Absolutely terrible experience!! I paid $3,500 for them to prepare my nonprofit's taxes. Since hiring them over a year ago, my account has been handed off to more than 14 different people, and my taxes are still not complete. The constant turnover has resulted in poor communication, repeated requests for the same information, and a complete lack of accountability. They would often take weeks to respond, and every delay came with another excuse about missing documentation, even though I had already provided the requested documents multiple times. I repeatedly asked for a phone call, and it took nearly three weeks just to receive a response to that request. When I finally requested a refund, it was because my taxes had become late due to their failure to complete the work or even file an extension on my behalf. As a result, I am now facing thousands of dollars in penalties and back taxes. What makes this even more frustrating is that this is a nonprofit that I personally fund out of my own pocket to rescue and care for horses in need. Instead of receiving the professional service I paid for, I have been left dealing with financial consequences caused entirely by their delays and lack of follow-through. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, unprofessional, and financially damaging. I cannot recommend this company to anyone. read more

I am updating my review. Shannon Evans reached out on Behalf of Greg McRay - Who appears to be the President. She acknowledge that my experience is not thier standard. It appears they do have issues from recent merger. She assured me they would handle. I will update again as we go. I am happy to give them better marks if the follow through is actually real. I am thankful, they have validated my frustrations. read more

I contacted the Foundation Group with my nonprofit organzation needs. Filing the paperwork with the state and IRS. They helped me narrow down my vision and provided insight on how to file my annual fees with charitable of solicitations. They were quick with my paperwork and my IRS approval was just as quick. Thank you FG! read more

I became a customer before ByrteBridge and the Foouncation Group merged. From the very beginning, BB was incredible. I knew virtually nothing about starting a 501 (c) (3), and they helped me every step of the way. They are experts on all things 501c3, and they are extremely responsive. I know much of this was due to my organization working with Stephen Coon, our membership coordinator. In the initial phase of this merger, I was lost and didn't know how to get started. I emailed Stephen via BB support, and he was there instantly to help me. I give him 10 stars. We could never have accomplished what we have accomplished in this past year without Stephen. I am looking forward to the new company! read more

My nonprofit had a wonderful experience with Foundation Group. They were thorough, quick to respond and extremely helpful. I really don't know why there are negative reviews but I didn't experience any of that and am confident we would not have received our 501(c)(3) status without their guidance. read more

Especially if you are a small non-profit do not waste your money on this scam. We were able to get some of our money back by filing a complaint with our credit card company for breach of contract. They scheduled one kick off meeting and were unavailable to meet and did not respond to emails or phone calls from then on. Paying $150/month for no help is very hard on a small non profit like us. The fact that they require a one year contract with no promises of performance should have been a clear sign not to trust them but we really thought they would help us get our non profit set up with the State of California. They say all the right things on the phone but we could not get any real support from them. I am sure we will be able to complete this task of getting set up with California without help but this company set us back with months of empty promises and wasted our time and money. read more

Do NOT hire this company. I was referred to them to help me get my 501c3 status back. They were VERY slow and insisted that I use an archaic portal as their only communication tool. It seemed like all I did was send them emails that said "can someone please update me on my case" only to never hear back from them. Recently I sent them another email & they responded by saying that my account was put on an "inactive HOLD" because I had not completed something within their time frame that I didn't even know needed to be completed. So they took $2500 from my not for profit and I got nothing in return! read more

Wanted to contract The Foundation Group for bookkeeping services for our professional non-profit organization. Initial communications were great, so we decided to move forward to the discovery phase. Had what I thought was a very friendly and informative discussion with one of the senior bookkeepers, and so I decided to move forward with a contract. When I received the contract, it was just slightly different than what I recalled our agreement was. I pointed that out in an email, and after I made a minor mistake in detailing what I had reconciled (though this wouldn't have made a difference, because I was reconciling everything up to when they would start), I was informed that they decided not to work with me, and said that I insinuated that their bookkeeper was lying (which was certainly not my intent, I figured it was a really minor difference in what was remembered from the discovery call). I tried to understand where things went off the rails, but got nowhere. Tried to email the founder of the group, but he ignored both emails I sent. So I would be very wary with engaging with this group. We are out $300 for the discovery call, plus I am out several hours of my time. I really have never had such an unsatisfactory dealing with a company like this before. read more

We have sent several emails with no response. Apparently our point of contact is no longer with the company. No one notified us of the change. When we called to speak to someone we were hung up on. This company has poor customer service and lacks professionalism. The ways in which they have illustrated this are as mentioned being hung up on by a receptionist who failed to listen and fully answer asked questions, being told that one of the attorney's (Ren) refused to speak with us, and being over talked throughout the conversation with the receptionist. The biggest concern is monthly, a surcharge of $350 is debited from our account. However, they find it appropriate to not communicate major changes via email, phone, etc. and do not have the decency to address our concerns or answer our questions emailed over 3 weeks ago. Simply unacceptable! read more

Not satisfied with service. Difficult to get in touch with administration--management refused to discuss policies and decisions and only reached out after our leaving a review. Emphasis is on administrative process rather than on service fulfillment with a contractual right for complete withdrawal of services without customer refund or recourse. Lack of transparency with contracts and completed work. Does not have a "customer first" mentality in resolving disputes. read more

The Foundation Group helped us form our nonprofit back in 2018. At the time, we were beyond pleased with their service. Last year and this year they seem to have changed in the way they communicate, assist and follow through. We keep attempting to get help to further our nonprofit but no return phone calls or email. Very disappointing. read more

Super knowledgeable staff and responsive to all my questions involved in setting up a 501c3. They have a system to navigate the process logically and I found them engaged and easy to work with. When I needed legal advice on programmatic boundaries, their lawyers were super responsive. The state filing and IRS filing went smoothly. I found them to be top level professionals and they were critical in getting my nonprofit going. Fee was high but worth it. read more

We had Foundation Group help us set up our non-profit and at first they were great and responded well, but now we're three years in and for 2020 they filied our 990N late and didn't even let me know when their form was available to fill out. For 2021 they didn't even ask me the information needed to file and I recieved no response after I called and emailed them multiple times. They didn't even know we had to file a CT-12 and we didn't know it hadn't been sent until we recieved a letter from the state saying we were overdue and extra fees will be required. I ended up filing the CT-12 on my own after we paid the Foundation Group filing fees. Recommend them for setting up, but after that find a local accountant that will help you file any forms required. read more

Very thorough and professional. They know what they are doing, and help their customers navigate every aspect of charitable foundation and organization. read more

The Foundation Group has been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in getting my non-profit set up. They are up front about timelines, answer all of my questions very quickly, and have been overall fantastic. The nonprofit I'm working on is relatively complex (animal rescue in CA), so while you might be able to do it yourself in some cases, this is not one where I want to do the legwork- I want someone else responsible for the legal part. read more

I had them set up an operating foundation for me. These people seem knowledgeable but it takes them forever to get things done. If you are in a hurry to get your IRS approval, state approval for charitable solicitations and state sales tax exemptions I suggest you hire another firm. Or you can do some of this yourself. In a couple of cases I waited months for them to get state approvals that I later found that I could do in a day or so. read more
