The loveliest pub in the main square of Fishguard. If you love a pub that is good vibes and relaxed then this spot is for you. Happily stumbled upon this bar when a local waved us in. Lots of lovely characters and locals. That's all I needed to be sold to have a drink here.
This pub is small and cozy in all of the best ways. I loved sitting at the bar near the front. Only was a three seater so when I say it's small, it is. But there were still plenty of tables and smaller seats throughout the front and back of the bar. It also appeared they had a small back outside drinking area. I didn't check it out but could hear the laughs and banter outside after some guys bought their drinks and then disappeared. That's where they went.
There are two bathrooms outside in the back for ladies and gentlemen, liked that the bathrooms were separate and clean.
This bar has a solid selection of ciders and beers. Also for a small bar there was a good variety of whiskeys and such. For a local pub in this part of Wales it gets the job done. It's definitely a spot for the locals and we were applauded for wandering in as most tourists don't. It was welcoming enough but it seems like the tourists stop at the bars closer into town with more signage and advertising. I am different, I always look for the hole in the walls.
Manager/bartender was friendly and on top of things. Stayed for hours chatting with the locals and had the best time. This place feels like a blast from the past with older music and tunes. None of the millennial hits that's for sure but I loved it for that. They cater to their regulars and the vibes were wonderful. Definitely will keep this bookmarked in the back of my mind for the next time I'm in Fishguard, a truly lovely pub through and through. read more
