I came in to get a piece of art framed and I needed help with how to design it. I was greeted warmly by the staff and the shop dog. I had an idea what I wanted to design, and I was shown many options. In the end, I was guided to the right choice and I can't wait to pick it up! This is not as budget friendly as some big box stores, but they are out of business, and the Frame Shop is still here. You get what you pay for. read more

I've used them a couple times for framing and have been really pleased. They were patient with my search for the perfect frame and matte which was not easy. Prices are reasonable and they try to help you save by offering in stock material at half price. Can't wait to pick up this beauty next week. read more

There is a reason they have been in business for so long. They are really really good at what they do! We have been here a number of times both for new framing and some repairs on an old piece that was in need of remounting. They know what they are doing and will recommend what will work best for you and not what is the most expensive. They are always friendly and professional. Framing is expensive, but it is an art and a skill. I truly believe when getting a piece of art-work framed you get what you pay for. They worked with us to reframe antique print It was in desperate need due to some water damage to the matting. Also, the frame was coming apart and the adhesive had dried out and the print was shifting. They were able to renovate the frame and secure the print in acid-free matting. They are definitely the best place in town to get your treasured items framed. read more

We had a very good experience. The frame of our very large piece of wall sustained damage during an interstate move. Their repair work was flawless and everyone at Lakeside, from Addison to Michelle, was very polite and helpful. The work was complete within the time estimated and for a reasonable price. They even replace and upgraded the hardware on the back of the frame. We were impressed and plan to make Lakeside our destination for any future framing needs. Thank you, Lakeside! read more

Kind friendly people work here!! They have an outstanding selection of framing materials and even a few already framed pieces for sale. Let's try really hard to keep this small local business in business!! Art tends to be a discretionary purchase when inflation hits so many so hard, so choose local for your framing needs. read more

Frame-Shop @ Lakeside is extremely well run, professional, insightful with respect to what framing works well in what settings, and all-around a great shop. I came in 30-minutes before close with a large project. I was greeted by the owners and they walked me through various options I was afforded through their extensive collective/catalog. We landed on an option that I felt would be beautiful in my home. The staff offered extremely sound advice with respect to what type of framing style should be used -- I'm very pleased with not just the border of the frame, but also how the print is hung in a "floating" fashion within the frame, which exposes some beautiful details in the artwork. I'm also grateful that the owner recommended that I _not_ splurge on the most expensive acrylic to protect the artwork. I feel that we made an excellent balance between quality and affordability. Thank you Frame Shop @ Lakeside, I'll be a repeat customer most definitely!! read more

Given the current Covid epidemic, I wanted to help support local business when I had a framing need. As it turns out this shop has been family/locally run for many years. With Christmas looming, I needed a present for my oldest daughter. I remembered a print we bought from an artist at Sac Anime the year before and thought it would be nice to make it more presentable. The staff was incredibly courteous and helpful. They even had a "poster" special which worked perfectly. I know custom framing is expensive, but their rate was quite reasonable. Even better, despite the holiday rush and my late submission they were still able to finish just before Christmas. My daughter loved it! read more

The staff here provided great assistance with recommending frames and matting. I never felt rushed and pressured into making a decision until all alternatives were exhausted. The framing job was done in a reasonable time frame and all my frames came out looking great!! I highly recommend this locally owned business! And so nice!! An added bonus is they're dog friendly!! read more

Just never go anywhere else for framing. After having an expensive and UN satisfying experience elsewhere in Reno as re: framing I found this shop on line. Some thing shouldn't change and a good framers is one of those things. This shop carries frames I have not seen available in 30 years. Emily the salesperson was excellent help. A good eye & helpful with suggestions but not pushy. And she didn't mind when I touched a thousand frames & made a mess on her counter. GORGEOUS result. read more

This is hands down the best print shop. I am a fine artist and often sell prints. This shop went well out of their way to provide the best framing for my client even through a lot of mistakes on the printing job on my part. He worked through it and made the highest quality piece. Going to any other place to frame anything would be a mistake! Highest quality and the best service out there. read more

Older female worker (manager maybe in her late 60s/early 70s?) was honestly incredibly rude and acted like she could not be bothered. Constantly had sassy attitude from the moment we stepped in, despite the fact that we were paying an absurd amount of money for something that could've been done at Michael's with less hassle and cash. Other workers were actually very pleasant, though, and the frame was good quality. Unfortunately, after waiting for 3 weeks to pick it up, they framed it in the wrong orientation even though we walked them through and they wrote down (on the back of the art piece) which side was up and down. Just decided to hang it 90* tilted instead of go back in and deal with the manager again. Overall, very expensive ordeal to get treated like we weren't welcome by manager and have our art ultimately framed incorrectly. I'll give 1 star, though, because the kids were nice and the frame was still good quality, despite the careless mistake. Edit: ever think that I was so disappointed that I created accounts on services that I didn't even have just to warn people? Nope, but the rude manager is in your profile pic, you'd do well to get rid of her! And it was my son that paid for the frame. read more

