Seafood linguine made with fresh cream and white wine
    Leticia S.

Oh Hello Deliciousness!!! If you haven't made any dinner plans tonight or for the weekend, or just don't feel like cooking, I HIGHLY suggest you give Paul Dinkel and his team a call! We took home a little bit of LUXURY to remind us of normalcy and better days. He had just returned from Toronto for his FRESH handpicked food order. Pandemic or no pandemic, Paul is still getting the best quality ingredients for his customers. The Paulo's & Dinkel's Restaurant Teams NEVER fail our expectations or TASTEBUDS! Chef Matt and our server, the lovely Joanne, were so amazing! We ordered: Caramelized Ginger Tiger Shrimp Bococcini & Tomato Salad Wood-fired Paulo's Focaccia Seafood Linguine (35% cream sauce, mussels, scallops, shrimp) Linguine Roberto (pesto 35% cream sauce, herbed chicken, SD tomatoes) - I've been ordering this fave dish for almost 3 decades! Cappuccino Chocolate Meringue (Daquoise) Cherry Cheesecake THE PASTAS and apps were perfectly executed (al denté and the perfect balance in texture and flavour with fresh ingredients and a generous amount of herbed chicken in the Linguine Roberto and fresh seafood in the Seafood in the Seafood Linguine). The ginger brandy caramelized tiger shrimps were to die for and the bococcini and Roma tomatoe salad with capers, olives! Lettuce and onion drizzled with Paulo's Balsamic vinaigrette dressing....amazing! We love that the presentation made it during the car ride back to my parent's. See that huge dollop of whipped cream on the side of the dessert? Yes, only the FRESHEST CREAM WHIPPED a la minute! Where are you going to get a delicious complimentary wood-fired oven focaccia included with your dinner? Paulos Dinkels...that's where! Thanks Paul and Team! My dad's birthday dinner was a hit!

Can you mess up wood fired pizza?? Yep. I should've known when the apps show up in less than 5 minutes. Not a good place.

Authentic continental Triattoria with a great atmosphere. The pizzas are wonderful and a great wine selection.

Nice little spot to enjoy a night out. I almost always order Linguine Roberto -it's rich and very flavourful.

When my wife and I were going to be making a random stop in Belleville for a couple nights, I did…read moremy thing and looked up what to do and eat while in town. I'm from an even smaller town, so I'm used to short lists for those things, but I was glad when I randomly came across The Lark. It wasn't on one of the review sites or a travel blog, but just simply perusing the downtown landscape on Google Maps. Their space on Bridge Street is airy and spacious, but the small footprint keeps things intimate, with a stunning bar that beckons to slake your thirst. Although the restaurant's name isn't on-the-nose Italian, the menu is very much so. With a handful each of primi, secondi and dolci, chances are that you won't suffer from choice paralysis while ordering, but what they have is nonetheless quite enticing. Burrata is always an easy choice, especially at a restaurant like The Lark where you know you're going to get good quality cheese and accoutrements. They didn't disappoint! The milky, semi-solid cheese paired well with tender hunks of sweet butternut squash and the crisp savouriness of fried sage. Pomegranate seeds and hazelnuts brought some sweetness and crunch, while house-made sourdough was good enough to be eaten on its own. For my main, I went with the beef cheek pappardelle. The succulent shreds of cheek took the place of ground beef in the rich Bolognese, and my taste buds were all the better for it. The fresh pappardelle was luxuriously tender, with its delicate folds sopping up all that delicious sauce. Rounded out with parm and basil, it shows that you don't have to recreate the wheel to make an excellent dish. My wife's brown butter gnocchi was no slouch either, with a decadent cream sauce, and nice hint of char to the lovely and light pasta pillows. Not to be beaten, the apple cobbler was absolutely amazing. Definitely sized for two, but no judgment if you solo it, every part was fall dessert perfection. Service was wonderfully knowledgeable on the food and drink side, as well as friendly and easygoing. I was getting strong owner-vibes, but I'm too lazy to do the amount of Googling required for a confirm. The Lark is getting done dirty by the algorithm on the major review sites and if they won't loudly announce their possession of the title as "best restaurant in Belleville", I sure will.

I've gone back again since my first time visiting to try a few more things. The Beef Cheek Pappardelle was my overall favourite, but the Beef short rib was a close second. It's a cute little spot in downtown Belleville with a nice ambience. There's lots of street parking available nearby or there's a big lot that's very walkable. Service was great, we even got the bartenders choice for the drinks and it was really well done. If you're ever in the Belleville area and are looking for a spot to have dinner, this is definitely the place.

Friday March 17th at 9pm we decided to stop for a St. Patrick's Day drink. Export wasn't far away…read moreso we stopped in...bad idea. We have been going here for years but new ownership has jacked up the prices and reducing size and quality of the food. A draft of domestic is now $8.95 which is outrageous for draft. Three tiny slices of a breadstick for their Bruschetta is $13.00 which is also outrageous. The beer was a bit pricey but we wanted a couple so we could deal with that. But the Bruschetta was a joke - three tiny slices from a breadstick, not a baguette or loaf, were so small they were very small two bite size. The bread was grilled but had virtually no garlic flavour and no oil drizzled over top. Since the pieces were so tiny there was no room to put much tomato, onions, and feta on top. Very disappointed for what is a very simple appetizer. We'll never order that again...and if the prices keep going up while shrinking size and quality, they'll lose repeat business. My wife left her phone in the car so we didn't get a pic of the Bruschetta, but it was the tiniest serving we've ever come across and we dine out a lot. If the price was $5-7 it would be ok, but at double we would be embarrassed to serve it. We ate at Castle John's earlier that day for lunch and had 4 drafts and 2 large and fulfilling meals for the same price. Much better food sizes and quality. The service was good thanks to our waitress Stephanie who was very friendly, polite, and quick to take care of us. If we go back, she'll be the reason.

This was honestly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We were a group of 10, arriving…read moreearly for dinner before the theatre. In summary: 4 of the 10 waited over 3 hours with nothing but water or one drink, finally taking their food to go; 5 others received their side dishes about an hour before their main dishes; one received the wrong food twice. There were numerous problems with supply, food quality, atmosphere and service. WE MISSED THE PLAY COMPLETELY. Specific details: The room was an upstairs back "private room" with a table of 10 and a table of 8. The room was so noisy we could barely hear to talk, and we were forgotten for very long periods of the evening. The restaurant had been advised at the time of the reservation of our deadline to attend a 7:30 play, and we all arrived between 5 and 5:30. There were not enough menus to go around, but turns out we had plenty of time to share. Our drink orders were taken around 6:00, and our food orders at 6:30. Food started to arrive after 7:00 and wasn't fully delivered until around 8:45! The order of food served was all over the place (for example, ordering fries and calamari and receiving the two dishes separately an hour apart). Many of us ordered sweet potato fries, which arrived cold and were then told they were out of chipotle mayo (although some mysteriously arrived 1/2 hour later); glasses of wine were ordered but they ran out of it by 6:30. There are two salmon dishes on the menu, and my order was mixed up with the wrong one. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries, but was given peas and garlic bread. I sent the dish back and was told it would only be a few minutes to grill up the salmon I had ordered. An hour later, it finally arrived, overcooked and salty, with none of the ingredients listed on the menu description (chimichurri sauce, avocado, pickled onions). Peas and a mountain of mashed potatoes were provided instead, with no explanation. The poor service was blamed on one person calling in sick. That person must surely be a superhero if they were expected to have corrected all these issues. The manager did finally comp all the food, but not the drinks, nor our unused theatre tickets!
