Smaller hotel in a central location!! The price is good for what you get! We had the Rococo Room which has a couch and sitting area. The bed was super comfy, Keurig in room, water bottles available, friendly desk staff greeting you every time you walk by with a smile! It's hard to complain when the breakfast is free (well.. included) but coffee situation was make your own in a coffee press. I like it but the breakfast attendant was hardly helpful. I enjoyed the yogurt and berries. They also offered bagels, sweet pastries and lox.. just limited amounts of everything and again, the attendant not very helpful/or just gone. I would go back for sure!

Since the city was playing host to the Cable-Tec Expo, finding a room in Philadelphia was near impossible for Tuesday night. My go-to for bargain basement deals on hotels, Priceline, had nothing for me. Same with the recommendations given me by yelpers in the know; every hotel was booked. Alas, I took a risk and booked two rooms, for myself and a colleague, at Rittenhouse 1715. On the morning of my one night stay, past the cancellation period, my colleague fell ill and could not make it to Philly. I rang up Rittenhouse 1715 and explained the situation to Audrey, who took my number and promised to call back once she spoke with the General Manager. When she did she let me know they'd been able to rent the room and I'd only be responsible for payment on the room I was staying in. Though they were well within their rights to charge me for it, they didn't. This endeared me to Rittenhouse 1715 right away and this was before I ever arrived. When I did make it to this 23 room boutique hotel, I was delighted. And not just because I saw a cake stand filled with appetizing looking sweet treats like mini brownies waiting for me in the lobby! The staff members welcomed me as though they were expressly waiting for me to arrive. They thought nothing of it when my credit card asked for a call in authorization and simply asked, "Have you been in many states, recently?" In fact, I had. Virginia, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania. . . I was given a tour of the grounds and my luggage was carried to my room where a full explanation of the climate management system and the operation of the television and cable was given - talk about attention to detail! I had a Yelp Elite event to attend so I missed the evening wine reception that took place at 5:30 but if it was anything like the continental breakfast this morning, I am sure it was well-appointed. The location couldn't be better; the hotel is right on Rittenhouse Square, but lies on a small, quaint side street. On the night I was there the hotel was fully booked and yet, I never heard a peep out of any of the other guests. I was grateful for this, and the quiet helped me bang out a few hours of work that needed doing. My room was spacious, with enough room to move around and a writing desk to work from. When I arrived back from the event, I noticed that my room had been turned down: chocolate on the pillow, a small bottle of water next to the bed, and the coverlet removed but all of my things placed back on the bed in exactly the way I'd left them. Case in point, the magazine I left open was still on the same page! Impressive! I have a suggestion for improvement: hotter water. The temperature in my shower was more than warm, but not hot. And this morning was one where I needed a little more steam. To that end, the shower also didn't drain as quickly as one might expect. My guess is this is easily remedied. The dedication to detail shown by the staff, combined with the sumptuous surroundings made my stay at Rittenhouse 1715 a truly five star experience. Highly recommended.

I'm a fan of B&B's, so when I saw Rittenhouse and read the reviews, I was immediately intrigued. The location is excellent as its walking distance to some of Philly's best restaurants, as well as other attractions the city had to offer. It's also one of the nicest neighborhoods in all of Philly. From this standpoint, it was great. The hotel itself, I must say. was just ok. Having stayed in many boutique/B&B type hotels, this one just wasn't up to par from my standpoint. The room was on the older side and so was the furniture. Wires from the television were hanging and stretching across the wall, giving the room a bit of a "thrown together" feel. The bed was just ok and the bathroom was fine as well. They have a wine and cheese happy hour that is nice and relaxing. It's in a back room in the lobby with cozy chairs and a nice setup. Frankly, this room was a more accurate reflection of what I was expecting from the actual hotel room. From a location standpoint, this is probably the best in the city. Room wise, I just wasn't impressed with this hotel.

My husband I stayed at this excellent boutique hotel and attended a wedding nearby. From the moment we walked in, I fell in love with the decor and warmth of the staff. Our room was a standard room with a king bed, beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. The bride and groom had a large suite and was just as pleased if not more than we were. Can't wait to go back and hopefully more than one night!

Cozy, friendly and within decent range of my destinations. Parking was easy as they have a small lot at the back of the building. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great. My room was on the 3rd floor, so beware if you are bring a lot of luggage as there are no elevators (not that I was expecting any). I reserved this room as I wanted the fireplace. My only caveat: If you plan on using the fireplace, it is gas, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it on the first night. I asked the next morning and didn't realize I had to ask for the pilot light to be lit. It was early October and it had just gotten cool out. The hosts were so accommodating! There is a small pantry area where there is a fridge for common use if needed with bottled water and coffee/tea available. (Keurig and Kcups). This was my first time booking a B&B and it was the perfect experience. My only SLIGHT disappointment was that the Wi-Fi left a little to be desired. It was sometimes spotty, but still got me through. I would most definitely recommend it and if I am in the Philly area, would book it again in a heartbeat!

