There are so many fish & chips restaurant around the area, we spoted this place on our way to the LCBO. It was amazing!! There fish was really fresh, their extra light batter was fantastic, golden fired crispy on the outside but still can keep the moisture on the fish. Bravo!!!! High recommended

Chill restaurant to have lunch in Tobermory. The fish & chips were quite standard, nothing special. The fish was not tender enough. But they were all crispy. No recommended if you are really hungry since it might take long time to have the dishes.

Fish and chips are pretty common in Tobermory...so I think my expectations were a bit high. First off - most restaurants close around 9pm (there are a few open to 11pm - those are the pubs). This restaurant closes at 9pm so make sure if you want to go to dinner - try to go a bit earlier. There is outside seating as well as a few tables inside. So when in Tobermory, do as the Tobermorians do and order fish and chips! 2 pieces of fish and some fries are a decent portion for one person. Unfortunately I found it underwhelming and under seasoned. Some salt and some lemon would have done absolute wonders. It wasn't that crispy battered fish I was hoping for and the fries were mehhhh. If they were fried a bit more with some salt, it would have been a great improvement The server was really friendly - but it only looked like there was one person! I know Tobermory is a small town (I think population of less than 4000) and in talking with the server she said it's hard to find people to work in the area, which is why lots of places close early! Overall I was disappointed with the taste.

Summary: good service, expensive fish and chip that in my opinion does not taste good. A tourist spot. Recommend: not recommend here. Even you just been to Tobermory and want to try its famous fish and chip, do not try it here. Price: at least $15/person Service: 4/5, very helpful and friendly staff Food: 2/5 Recommend dish: calamari Not recommend dish: fish and chip I know Tobermory is famous for its fish and chip, however, in my opinion, it does not taste good. To me McDonald's fillet-o-fish burger probably taste better. I don't think this place processed the fish properly. The fish still has its skin on. So it tasted very fishy and smelly. Some people might like it. I ordered calamari, which I think it is a better dish. I think the fish and chip and St. Lawrence market is cheaper, tastes better and bigger portion. This place has so many tourists. I guess it is just a tourist spot.

We told by a friend that if I visit tobermory, I must try the fish and chips because they are really good. I visited this restaurant with pretty high expectations but I was extremely disappointed. We ordered the fish taco and the fish and chips. They both weren't good. The fish taco had too much sauce which overpowered the fish. The fish inside the taco had bones. Same goes for the fish and chips. The fish and chips were not crispy. They didn't have that nice crispy battered crust. It seemed like it was literally little battered fried fish. The flavour was bland and there was also bones in it. The fries tasted stale and soggy. The only good thing was, they were pet friendly and dogs were allowed on the patios. They had dog water bowls too but the water bowls did not contain fresh water. The bowl were dirty and had crumbs inside. Overall, the food was not fresh and hot. Would not recommend it.

Best fish tacos I have enjoyed in Canada. Fun service and nice sides.

It was cold autumn month when we were here but they offered a dining area outside with heater. On the menu, they offered one piece fish and chips combo, or fish and shrimp combo, or chicken and back ribs at less than $25. They also offered all you can eat fish and chips at $28.99. We were pretty hungry so a few of us went with all you can eat fish and chips. The fries were mediocre but the fish was awesome. Each one piece of fish here was cut into two half pieces when they fried it. The fish was perfectly cooked and flavoured with very crispy breading with perfect thickness. The white fish tasted so fresh and soft. The owner was so nice to renew our fish a couple of times until we were full. Very satisfied with our dining experience here and strongly recommend their fish and chips.

