We sat on the patio to enjoy the view and of course you don't have that chance all year long. The tables inside were almost full and it was loud; everyone was enjoying a nice meal and the company. The staff are nice and friendly. We ordered "Shrimp Taco", "Seafood Linguini with Alfredo Sauce", "Battered Haddock", "Salmon New Orleans" and "Sautéed Shrimp". So what turned into a snack before dinner became a full on dinner with not just oysters but Fish N Chips, Shrimp cocktail and lobster baos and I don't regret it one bit. The Fish N Chips was amazing with the most light and crunchy battered fish, not too battered and fresh. The fries were probably my favourite being fresh cut, hot, crispy but fluffy on the inside. We loved the coleslaw so much, we ordered another side order of that as well. I personally don't like oysters but my friends destroyed them and had to control themselves from getting more. The shrimp cocktail and lobster baos were also very fresh and different but weren't the star in my books. Birthdays, meetings, etc. Before, the menu boasted variety and class in Belleville that could not top other restaurants. Yet in dining here again in June, 2024, I am sad to say that they have eradicated a good majority of their menu for "basic" and mundane pallets. My spouse and I used to go for their vegan options which surpassed most other places we've tried, yet were surprised to find that the stroganoff we often eat was no longer there. Half the vegan menu was erased. Instead replaced by the simplest and cheapest of curries and another dish. Two options. Two, compared to the four-five that were given before. Also very curious to claim it as a vegan dish when the kitchen nor the new owners have read the packaging on the pita bread that accompanied it. (It was not Vegan so if vegans are eating here, please beware!!) The portions were also a bit small for the extravagant prices. It was one of our favourites and I hope to see return to what it was prior to the ownership change, but it is clear that the new owners are less inclined to think about quality and more inclined to think about the profit it generates. It was balmy for Kingston in early June with temps in the 70's F around 8 PM; their average high temp in early June is only upper 60's F (around 20 C). Our server was friendly. She said people are enjoying the first really warm evening of the season. We both got their fish n' chips. It's an Alaskan Pacific haddock as opposed to cod or others used. This is superior to other fish n' chips I've had. This is delicious. Fries were good too, but the fish was the real star and about the best fried fish I've had.