I've had over 500 prints framed in the last 10 years. New to Reno, I sourced all the reviews I could find to limit the time I spent searching for a good farming shop. Based on my visit here, I was taken by several things that made me send my stuff to LA even considering the shipping costs. 1st they only had a few different mat options; I'm used to thousands of choices. 2nd they had an extremely limited selection of framing options; I was shown 9 samples and was warned they all might not be able to order some of them. Their pricing was so high, I could have framed 5 prints the same size in better materials in NYC where I'm from. Seriously, if I were thinking of getting 2 large pieces framed here, I'd reconsider and just buy a dry mount press, mat cutter and miter box. You'll save $1500 and be able to frame your friends stuff in the future. Even if you screw up a few mats you'll still save money. There's really very little skill involved. Or just drive to S.F. and drop them off. Overall, this visit was a shocking disappointment. read more

I had a very large print of my daughter's original painting made and wanted a high quality frame for it. The size was unusually large and no one was able to create a backing for framing until I finally tried Frame Shop. The team was amazing in helping me choose the right frame but more than that, owner Dan was innovative in how to prepare it for framing. I mistakenly had it printed too small to allow for a proper interior mount, so Dan came up with a solution. Once I had it home, after two months I noticed it bullying up on edges. I called Dan and he came straight away to pick it up. He wanted to make it right and went above and beyond. He had a much higher quality print made of the correct size so that it could be prepared properly for framing and returned it. The cost of printing and labor was not small but Dan never even negotiated with me, he took on all the extra costs to make it right. It was my error to begin with, but Dan didn't think to charge me as he should have. This kind of service is very rare today. A local business doing high quality work. Your bad if you do not get your art framed here. read more

I am pretty lazy and don't do a lot of reviews, but I'm making an effort because the Frame Shop is worth it. They nailed the job I came in with. I brought in two fox prints, and they did an incredible job with both. One print was damaged from glass during a fall, and there was no trace whatsoever of damage by the time they were finished. The matting colours and frames they selected (I let them guide the artistic direction) were so, so perfect. These pictures will be on my walls for years or decades to come. read more

I've done business with The Frame Shop at Lakeside a number of times and have always received such an incredible level of quality and craftsmanship. The Frame Shop did a beautiful job designing and framing an important work for me. They spent time with me looking at many options until I decided. The result was perfect and the price was reasonable. Even more impressive was the fact that I was unable to return to pick up the finished job for over a year and the folks at the shop were gracious in staying in touch and keeping it safe until I was able to pick it up. I had no idea how to pick a reputable frame shop for an important picture I had of my husband and brother hunting. I went to yelp and read reviews. I am so very happy I did and found "The Frame Shop at Lakeside. Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable staff. I went to the shop one week before Christmas, Dan the owner was very nice, even with the last minute request. He went over the top to have the picture scanned for me and picked the frame colors. All with a smile and so very nice, even at the last minute, before Christmas. I picked up the picture 2 days before Christmas, it turned out so wonderful, far better then I could imagine. I took it in in shambles, it came out pristine!! My husband was so touched and impressed. I have other art I plan on taking in. I was able to meet a couple other staff members, everyone was very, very nice and professional. I can't thank them enough! I highly recommend this Frame Shop. read more

Just moved from SF to Reno. While hanging pictures, I dropped a stretched oil painting in an antique frame, the painting came out of the frame. Took it to The Frame Shop. I don't generally review shops or items; however, I felt my experience was worthy of a negative review. I took a lino cut print to be framed. I knew what I wanted from the start a simple maple frame with no mat only a spacer. It took forever to get the print back and I took it home only to note a large gouged area in the print along with other dings to the paper. I called then took it back, told them who the artist was and where to contact her. I had already contacted the artist to hold a replacement, which she then kept me appraised. After over a week, I had to call the shop and ask why hadn't the print been ordered. Two days later the shop ordered the print. They quickly turned it around and when I went to the shop to pick up the new print, I spoke with one of the owners. She offered no apology, nothing to recognize the hassle it was for me. Damaging a print it pretty egregious, then framing it and passing it on as finished was even worse. I understand mistakes happen and working with the public can be a challenge, but customers need to be treated fairly and well enough. I was not, I will never recommend or use this shop again. read more

Very professional and consultative staff. I have had 4 items framed and the results were much higher than expected.

Dear Frame Shop, Your shop has done some very nice work for me in the past but you have truly outdone yourself in this effort. I brought in a bag of Reno memorabilia and did not feel anything worthwhile could be done with it. No one, especially me, would expect much from some casino tokens, ashtrays and matchbooks, but boy was I surprised. Lori, who is a in a class of her own, did an amazing job and turned a bag full of junk into a work of art. This was slated to hang in a back room but after your work it is now front and center in the main living area of our house. Everyone who has seen it is amazed and I have already had several offers to purchase this piece. Not for sale. If you have anything to frame have the Frame Shop at Lakeside do it, you will not be disappointed, I can guarantee it. They will turn something that is pedestrian into something that you will not only appreciate but will fall in love with. Should I ever be lucky enough to obtain a very expensive work of art I would allow no other shop anywhere to touch it. Thanks Again, Jim Gianola read more