We were so worn down after a day of travel and the bad Airbnb experience that we would have taken anything clean, but were pleasantly surprised by the pristine, peaceful, beautiful suite that we got. The owners were very understanding of our situation and helped us get settled right away. They were great about helping us get trolley tokens and find our way downtown so we could enjoy what was left of the day. In addition, since it was my birthday they even surprised us with cake and champagne. The morning breakfast was also great and checkout was easy. I am a Penn alum but somehow didn't know about the Gables. It is now my go to place for trips to Philadelphia, I can't recommend it enough. Thanks to the owners for a great stay!

I haven't written a review in ages, but feel compelled to alert other travelers. We stayed in the Lafayette which was spacious but run down and dirty. I could see past that if it hadn't been for the worst service I've ever experienced in a stay. We arrived for breakfast an hour and a half before it was over. The table linens were stained (on literally every table) and the coffee pot was nearly empty (with luke warm coffee). When an employee finally came out from the back and I politely said the coffee was out, we got an earful about her "not making another pot," "it will go to waste or they'll just have to save it for tomorrow." She said we could use the keurig because she wasn't making more. She continued to go on about them trying to save money, complaining about people taking cups from where they weren't supposed to, people with gluten allergies, and on and on. I've traveled all over the world and stayed at several B&Bs. I'm used to B&Bs being charming and welcoming, but here I felt like I was being lectured -- like I hadn't read all the paperwork or something. It was so unexpected , unpleasant, and uncomfortable. Most places go out of their way to show you the space and share details. I received a welcome email before arriving saying staff would happily assist in making recommendations, dinner reservations, etc. I actually replied and got no response. There was never any staff who expressed anything close to this kind of hospitality. The next morning when we went to store our luggage before leaving, the desk was unattended. Someone went to seek help and we were met with the same annoyed employee from breakfast the previous day. I said I wanted to make sure we didn't need tags or to inform anyone that we're leaving luggage (as the sign at the front desk indicates), and she --again, annoyed-- said "I don't even know why it says that, we don't have time for that" and removed it from the counter. We attempted to contact the manager Maria twice about concerns and have yet to receive a return call. Location is lovely. Rooms are below average. Service is laughable.

My husband really liked the historic appeal, and I liked the proximity to the historic sites. I also liked the promise of the continental breakfast and the images we saw promised more, but more on that later. When we arrived in Philadelphia, we assumed that the "L" would bring us quicker to the hotel and closer than what we were informed. We were told by the hotel staff to get off at the 8th and Market stop, but instead followed the conductor's instructions, who told us to get off at Jefferson station, which we did. From the fashion shops at that station to the hotel, it was perhaps a few blocks or a 10 minute walk. We didn't mind, but I wouldn't consider this if I were traveling with children or a lot of luggage. The hotel is located in an alleyway, and not what I pictured. There is a tall, modern apartment building in front of it and it is really close to a hospital, and lots of other very tall modern buildings. The hotel, like other old historic buildings, including nearby Independence Hall, are all surrounded by tall and modern buildings, again not what I pictured. The staff at this hotel weren't on the same page as far as narrating this hotel's interesting history. The young lady who gave us a slight tour and showed us our room didn't tell us the history, such as an older woman who also works at the hotel gave other people some detail I had to listen in on. The hotel is old and very classy. It is definitely a boutique hotel and not a place to stay with children. Our first room was delightfully beautiful. However, the mattress wasn't comfortable, and it felt as if we were sinking head down. We were in room 201 and found that you can hear street traffic from 8th street and particularly the after-hours door, shutting and closing pretty well to keep from a good night's sleep. I would suggest that the hotel fix the after hour's door problem because it's not only that people aren't cognizant of others sleeping above when they enter but that the door is truly noisy, especially when you must shut it firmly to make sure that it is shut. The manager, fortunately, was accommodating and had reassigned us a different room on the other side of the hotel, away from the street and with a more comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was satisfactory, to say the least. There was yogurt, muffins, bagels, small box cereal, small bonabell cheese, coffee, milk, and OJ. The eggs were what I found disappointing. I had seen elsewhere images of small quiches for breakfast, but instead, they had hardboiled eggs. This is not your continental breakfast that you get with waffles at Holiday Inn. There is a restaurant on site, but it opens for lunch and dinner, and I don't recommend it. I reviewed this separately. We ended up going to La Pien cafe and bakery down the street and also found a Starbucks nearby. The best part about this hotel was how close it is to Independence Hall, Congress Hall, and, of course, Liberty Bell. I would recommend staying here if you've never been to Philly and want to visit the historic landmarks. F.Y.I take the Flash (a bus that can be located at the Visitor's center directly behind Liberty Bell). It costs like $5 a day for all main stops and was free the next day after the 4th of July.

