With the convenience of buses that offer hassle-free northern routes, there really is very little excuse to get out of Manila, head up north, and see the sights, explore some nature, rediscover our lost heritage, and so on.
I've ridden Partas buses to northern places such as La Union and Vigan, and I've never been disappointed with any of the trips I've taken with them.
Their buses are in GREAT shape, better than most buses that head the same route. They're clean, well-maintained, and the air-conditioning is fully-functioning (though, bring a jacket as it gets pretty cold, especially if you're travelling at night).
Most importantly, they are punctual. On my way to La Union, there were only 3 or 5 of us in the bus to the north. They leave according to schedule and they do not wait around for another 45 minutes or so to get more passengers. They leave when they're supposed to. Another good thing is that if in the event a bus breaks down, there's always one on its way to rescue you guys shortly, as Partas pretty much 'owns' the North.
So yes, for those who own a car, I really suggest taking the bus instead. It's convenient, way more affordable, and it's really not as bad as you think it will be. As for car-less me, the bus is an amazing transport option I will take with no hesitations. read more
