I used to really hate going to BGC. For someone who doesn't drive and does not own a car (and does not have plans to ever be a motorist), it's an expensive, hassling journey that requires a taxi from point A outside the city, to point B. Thus, BGC trips for me used to be for special, worth the trouble occasions (Note: Which are not very often indeed).
That was until I discovered the new and improved BGC bus system, which really is how all Metro Manila buses must be...because the last time I checked it was already 2015 and it's about time local transport in this country has evolved into... Something! Anything!
BGC's bus system launched better, spacious, and more ergonomically-designed buses, along with a convenient tap card system and an overall experience devoid of all inconvenient, third-world bus system trappings such as 'mamang konduktor', paper riso-printed tickets, a TV playing a foreign film from a pirated DVD and 'basag' speakers, and random cellphone numbers written in marker on the back of the seat in front of you. It actually feels a whole lot safer, too!
What I like about their bus routes is that each stop isn't very far from popular destinations, which can be very convenient if you're headed to such places. If you know your stops well, you won't have to walk too far. read more
