Very cute store in downtown Auburn. We stopped in downtown for lunch on the way back from Tahoe. We had to park up the street so walked past the place on the way to and from the car. One of my sisters immediately said she wanted to go in there after lunch so we did just that. The whole store was decorated top to bottom in fall and Halloween items. Everyone in my family found a couple of things to purchase. My only callouts would be that it would be nice if they cared some local things or at least called out what in the store was from local vendors. I love the Front Porch! I get a great coffee at The Pour Choice across the street then wander over. Thay do an amazing job of displaying their wares. I circle the store many times as there are lots of hidden treasures. The employees (I believe they are the owners) are always nice and very helpful. OMG! If you are looking for an adorable, fun and beautiful shop to buy a gift... this is it! We were having coffee across the street and noticed this store and just had to pop in...an hour and four bags later we left with some amazing gifts and some great ideas. The owners, Tom and Gayle were just delightful and really wanted to engage with each customer. It was obvious they love their store and talking with people. I will be traveling this way a few times a year and I am looking forward to making Auburn my new rest stop and a visit to this store will be a must. read more

The Front Porch is worth a stop when visiting Old Town Auburn. If I weren't trying to pare down my home, I would easily buy a lot here. In fact, I don't think I have ever left the store without buying something. The emphasis is on seasonal decor. My most recent visit found the Halloween merchandise on sale and lots of items for Thanksgiving and, of course, Christmas. My one complaint: Almost too much merchandise is crammed into what is a fairly large space. In my mind, it is a rather dated look. read more

This is one of my favorite small local shops to visit. We try to come at least once per season to see what's new and to see the beautiful merchandising!! It's on Sacramento Street in Old Town Auburn. Kind of hard to park at peak times. It's fun to spend the day here walking around. The Front Porch has beautiful home decor items and holiday decorating items. I always buy something! This was a nice little store. We wandered in and was just browsing. Our eyes went right to some of their Christmas decor stuff. Everything was 50% off! Music to our ears!! Lol. Funny...we actually didn't need it. However, it was a really cute table top Christmas tree. You know...for the busy schedule years, but you don't want to not have decor up. Something sparkly!! :-) We also found this wrought iron tree. ( table top size ) It's great to hang that handmade expensive breakables!! Lol. Anyhow...this store sold a little of everything. I saw scarves, wooden block letters and sayings, home decor, and so on. Very homey. The lady there was extremely nice. We will be back to snoop more!! Lol. :-) read more

My sister and I had been here a couple years ago and were completely delighted with the wonderful and unique selections of home decor and gifts. I particularly love their seasonal offerings as I love to decorate tastefully for all seasons and holidays...THIS IS THE PLACE! So, two years later a stop here was at the top of our day in Auburn. For some reason we could not remember exactly where the place was and on what street (maybe old age???). We pressed on and two hours later much to our delight WE FOUND THE PLACE...so worth the search! The store is in an historical building and is beautifully merchandised you could spend hours there (I actually would like to live there!)! Barbara and Jim who were working at the time couldn't be nicer; have also met the owners on our previous trip...talented and super nice as well. This store USED to be our favorite store and to spend money at when we visit in old town auburn UNTIL today. I don't know if there are new owners or just horrible nasty unfriendly workers, but we had the worst experience today. First we walk in and not ONE greeting from either of the workers. There was a middle aged lady and an older man. When we walked in, the lady actually started pretending like she was straightening out the shelves, but it was clear she was "checking" us out. I mean, I was with my 70 year old mom, my middle aged cousin and my 2 kids! Like we normally do, we place items that we want to purchase at the front counter so we don't have to carry them as we look for other items. You would think we would get ONE smile from the 2 workers at that point, but NOPE. Just cold and nasty attitude. My son and daughter at that point had picked up a stuffed animal that was at arms reach in the damn kids area and asked the worker a question about it. The lady gave a short cold answer while the man glared at my kids. My son, who is 2, hugged the stuffed animal, with his mask ON. We went to put the stuffed animal back on the shelf. Fast forward 15 minutes when we went to check out, the man says to us "so...are you going to purchase that stuffed animal that your son just put his mouth all over?" I looked at him shocked. I asked him if he was serious and he said "yes, but fine, we can write it off!" As he went back to nonchalantly ringing up our items, I said "if it's really that big of a deal, I'll purchase it". That's when he did a total 180 and said "oh no, totally not a big deal". I looked at him like are you sticking kidding me?! In hindsight I should've just walked out without purchasing a THING. In ADDITION to that, when my cousin went up to the counter to purchase her $35 throw pillow, the man says to her "oh, is that all?!" I mean, COME ON, really???? We were literally the only people in that store the entire time we were there. I don't know where these workers and this store get off thinking they can afford to be so blatantly rude and just asinine. Is your store doing so well that you can be such a******s?! Something tells me the answer to that question is NO. Or maybe it's because we are Asian?!?!?! Who knows, but YOU HAVE HANDS DOWN LOST LOYAL CUSTOMERS WHO AT ONE TIME LOVED PURCHASING ITEMS FROM YOUR STORE AND LOVED REFERRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY. DONE read more

This is hands down my favorite store to visit, especially during the holiday season. My mom and I visited on small business Saturday last November and I picked up a couple of great LED pictures and little decorative figurines. I was happy to find even more decorations for Valentine's Day on a recent visit. They have such a unique and charming collection of vintage items that I've not found anywhere else in the great Sacramento region. The staff is always so helpful and pleasant, it is worth the extra few minutes of driving from Sacramento. I hope this store is around for years to come. I shop here about once per year, I travel NorCal and the West in general a lot. Was very disappointed when today, at 4:40 p.m., after traveling 1700 miles - yes that is 1700, not a type-o, a full 20 minutes before closing time me and 3 other hopeful patrons were told by an older, gray-haired man that "we're closing now but will be open tomorrow at 10 a.m." Yeah, I don't think your base is actually in Auburn, needless to say 10 a.m. tomorrow is a Monday....so.....yeah.....won't actually be in Auburn.....but...THE GOOD NEWS: I DISCOVERED LEAL'S COOP RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND IT'S A MUCH, MUCH BETTER SHOP!! This is a real gem of the foothills! This place has amazing items for the home,office, garden, cabin,ect. Great for getting that special someone a gift or a friend you don't know that well something unique. You can't go wrong. It was decorated beautifully for Halloween and the man and woman working in the store were super friendly and helpful.
