My husband and I are thinking about booking here for our spring break. Has anyone had any otherworldly experiences because I saw this B&B advertised on haunted PA sites. I do not want to stay in a place where I am afraid to sleep at night. Ghosts?

My husband and I stayed here in June on the top floor suite, my daughter staying in the second bedroom. We did not experience anything.

Cozy, friendly and within decent range of my destinations. Parking was easy as they have a small lot at the back of the building. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great. My room was on the 3rd floor, so beware if you are bring a lot of luggage as there are no elevators (not that I was expecting any). I reserved this room as I wanted the fireplace. My only caveat: If you plan on using the fireplace, it is gas, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it on the first night. I asked the next morning and didn't realize I had to ask for the pilot light to be lit. It was early October and it had just gotten cool out. The hosts were so accommodating! There is a small pantry area where there is a fridge for common use if needed with bottled water and coffee/tea available. (Keurig and Kcups). This was my first time booking a B&B and it was the perfect experience. My only SLIGHT disappointment was that the Wi-Fi left a little to be desired. It was sometimes spotty, but still got me through. I would most definitely recommend it and if I am in the Philly area, would book it again in a heartbeat!

We had originally booked another place on Airbnb but when we arrived it was dirty and we decided to leave. I found the Gables at the last minute and they had a room and allowed us to check in within an hour. The room was amazing. We were so worn down after a day of travel and the bad Airbnb experience that we would have taken anything clean, but were pleasantly surprised by the pristine, peaceful, beautiful suite that we got. The owners were very understanding of our situation and helped us get settled right away. They were great about helping us get trolley tokens and find our way downtown so we could enjoy what was left of the day. In addition, since it was my birthday they even surprised us with cake and champagne. The morning breakfast was also great and checkout was easy. I am a Penn alum but somehow didn't know about the Gables. It is now my go to place for trips to Philadelphia, I can't recommend it enough. Thanks to the owners for a great stay!

The rooms were much more spacious than expected, and all of the amenities were obviously chosen with thoughtful care. The staff was the star of the show - always helpful and kind, which made the trip that much more comfortable. Without us even asking, they placed a bottle of wine with a beautiful handwritten card for our anniversary. Everyone from the manager to the front desk was always attentive and friendly. I found this hotel to be my favorite in Philadelphia partially because of its excellent location. It is located right in Rittenhouse Literally 10 steps to Rittenhouse square and has a feeling of natural peacefulness not present in the hotels deeper in the center city. It was a great feeling to spend the day in the hustle and bustle of the center city, then come back to our peaceful hotel. Additionally, the hotel is a short walk away from excellent restaurants such as Parc and Steak 48, as well as a huge variety of shops surrounding the area. If you're coming to Philadelphia, do yourself a favor and stay at the Rittenhouse. The wonderful staff, ideal location, and upscale furnishings are more than perfect for any trip's needs. We looked at different hotels including the Four Seasons and the Ritz for our special weekend, but we are so happy We went with the Rittenhouse Hotel. I haven't written a review in ages, but feel compelled to alert other travelers. We stayed in the Lafayette which was spacious but run down and dirty. I could see past that if it hadn't been for the worst service I've ever experienced in a stay. We arrived for breakfast an hour and a half before it was over. The table linens were stained (on literally every table) and the coffee pot was nearly empty (with luke warm coffee). When an employee finally came out from the back and I politely said the coffee was out, we got an earful about her "not making another pot," "it will go to waste or they'll just have to save it for tomorrow." She said we could use the keurig because she wasn't making more. She continued to go on about them trying to save money, complaining about people taking cups from where they weren't supposed to, people with gluten allergies, and on and on. I've traveled all over the world and stayed at several B&Bs. I'm used to B&Bs being charming and welcoming, but here I felt like I was being lectured -- like I hadn't read all the paperwork or something. It was so unexpected , unpleasant, and uncomfortable. Most places go out of their way to show you the space and share details. I received a welcome email before arriving saying staff would happily assist in making recommendations, dinner reservations, etc. I actually replied and got no response. There was never any staff who expressed anything close to this kind of hospitality. The next morning when we went to store our luggage before leaving, the desk was unattended. Someone went to seek help and we were met with the same annoyed employee from breakfast the previous day. I said I wanted to make sure we didn't need tags or to inform anyone that we're leaving luggage (as the sign at the front desk indicates), and she --again, annoyed-- said "I don't even know why it says that, we don't have time for that" and removed it from the counter. We attempted to contact the manager Maria twice about concerns and have yet to receive a return call. Location is lovely. Rooms are below average. Service is laughable.

