects...lemon and sugar, nutella, maple syrup etc. As well as all this pancakey goodness, you can order other breakfast items such as French toast, waffles and eggs on toast. I'm gushing, I know I am. I'm just too excited about this discovery...campus dining revolutionized! My only complaint is that I left smelling like a giant pancake- the ventilation could definitely be improved!

I wanted something that was grab-and-go, and on the sweet side to wash out the flavor of mediocre pulled pork and cheap macrobrewed beer, so a creperie seemed to be the obvious choice. This stand is in the Inverness Street market, extremely conveniently located right off the Camden Town underground station. The menu is actually fairly extensive for a stand like like this. 20-25 different crepes in all, half sweet and half savory gluten-free galettes(though I believe you can also have these on a flour-based crepe as well). The menu also has beverages, like coffee, fresh juice, and more. The staff are extremely friendly and will happily help you find the perfect crepe to suit your mood. The preparation can also be quite dramatic and fun to watch, which seemed to be a big hit with kids. I wound up with the Africanism, which consisted of your choice of chocolate(white, milk, or dark) combined with coconut and rhum. The crisp edges were perfectly matched with the rich white chocolate. The crunch of the coconut and the slight hint of rhum really added a lot of depth to the flavor of the crepe. I walked away with it piping hot and satiating my sweet tooth and desire for a quick treat. This stand is simple, convenient street food, with 90% of the menu coming in at under 4£, it's a great stop for something easy to eat as you begin your walk through the extensive Camden markets.