The fish was very fresh and juicy, wrapped in a thin, crispy batter, the best fried fish I've had so far, though my limit was one fish, and I'd feel greasy after that. The fries were on the thin side; it'd be even better if they were made in authentic British style. Fried calamari was delicious. Also wanted to try their shrimp, but too bad it only came in a combo while we didn't need more fries. Their homemade IPA tasted good but was pricey - 4 cans for $35. Service was good, meeting standard expectations. Overall, it's a solid spot for fresh seafood in Tobermory. The fish was fresh, the breading was tasty and the homemade tartar sauce was awesome. The chips were amazing as well. If this was down the road from my home, I'm sure I'd be there every week. Just a note, it is not hard miss. If headed towards Tobermory, it will be on your right shortly before you get to any of the entrances to Bruce Peninsula National Park. If headed from town, you will pass both the Cypress Lake entrances and the one just south of there (don't remember the name). It took 30 minutes for them to call our number. Granted, they were pretty busy... But 30 minutes for 2 orders of fries is a little crazy. My fries were good (although not 30 minutes good) but could have been a little warmer. The person I was with said their poutine was good. I don't eat meat so this review is based solely on the fries and service. I'd still recommend checking it out for yourself! OH and the address here on Yelp didn't take us to the chip wagon. We had to continue driving until we saw it on the left hand side (leaving tobermory) which was about 7km.

Our server, however, was extremely friendly and the reggae music playing overhead was enjoyable and not obtrusive. The food and check did take a while to come out although the restaurant was admittedly full when we came. Prices: You're looking at about $9 pints and $21-25 entrees, it's not cheap but it's also about par for the course in the area. Food: We got the lamb burger and messy fish sandwich which were both very good. The lamb burger had a decent sized patty and wasn't gamey at all. It had a good amount of tatziki and pickle onions to balance out the flavors. They do also have great burger buns that was pillowy while still having a robust golden crust that doesn't get soggy 4.5/5 The fish sandwich had a breadcrumb breading that was very crispy and served with some fresh shredded greens to lighten up an otherwise heavier sandwich. I would recommend asking for a side of tartar sauce though to give it a little more acid/tang. 4/5 We got Cajun fries and poutine fries as our sides and they are the soggier once-fried kind although they had spot-on flavors which made them still enjoyable. 4/5 We would also strongly recommend trying the blonde and amber ales which were excellent summer beers with a light body and subtle complexity. 4/5 Overall, I would say this place is a solid choice. The food has great flavor, good quality, and the atmosphere is enjoyable. The prices are expectedly high for a tourist area but not so bad that we wouldn't come back again.

I've been a long-time visitor to Tobermory and a frequent guest at the Tobermory Brewing Company…read moreover the years. I've always enjoyed the patio -- beautiful views, great food, excellent beer. But this week's experience was so frustrating and absurd that I feel compelled to leave this review. On a cold, stormy evening, my brother, a friend, and I decided to eat inside the restaurant for the first time. We were told there was a 30-minute wait for an indoor table, which was understandable. Since the patio was mostly empty (I counted 21 available seats just on the front porch), we asked the host if we could grab a few drinks outside while we waited. Here's where things went downhill -- fast. We were told we couldn't sit outside to have drinks while waiting for our indoor table -- because, according to the host, if we sat outside, we'd have to commit to eating there. Even though it was stormy. Even though only a few patio tables were taken. Even though we were just trying to spend money at the bar while we waited. When we asked what he expected us to do during the wait, he suggested we sit in our car. Sit. In. Our. Car. Instead of ordering drinks and giving the business our money. Still baffled, we walked over to the indoor bar and tried to order a flight of beer. There was only one stool free, so we stood at the bar and asked the bartender if we could order. He said yes -- then ignored us for 5-10 minutes while cleaning glasses. When we politely followed up, he suddenly changed course and said he couldn't serve us unless we were seated. We were being denied service both standing inside and sitting outside. Truly the epitome of lose-lose. At that point, my friend took the only available stool at the bar and asked, "Now can I be served?" That's when the manager finally stepped in -- not to apologize, not to offer a solution, but to tell us my friend was "making a scene." She said she didn't want a disturbance in front of other guests (who were already watching this ridiculous display) and would now allow us to sit outside with our beers while we waited. So after all that -- the refusal to let us sit on the empty patio, the rejection of service at the bar while standing, and being told to wait in our car -- we ended up exactly where we started: outside with a beer. Except now, the experience was soured beyond repair. This place is clearly being run by young, inexperienced staff following rigid, illogical policies with no common sense or customer care. I've supported this business many times over the years, but after this debacle, it's hard to justify going back. Hospitality should be about making people feel welcome -- not chasing them off with red tape and eye rolls. Do better.
