My friend Lara is from Las Pinas originally but mid-college she and her brother had to find a place nearer UPD, so their family got a unit at Regalia.
This move of hers would prove to be one of the greatest points in my life and those of my friends as her apartment became our general tamabayan, shooting location, editing suite, and party venue for most of our college and post-college lives. It was a quick thirty minutes or less from UPD, a walkable distance from our local haunt, Cubao X, and just a general convenience just beside EDSA and P. Tuazon.
Even with pretty tight society (part of it was a hotel before) and a dearth of parking options, we've had the most intimate nights, greatest lazy afternoons, and biggest parties in their little unit, probably having close to thirty people there in the one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. I've swum in their year-round frigid swimming pool, snuck into their rooftop while it was still under construction, shot and edited school projects there, climbed the twenty so floors to their place when the elevators weren't available, and had the best times of my life there.
We've since grown older, had less time and reason to party, and even Lara had to move out at some point to work in Manila, so for a while our lives were Regalia-less. Now she's come back, but now it's a little worse for wear with the construction of another tower and a neighboring condominium. They've lost their roundabout driveway and when you come in you feel like you going into work at a factory. But hopefully this all changes for the better soon. read more
