Spent a nice day exploring Kingston. Had a craving for something hardy…read more We came across Hardy's on their high street (Princess St). Menu looked interesting so we parked our butts here. Inside had a relaxed welcoming Egg dinner vibe. We had the classic and umami burgers with the nut salad replacing the standard fries. Patties were a generous 6 oz. Burger was very flavourful. The umami was stuffed with lots of different ingredients. (Too many for me to remember off hand). Both were delicious. The health nut salad was delicious too. Nice change over from the usual deep fried sides. Our server (Chloe) and service were both excellent and attentive. We left very full and satisfied.

We stumbled upon Harpers Saturday night with the kids. The hubby ate here before and said they make…read moresolid burgers. We were seated promptly. Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

Thank you for serving a fresh hotdog bun…read more Personally I'd steam it just a bit more - if you did steam it at all. Steaming the bun really helps the dog experience. Texas hot - Hoffman dog with finely chopped chili always a great combo - onions, a little mustard & ketchup Great fried clams - order lemon & tartar

Online reviews are all over the map, so we wanted to see for ourselves. We visited recently with our 7- and 8-year-old nephews, hoping to soak up the tradition. The reality was more transactional. The hostess took our order while sipping her own beverage likely why we were shorted an order of fries. Nice enough, but not especially professional or welcoming. The whole operation moves fast; the staff is determined and task-focused rather than friendly. You get a buzzer and wait. The interior was renovated in 2025, and it shows but not in a good way. The bright white walls and green banquettes feel sterile, more fast-casual chain than 80-year-old lakeside institution. In modernizing, they stripped out whatever nostalgia the old space had and put nothing back. Some local artwork, vintage photos, or lake history on those fresh white walls would go a long way. The food: the boys enjoyed their cheeseburgers, and the fries are genuinely good. The fish sandwich was generously sized but bland the batter had little flavor, and the tartar sauce didn't rescue it. For a place with an 80-year reputation built on fish, I expected more. The lobster mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The tab: four drinks, two cheeseburgers with fries, lobster mac, and a fish sandwich with fries came to nearly $70 steep for a lakeside stand where fries alone run $5.25. The setting is lovely and the legacy is real. But sometimes generational ownership slips down a slick slope and making money starts to matter more than making memories.
