I recently took my second project to Gary. I was pleased with the first small job he'd done for me,…read moreso I thought I could trust him with a bigger one. While I'd love to leave a review saying I could recommend him to others and that I'd be using his services again, I just can't. Gary is a master craftsman, but severely lacking in professionalism. I dropped my one of a kind vintage map (worth $220) with him May 2024 and didn't get it back until February 2025. It took me five in-person visits asking for status updates and one threatening phone call to finally get it back. He promised me multiple completion dates each time I dropped in to inquire about when he thought it would be done. Each time I was told a different excuse for why it wasn't ready. Truthfully, after the third visit I thought maybe he had lost it. After the fifth in-person conversation with no indication he was any further along in the process as when I brought it to him, I decided I was done giving him the benefit of the doubt. I called and told him he had a week to finish it and that I was coming to pick it up on Friday regardless of whether or not it was ready. He texted me the Thursday before his one week notice that it was ready for me. I'm still not exactly sure what the hold up was, but I can't help but feel like he had been taking advantage of my kindness and trust for months. Personally, when you have given someone something special/sentimental of yours that may or may not be of high value AND you're paying them $630 to do a job for you, at a minimum I believe they owe you clear communication on the status of that work and execution of promised deadlines. I was so eager to be done with this experience, I quickly paid, grabbed my finally framed item, and got out of there. I write this review not to diminish the quality of his work, but to caution and warn others about the stress you may experience by placing this responsibility into his hands. If you do choose to use his services, my advice would be to get a deadline in writing that you can hold him to, and take immediate and firm action if it is unfulfilled. Personally, I'd just rather avoid working with him again altogether.

(As seen in pics) The two original Manifesto-Art-Prints "Save the Whales" and "Save the Seas" donated by Hundertwasser were handed over to Greenpeace Pacific Southwest and the Jacques Cousteau Society (Norfolk) in December 1982. I bid on it at a Cousteau / National Geographic fundraiser and went home with it in that frame. I was proud to own a piece of my heritage and thrilled to support the Cousteau Society, just as my grandfather had. I can't remember how but I know at some point, I knocked it off the wall moving something in 2014 and recognized it was time to take it to the framer. It needed a new frame, and to be remounted. I have known Gary for a decade, and prior to this I recommended him to everybody. After he had it for almost a year and a half I was preparing to move to Boston, so I gave him six months notice. When I moved I didn't have it. And now 5+ yrs later, I've heard every reason why he can't get it to me: "i've moved," "it's in a warehouse," "I've been out," "I don't have time." I am penning this review to WARN others that they too could loose something they love. This review is so long overdue. Getting stuff framed is difficult and expensive. I used to work as…read morean artist assistant and framed many things in my house myself, but I save the hard stuff for the professionals. Enter the purchase of LA BLOB- after years of obsessing over this movie poster, I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. When I unwrapped it, the entire poster took up my QUEEN BED. I was completely overwhelmed and asked a friend (artist and framer) where I could possibly take such a thing. He responded immediately with Allen framers. Harry worked to find me a wonderful frame that would complement the poster and helped with the install. He worked with my budget and had great suggestions about what would make the poster look good and what I should consider for resale value. I have since brought him other very complicated items to frame (including a shirt). Could not recommend more! Seriously great job!

I have always been impressed by the quality of their work and the professionalism of their staff. They have been a huge help to me as I got work ready to deliver to numerous group and solo exhibitions. Some of my pieces are three dimensional paper works that present particular challenges. Staff at Framers Workroom developed a special structure to present my folded paper lenticular pictures. They have also framed my work in shadowbox frames. I have had times when I needed to get a lot of work ready at once for exhibitions and they've been wonderful helping me meet deadlines. They have a wide selection of mats and have given me great advice on selecting the best choices for each piece. As an exhibiting artist, I view them as valuable partners in my practice.

I've had a 7 of my photographs framed here in the past two years and initially I was really…read morepleased but their work does not age well. Two of my pieces are hanging in an exhibition right now that I had framed here exactly one year ago. The prints are warped and wavy under the glass now. I suppose I should have asked if they would mount the prints first but that is standard ( and they didn't ask me if I wanted it mounted so I assumed it would be). It's framing 101 with paper work- it will warp if it is not mounted and for the prices they charge they should have mounted the photos before framing. I'm horrified as I sold 3 of the seven I framed here and gifted another two - I'm horrified to think how those works look now. I am an actively exhibiting artist and I thought I had found my " forever framers" . I am very disappointed at the professionalism of this place and I do not recommend their services to anyone. --------Added IN REPLY TO THEIR RESPONSE on google : I have several pieces of photographic work framed over 10 years ago that are not waving under the glass. That is because the job was done properly. The works I have hanging right now have been stored in an air conditioned climate controlled space so blaming me here isn't going to work. Yes paper work will wave under glass if not properly stored but also if not properly framed, as you seem to know this then the you either 1-take the proper precautions while framing 2- bring it up and ask the client if that is a concern for them. I figured you were just doing it the proper way, I should not have assumed that is my fault. However at the prices charged for the work close to 300$ for each work and for what looks like a professional work space I assumed you would treat my work as the professional work that it is. You have one job as the name of the business implies. One can only conclude that you are cutting corners, cost saving or being sloppy, none of these are acceptable when it comes to business. A customer should not have to ask for the basics of framing BUT if they don't ask then it is your obligation to bring it up. Again you have one job- framing. As to writing this review before coming to you, the work is already hanging (embarrassingly) in a show at a museum. The other works have gone to their new owners (embarrassingly) and I have to live with knowing that the clients will think I delivered shoddy non archival work to them not realizing I was being taken advantage of by the framers. As I said I am a working artist and have been for a while, I sell work and have had work framed all over the world. This is the worst experience I have ever had. For the record - these prints are made a high quality archival photographic paper. A framer is the last stop in work being presented to the world and your establishment would do well to take that more seriously in the future. You are only as good as the work you put out into the world. That goes for everyone. What is done is done now. Coming to you when the show is over is pointless, my poorly framed work is hanging in a museum and my reputation is damaged because you guys couldn't do your job. Do better.
