Mom, Step-dad and I made this a regular place. Now, it's just mom and I and we still get the same order every time. The cod or the halibut are great, but we stick to the halibut. The fries are perfect, but I gravitate towards the onion rings, because nobody makes them better! My biggest complaint... they DO NOT KNOW HOW TO make tartar sauce... because of this, I do not need to go their as often, unfortunately. They have nothing in it... I need tartar sauce for my fish... and I may have to make my own and bring it. It's simple... but, for some reason they've stopped adding relish. It's so easy to make, I didn't think it could be screwed up... but, they have royally messed up. I'll still eat the fish. Just a bit disappointed that it'll have to be eaten dry. Wow! What an epic meal of some proper fish and chips!! These guys are doing an awesome job for a super reasonable price. I'm really confused by the low star rating here in Yelp. The fish was fresh, cooked perfectly, awesome portion size and nice crisp batter. The fries are great. No complaints there. The tartar sauce is homemade and pretty tasty. And the coleslaw was great too! Just wish there was a bit more of it. We also got an order of the calamari with tzatziki sauce and both were delicious. The calamari was perfectly cooked, no rubbery squid. A+ guys! They are doing a good job keeping things clean between customers and they bring your food out to you after you've ordered so people aren't waiting inside. Nice touch! Everyone inside is wearing PPE and they have nice signage to know where to go/stand etc. The restaurant seating is currently closed due to COVID but we were planning on doing take out anyway. We took our meal down to the marina and sat watching the boats. Definitely recommend doing that! Only feedback for the owners: get a website!!! The food was okay, fish could have been cooked a bit more. Portion sizes were fine. The waiting staff on the other hand, needs proper training. My waitress walked away as I was ordering so I was not able to finish ordering until she came back with the meal itself. by then I didn't bother. But what I saw will stop me from ever going there again. I witnessed TWO waitresses put ice in someone glass and place the scoop on top of the ice again. So whatever was on their hands transferred to the ice and us customers drank it in our drinks. Not only is that just gross, it a health board violation. And if that's what they are doing in front of us, what are they doing in the kitchen that we can't witness. Never again will I eat there. read more

My husband has been bugging me to go here for ages so when we were in town today, I finally agreed. It's a simple little spot, relatively busy at lunch with an older crowd. We ordered a cod plate with fries, tartar sauce and coleslaw, plus battered mushrooms to start. The mushrooms were alright, a little soggy maybe but still good. I love fried mushrooms and will always order them - of the many many I've eaten, these were maybe a 3.5 out of 5. The fish came quickly and I have to say, I got the cod because it's generally the highest quality fish around here, but... I'm not 100% sure that it was cod. It was a little low-profile for cod, with some gray parts I've never had on cod fillets before. Who can say, though, maybe I'm wrong. In any case, the fish was decent. Not too greasy, good size. The fries were fine too, as was the coleslaw. I will say that a chunkier, fresher tartar sauce would really have improved the plate overall. read more

So I don't write many reviews but this place was so good and seeing only one bad review I felt I must. My wife and I had just finished puting our boat away for the season at nearby Crates Marina and were quite hungry. We decided to try The Fish and Chips. This was on a Sunday around 4:45 so only a couple tables were occupied. We sat down to a very clean and comfortable spot by the window. Our server was prompt and polite, I ordered the two halibut platter which came with two good size pieces of halibut, 3 large shrimp, 2 scallops and a generous amount of perfectly done fries and a scoop of nice freshly made coleslaw. Everything was cooked perfectly, each table was supplied with a tray of condiments all were recently filled and clean. My wife ordered the single piece platter and found her food just as good as I found mine. The double piece was really enough for two people and I overheard a couple at an adjacent table deciding to order this way asking for an extra plate to share. They must have been repeat customers. It started to get busy soon after 5pm so we were glad to be a little early. At a glance the $23 for the two piece platter seems a tad expensive but when considering the portions are really enough for 2 it's a great value. They certainly have hit the mark with an older demographic, to me this indicates good food and good value, which is what you get at The Fish and Chips. As for people touching your ice or the scoop touching the ice or whatever - get over it. If you don't want people touching your food be sure stay out of the Michelin star rated restaurants of Europe. read more
