I know another Burger Establishment has already claimed the slogan "Have it your way" but how much of your way can you really have when ordering there? At the Burger Project, you can! Unless you order their recommended premade burgers, I can guarantee that no two burgers at your table will be the same. With all the options, there's bound to be something that'll stop you from going "I'll have what you're having". And when I say options, I mean options. And not just for the toppings and the sauces. You got four kinds of bread and five... count em FIVE patty variations. You've got your beef and angus beef but they also have chicken, lamb and (my personal favorite) tofu. A tofu burger that doesn't taste like carboard! Fancy that! And it doesn't stop at just the bread and the patty (or patties, if you're feeling indulgent). You can also embellish your burger with a wide selection of toppings. Bacon, pineapple, pepperoni... you're spoiled for choice. Couple that with fries, onion rings or mozzarella sticks and a drink and I'd say you could probably dream up your ultimate burger experience right there. You're only limited by your own taste and your budget.

BRGR Project is another solid establishment in Maginhawa that has been there even way before the boom. It's novel concept of designing your own burgers is enough to keep it alive despite the strong burger competition in the area. PROS: Restaurants like BRGR exist for reinforce my love of DIY restaurants. I have fun getting their little clipboards and checking what I want for the buns and patties and everything else you want to put in there. You could even name it. Yay!; We like their sides but my favorite would be their Animal Style fries. It's gooey and cheesy, perfect for my PMS. CONS: Their patties are too salty for my taste. And apparently not just for me. My steppy tried it out when he was in town with my mom. He knows his burgers and he agrees that there's too much happening in that patty; You can really rack up your bill if you go all toppings- or cheese-happy so take that into consideration when you're on a budget. TL;DR: Go for the experience of choosing whatever the hell you want on your burger, but not really for the burger patties themselves.

    DIY Burger! Yum!

First, cause…read morefor me it's cheaper and not overly priced and it is not pretentious unlike some other burger joints (ex. Army Navy). I stumbled upon this gem just a year ago. It can be a bit crowded because of the limited space but it usually isn't. When it is crowded, I just have them to go. I usually get the classic burger and it just never fails to satisfy my tastebuds. Their bread changed this year but I think it's for the better. It just adds texture. They have that distinctive taste like when you eat it, you'll know it's from BBB. Tried their blue cheese, it was also good. I just really like their burger, I dnt know why. Between them and Zark's, I'd choose this one. Many love Zark's but I just think it is more unhealthy than BBB. I love how attentive and full of initiative their service is. Also the servers are very courteous and they all look so friendly. One time, I asked not to put onions on my burger and they assured me there's no onion itself but also informed me that their was some of it in the mayo which was fine with me. Love their service! Their place is a bit small but it has the feeling of intimacy with the politeness of the servers. They really make sure you're comfortable. It feels like home. They offer a lot of burger choices (I especially think Hahalapeño is a crafty name) on both 1/3 lb and 1/4 lb. You can add Php40 to make it a value meal which includes fries and a drink. They also have rice and pasta dishes with the burger meat. So I hope this helps, you should try this one! I loveeee it!

The flavor, the juiciness, the texture, the quality, even the lingering after taste is just remarkable. I've tried their nearby competitor but the quality of this competitor's meat is cheap and gritty; but, it is filling. Quantity or quality?? You decide! I've been to many burger places here in the US where we live; but, if you want quality burgers, if you like premium, I would say BIG BB is the place to go. It's so good that on our last visit to the PI, we stopped by the Star Mall BigBB store to buy 2 Triple Xs to eat at the airport for the two hour wait before boarding our plane back to SFO. Yummm! BTW, their courteous service is another great reason we dine there too. But it can get crowded because their store has limited seating. So, at times, we order delivery during the dinner hours. At any rate, you can't go wrong. Wish they had a store here in the US. Better than In-N-Out or Red Robin's. Oh Man, biting that triple burger and the moist juice dripping down my mouth .... OMG!