I think I might never be able to enjoy a hotel again without comparing to this one, Morris House is just delightful and worth staying again! A great location for Penn/Jefferson/Tourists/Romance/Getaway seekers, the hotel keeps its Georgian roots will intact with extremely knowledgeable and passionate keepers who lay out cookies and breakfast every day and coffee and tea at any time. There's three separate sitting areas to choose from, all with lit fireplaces to stay cozy against the Philadelphia wilds. Plus an outdoor private courtyard to enjoy if the weather cooperates- full of flora and small lights. In wedding seasons there's a tent to protect in all weather but I am very glad we got to just enjoy the open sky. The rooms all have atmosphere to match with elements of paintings and wooden furniture pieces, but plenty of outlets, closet space, and cool lighting. Slight concerns may be a lack of water pressure for showers, hallway noise is prevalent in the mornings, you do have to pay for parking (reduced with validation). But that's just part of a city hotel and the bathrooms amazing size, modern fixtures, and huge jacuzzi tub make for a truly special experience. So many towels, bathrobes, bottled water, chocolates, and even bath salts just show how care is taken to ensure every part of a guest experience is looked after. I'm not sure I can go back to any other hotel after knowing this sort of place isn't just a dream!

We were going to crash at his house, but he and his wife are looking to buy a house in Manayunk, and wanted our opinion of the town, so they said " we got you a B&B, go explore" and I am so glad we did, as we love going to places we have never been to. My wife went to check in, and I stayed in the car, as I wanted to go look at the town and get some food as we had been on the road for 4 hours. As I sat in the car, I got a surprise of a knock on my window, and it was Mark, one of the owners, who wanted to come introduce himself. I thought that was awesome. He is extremely friendly, and we had a nice chat about the history of the B&B, and the town in general. Mark recommended a couple of great places to eat. We stayed in the English Garden Suite. First and foremost the room was CLEAN! The room was decorated exactly how I expected it to be, fun wallpaper, big king size bed, with big pillows & high ceilings. Mark was kind enough to have the A/C on, as I had called to say we would be there about 2:30, and it was about 95 degrees that day. There was a vintage couch and chair in the room (pics) There was no TV in the room ( Thank God ). The room is perfect for 2 people who haven't over-packed. What the room lacks in size is made up with a huge parlor (pics) downstairs, and a nice sized outdoor porch. In the parlor there is complimentary water, seltzer, coffee, tea, beer and wine! They also had fresh fruit , and candy dishes filled with fun candy, so my wife and I stayed down there for a while listening to the perfectly picked out music playing. The B&B is walking distance to the town, and it's a really fun town to walk around and be a tourist in. There are coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clothing stores, antique stores, (you must check out Jinxed Variety), and an Insomnia cookie shop, and furniture stores. The town even has a vegan bakery, Crust ( we took home some delicious poptarts! ). This B&B is also walking distance to Pretzel Park (look it up). Manayunk is a unique town, lots of hills, pockets of fun areas. I will say the parking can be challenging, but Mark went out of his way to help us...there is street parking, during the day ( pay ), and there is a parking lot that you can stay as long as you want, but you pay by the hour. I believe after 8:00 street parking on Main Street is free. Don't let the parking scare you from coming to this awesome B&B, or this cool town. My biggest regret was that we had to miss breakfast, as we were going antiquing in CT, and well you know how I-95 is. But i am sure you can see from other pictures, and reviews, the breakfast is a real treat here. I look forward to coming back to Manayunk Chambers Guest House, and this fun little town!

We were very pleased to find a parking garage adjacent to the estate and proximity to Old City and its amenities. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Nature, who was very hospitable. We stayed on the third floor and were quickly reminded that we were not in a hotel (i.e., no elevators) and began lugging our bags up the steep staircase. Our room - and the entire house - was as authentic as possible following some minor restoration. The decor was not our cup of tea, but it fit the theme and we were not surprised it was missing some modern touches (i.e., USB outlets, an updated shower, etc.). We stayed here only one night but got to experience breakfast on Sunday morning; fresh pancakes with powdered sugar and blueberries and perfectly cooked sausage links. The hot food was complemented by a continental breakfast spread of fresh fruit, bagel, bread, and pastries. Our only gripe of the entire stay was that our room was extremely warm. The owner informed us upon arrival that "only heat was on" and to use the fan in the room if necessary. Unfortunately, the fan did not suffice and we were forced to prop open a window to cool of the room before we slept. Sadly, we could not keep the windows open while sleeping, because there were no screens and the city is noisy at all hours - especially early in the morning. Overall, it was an interesting experience. But, we will most likely book a hotel during our next overnight visit to the City of Brotherly Love.