My wife went to check in, and I stayed in the car, as I wanted to go look at the town and get some food as we had been on the road for 4 hours. As I sat in the car, I got a surprise of a knock on my window, and it was Mark, one of the owners, who wanted to come introduce himself. I thought that was awesome. He is extremely friendly, and we had a nice chat about the history of the B&B, and the town in general. Mark recommended a couple of great places to eat. We stayed in the English Garden Suite. First and foremost the room was CLEAN! The room was decorated exactly how I expected it to be, fun wallpaper, big king size bed, with big pillows & high ceilings. Mark was kind enough to have the A/C on, as I had called to say we would be there about 2:30, and it was about 95 degrees that day. There was a vintage couch and chair in the room (pics) There was no TV in the room ( Thank God ). The room is perfect for 2 people who haven't over-packed. What the room lacks in size is made up with a huge parlor (pics) downstairs, and a nice sized outdoor porch. In the parlor there is complimentary water, seltzer, coffee, tea, beer and wine! They also had fresh fruit , and candy dishes filled with fun candy, so my wife and I stayed down there for a while listening to the perfectly picked out music playing. The B&B is walking distance to the town, and it's a really fun town to walk around and be a tourist in. There are coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clothing stores, antique stores, (you must check out Jinxed Variety), and an Insomnia cookie shop, and furniture stores. The town even has a vegan bakery, Crust ( we took home some delicious poptarts! ). This B&B is also walking distance to Pretzel Park (look it up). Manayunk is a unique town, lots of hills, pockets of fun areas. I will say the parking can be challenging, but Mark went out of his way to help us...there is street parking, during the day ( pay ), and there is a parking lot that you can stay as long as you want, but you pay by the hour. I believe after 8:00 street parking on Main Street is free. Don't let the parking scare you from coming to this awesome B&B, or this cool town. My biggest regret was that we had to miss breakfast, as we were going antiquing in CT, and well you know how I-95 is. But i am sure you can see from other pictures, and reviews, the breakfast is a real treat here. I look forward to coming back to Manayunk Chambers Guest House, and this fun little town!

We were very pleased to find a parking garage adjacent to the estate and proximity to Old City and its amenities. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Nature, who was very hospitable. We stayed on the third floor and were quickly reminded that we were not in a hotel (i.e., no elevators) and began lugging our bags up the steep staircase. Our room - and the entire house - was as authentic as possible following some minor restoration. The decor was not our cup of tea, but it fit the theme and we were not surprised it was missing some modern touches (i.e., USB outlets, an updated shower, etc.). We stayed here only one night but got to experience breakfast on Sunday morning; fresh pancakes with powdered sugar and blueberries and perfectly cooked sausage links. The hot food was complemented by a continental breakfast spread of fresh fruit, bagel, bread, and pastries. Our only gripe of the entire stay was that our room was extremely warm. The owner informed us upon arrival that "only heat was on" and to use the fan in the room if necessary. Unfortunately, the fan did not suffice and we were forced to prop open a window to cool of the room before we slept. Sadly, we could not keep the windows open while sleeping, because there were no screens and the city is noisy at all hours - especially early in the morning. The restaurant inside the hotel was great too. I don't have any complaints besides the steep valet prices. I will visit again.

My stay at the Canopy Hotel in Philadelphia was exceptional from start to finish. As a Hilton…read moreDiamond member, I really appreciate it when a property recognizes loyalty -- and this hotel absolutely delivered. I was upgraded in advance without even asking, which immediately set the tone for a seamless, elevated stay. The moment I arrived, the front desk greeted me with a warm welcome and a genuine thank‑you for being a loyal Hilton guest. That small gesture goes a long way, and it made me feel valued right away. This hotel has a boutique vibe while still offering the consistency and reliability of the Hilton brand. There's no Diamond Lounge here, which is totally fine -- the property makes up for it with thoughtful touches, great service, and a fantastic location that puts you right in the heart of the city. Plus, the $15 food & beverage credit is a nice perk that I definitely put to good use. Overall, the Canopy Philadelphia blends style, comfort, and hospitality beautifully.