Trust me, it is LIGHTYEARS better than settling for the usual frozen meat pucks or worse, "mystery meat patties". Not that's there's nothing wrong with the occasional Burger Machine visit. My personal fave is the "Beef Bomb" with the chuck and short rib cuts blend. I think it gives the burger a great beef flavor and good bite. I also usually get an order of onion rings. I suggest you ask them to leave off the BBQ powder they season them with. In my opinion, it kind of gives them an odd sweet flavor that you don't really need with the onions already present. Just a little tip. Also, their salted caramel shake is a definite winner. Take it from me, 8 Cuts doesn't disappoint. Pros -Complete customization. From burger blend choice, to the type of bun, all the way to in-house made sauces; you can pimp out your burger any way your heart desires. -Good classic burger fare and all its partners such as onion rings, waffle fries, shakes, etc. Cons -None that I can think of.

It's a bit more pricey than most burger joints, especially their sides. Their skinny fries is 55 pesos, with nothing on it. Add anything to it, like bacon or cheese or whatever, and it jumps to 135 pesos. Worth it, though. Oh so worth it.

The Snack Shack, a quaint burger joint that first opened its doors inside of the University of the Philippines, now has a second home just a couple of minutes away from the university. They still serve the same affordable, freshly ground burgers that we've come to know and love, while introducing new menu items, mostly various kinds of grilled sausages. As always, it's better to call or text ahead of time before actually going to the restaurant since the burgers takes quite a while to prepare. You can take a chance and wing it, but be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes to get your order. The taste is worth the wait but if you're easily bored, you've been forewarned.

That means no melted mozzarella cheese, no caramelized onions and no special signature sauce that claims to be the winner in every bite. I like my burgers with beefy patties, clean and fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with minimal ketchup and mayonnaise, maybe a little mustard. Anything more and I wouldn't enjoy the burger as much. Fortunately, the Snack Shack offers just that - simple, clean and fresh burgers cooked right in front of you. For less than 150 pesos, I can get a great tasting burger. The only downside is the waiting time that forces you to wait at least 15 minutes, and that's on a good night. This simple, hole-in-the-wall is literally located off the road of V. Luna Extension. You'd notice the place wherever there's a swarm of hungry people waiting to be fed. But for the quality, taste and price, I would wait hours just to have a bite.

I liked that the buns were buttered & toasted. The beef patty had a tendency to start falling apart, but I've noticed this with all the burgers I've had here in the Philippines - not sure why this is. The onion rings were super sulit & the serving size was generous enough to have an onion ring with every bite which I loved. I tried some of my friend's sweet potato fries which I also enjoyed, but I think the ones at Charlie's are better. When we went for lunch, all the seats were taken, but a spot for us opened up soon after we ordered. We got our food fast & left with our burger craving satisfied.

What you really have to try at Dayrit's is their house specialty, the Roast Beef Plate. The generous serving of deliciously seasoned and roasted beef comes with a baked potato topped with cheese and bacon bits, vegetables and rice. While the meal can become quite filling, you can just omit the rice and have your roast beef with their delicious baked potato. Another dish that I liked at Dayrit's is their Hamburger Steak. The patty itself is a little bit oddly shaped (it's a rectangle!) and is a bit thin, but it does taste good. It's not too oily and the mushroom sauce that accompanies it is a nice touch as the dish on its own can become pretty dry. On the side, the hamburger steak comes with a small heap of mashed potatoes. What I love about this is that it doesn't taste like the packaged dry spud that you can get, so they get plus points for this. For dessert, try their Brownie ala Mode. This is pretty sweet, so I suggest you split it with a friend. Apart from these, Dayrit's also has sandwiches on the menu, as well as pasta, sizzling ghetti, and short orders. What's great about them is that they also offer frozen cooked food, party trays you can bring to your next potluck, and items sold by weight.
