Not your ordinary UP Diliman food kiosk. While the clusters of little stalls scattered around the campus generally offer ultra cheap budget meals like instant pancit, hotdog sandwiches, fishballs, and the like, The Fat Hen ups both their prices and food quality. For P80, you can have real(wow!!!) pasta noodles with actual sauces(amazing!!) in your choice of pesto, creamy tomato, or truffle mushroom. On campus, that's like finding a unicorn. And by adding P30, you can get fried chicken pops to complement your pasta.
If you're not in the mood for pasta, you can just get the chicken pops in whatever flavor is in store. There are about 4 on the menu, but sometimes only 2 or 3 are available. Be warned, when they say spicy, they really mean it. My mouth was on fire after trying the spicy chicken, and I have a high tolerance for spice.
There's also an assortment of shakes and iced teas to help you cool down. Something we always need in the Philippines! I particularly like the strawberry shake.
Everything being cooked to order is both a good and bad thing: you get piping hot food, which makes it taste extra good, but seats are limited around their stall and unless you get there before the lunch rush, expect to wait a bit. read more
