It's just that my idea of a food village was a thriving market place with stalls overflowing with native delicacies. The place was not busy when we got there. Some crews were setting up for a concert. But even with that kind of free event, the place just wasn't buzzing, and that was a Friday. Maybe it has something to do with the time we went there (pre-dinner) and that some of the stalls were closed. The stalls that were open were pretty impressive. Most of them sold locally grown products and native delicacies that you wouldn't see in supermarkets. I liked the store that sold durian ice cream and organic fruit juices. I wanted to try the restaurants there, but we just ate before going to Tiendesitas, so we bought some Pinoy snacks instead (cornick, banana chips, chicharon, etc.). I wasn't really satisfied with my trip here. But that only means one thing: I should go back and stay longer next time. I hope there will be more stores and people then.

We were looking for a place to grab dinner and he was seriously craving Filipino food after a month in Singapore eating chicken rice. PROS: We find the interiors really cute with all those colorful paper lanterns and vintas on the ceiling; The place is a wide open space with a lot of seats and industrial fans and mist machines. So it's not much of a big deal that there's no air conditioning. Or maybe it's because we went there during night time and it's less hot; The food establishments are a monolith of Pinoy food and grilled choices to accompany your beer; There was a band playing that night, and they would let the audiences volunteer if they want to perform. CONS: I know it's the Pinoy trademark that we offer good customer service, but don't you just hate it when vendors and staff get all over your face to hawk and peddle their restaurant to you? It just makes it all the more confusing and irritating for us to choose a place to eat. Like, excuse me, stop pressing your menu on my face. TL;DR: Tiendesitas Food Village is an over-all fun place with so many choices for food and drinks, plus live entertainment.

The dishes were shared equally among five people, and even then we had some for leftovers. We had chicharron bulaklak for our appetizer and it taste similar to the ones you'd find on the street, but made from cleaner ingredients. Our main entrees consisted of kare kare ( beef stew with peanut sauce), sisig (a skillet of pork and chicken), crispy pata (deep fried pig parts) and Filipino paella. The Filipino paella was absolutely delightful and it was enjoyed by everyone in my group. They made it Filipino style by adding tocino. The rice was also seasoned Filipino style and toasted to the perfect crunchiness. I highly recommend this dish. The other dishes were decent, but not as good as I expected. The kare kare seemed to lack too much of the peanut butter taste, which is needed to characterize the kare kare taste. The sisig was also lacking flavor, which I think stems from the meat used. Maybe it was a healthier version? The crispy pata was great and crispy! But the accompanying sauce needed more taste and kick to perfect the crispy pata. On the other side, their shakes were wonderful. We ordered all types of shakes and not only did they look beautiful, they tasted divine. For example, the mango and cheese shake is a weird combination, but they made it blend in the creamiest way. The shakes here are something that can be rarely found elsewhere! So for those on a budget but crave a bit of elegance, stop by here. It is also not as crowded as other malls yet since Vertis is so new!

They are better with Lechon Kawali Chips. For dessert, the Iday was very good. However, it's served skewered in a glass drinking cup. The suman was too hard to get out from the cup. I have to come back here on my next visit to try more dishes. Note: I put my bag on the floor next to one of the tall air conditioners inside. It got wet. The AC leaked water. It was a bit annoying. Staff wasn't very apologetic about it. They said they would 'look into it.'

We ordered half of the mama chit special, a small crispy pata and a family size of their cream of mishroom soup. To begin with their crispy pata was just out of this world. The skin was rediculously crunchy. As tho it had a hard shell. Then you break into the meat and its melt in your mouth goodness. The meat was almost as soft as a sea cucumber. Requiring very little effort to bite and breakdown. The flavor too was just amazing!!! The half platter of mama chit special was a lot and there was 3 of us there. They had 3 different types of whole fish, 2 fried, 1 steamed. Fried plantains and other vegetables. Fish balls. Fried pork belly and other offerings with multiple sauces. The cream of mushroom soup was ok. Id give it a 3 out of 5 star. It was a big bowl. Didnt even finish half the bowl. It just wasent that good. It was creamy but maybe just wasent in the mood for it. But brought it home. I also ordered a drink. Dont know the name but it had white boba balls and green gelatinous cubes with ice. The drink was fantastic!!! Sweet but not overly sweet and extremely refreshing. Overall it was a nice experience. I left feeling full and satisfied. Truly authentic Filipino food.

They are located in Greenfield next to others restaurants. This was an average sized restaurant that can accommodate large groups. It was actually pretty busy once we sat down. Service was ok and the guy was attentive but not so welcoming. They got to work on that since many tourists are in the area. We ordered a few items too many to try their food and to bring home for leftovers for others to try. We ordered: 1- Crispy Kangkong - it's different. It's tasty with a side dipping sauce of spiced mayo but it was greasy. 2- Beef Kaldereta with coconut milk - it's different and ok as well but the beef was a little too tough. 3- Laing - was my favorite there 4- Crispy chicken - was good but kind of a small piece. 5- rice - for two cups, this could fit 4 people 6- Mango shake - ok but this needed more sugar 7- San Miguel light beer It's an average Filipino food but still lacked something to wow me. I may come back as they have many other items. If anything changes, I will update my review. I'm always here in this area when I visit the PI. [42/100]
