But their huge downfall are the fried oysters, fish quality and portion sizes. The oysters were 6 for $11 and so small, about the size of large tater tots. They were not good at all (fishy). The fish was not tender at all and possibly over cooked. The table next to us didn't even finish half of theirs and left. The fries were sorta chewy and dry/mealy inside. Overall, the portions are paltry for the prices. Table next to us said the same thing and that they're known for that. For example, the $4.50 plate of onion rings had 5 on the plate. A dollar an onion ring? Yikes. Staff is slow but nice. Cook is a nice guy but didn't wear gloves while preparing food. I personally wouldn't return for anything but chowder and onion rings.

The fries were fresh cut and crispy. The server was very friendly and also brought a bowl of water for my chorkie. The service here is top notch and I would recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. We just missed out on their brunch menu which also had some tasty options. If you like small town hospitality along with quality food then mark this place on your bucket list. So we went together last Friday. What a pleasant surprise! The wings were fantastic. Keep in mind that these are boneless wings, so all meat! And they're the "good kind" of boneless chicken that's real meat rather than the reconstituted "nuggets" that many places serve. Cooked perfectly and the breading on them was enough to be tasty and to hold the sauce but not so much that you cant find the meat. What else was notable about the food experience? The fries!! They were notably superior. Lots of fries on the order, a good size, and not over-cooked. They also have a decent selection of beers on tap and the pint I ordered was only $7.49, which is pretty good for the area. The service was also top-notch. We were seated right away our server Todd was at the table within the first minute. He was pleasant and sociable and it was very obvious that he wanted our experience to be a good one. He took our orders, answered our dumb questions with a smile, and was quick with service. All throughout the meal he kept checking on us and was quick with the "next beer" and in keeping the table cleared. What a great difference to feel like you're truly welcome and your experience matters, unlike other places where I often feel like I'm more like an inconvenience to waiting staff. Lady food got a fish taco, which were bomb, lady food did not eat the whole thing as she hates food consumption but was pleasantly surprised. Birthdays, meetings, etc. Before, the menu boasted variety and class in Belleville that could not top other restaurants. Yet in dining here again in June, 2024, I am sad to say that they have eradicated a good majority of their menu for "basic" and mundane pallets. My spouse and I used to go for their vegan options which surpassed most other places we've tried, yet were surprised to find that the stroganoff we often eat was no longer there. Half the vegan menu was erased. Instead replaced by the simplest and cheapest of curries and another dish. Two options. Two, compared to the four-five that were given before. Also very curious to claim it as a vegan dish when the kitchen nor the new owners have read the packaging on the pita bread that accompanied it. (It was not Vegan so if vegans are eating here, please beware!!) The portions were also a bit small for the extravagant prices. It was one of our favourites and I hope to see return to what it was prior to the ownership change, but it is clear that the new owners are less inclined to think about quality and more inclined to think about the profit it generates. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
