The moment you enter this restaurant, you are greeted with the neon sign, "Long Live Bacon." You know what that means? Yes, they put bacon on everything. Sinful but worth every calorie! Plus, who doesn't love Bacon? Seriously. The place is small and cramped. There are a couple of high stools and three small tables under the "Long Live Bacon" sign. If you need to use the comfort room, you have to enter the secret room called ABV. It's a speakeasy and I will definitely talk about it more in another review. The food here is perfect for after a long night of drinking with friends. They offer a breakfast menu where you can customize your own plate. Want a bacon and egg sandwich made with 2 waffles? Go for it! But, in my opinion, the definite Must Try here are their Hotdogs! All their hotdogs are bacon-wrapped and deep fried! YUM! I recommend the Chili Dog (Php220) and the Kimchi Dog (Php190). As someone with a student budget (because I am a student), my jaw dropped when I saw Lazy Bastard's menu. They sold hotdogs at Php 300-350. I heard about hotdogs sold at Php 100 but never at these prices. My siblings and I decided to be adventurous and tried their hotdogs anyway. It was in Jupiter street and we found parking around the area. We saw their big sign that said "Bacon & Burgers this way". When I took a bite of their hotdog, I was enlightened. I tasted the hotdog sandwich's full potential. I experienced Lazy Bastard's BACON WRAPPED hotdog in a bun and topped with a load of toppings. I particularly found their Con carne and parmesan hotdog sandwich to be their bestest. On my next visit, I'm planning to try their AVOCADOG. This restaurant is found in the out-of-the-way side of Jupiter, at the basement of a building. The place is very charming, just what I would imagine a New York burger place would look/feel - complete with a secret door leading to a speakeasy (shhhh!). The burger itself was really excellent - juicy, meaty and perfectly cooked! Just the way I like it! The way the burger, cheese, bacon and condiments came together between the buns was just divine! The price wasn't too bad too! I made my order a meal (+P90). For my side, i decided to try the onion rings - which was perfect with a bit of Mayo on the side. And I had Calamansi Iced Tea for my drink which was a twist on the classic lemon iced tea, but was actually pretty good! All-in-all, not too bad of an experience! We came in at 1am (midnight munchies!). but they're open until 3am! The only downside of this place is the restaurant will probably only sit 20 people at most. By bacon retreat facility, I meant, being fostered by all-things bacon and greasy in a far away place where no one can come between our group's love for this grub. Lazy Bastard is located in a basement somewhere in Jupiter Street. Typing that out makes the most sense, to be honest. It's impossible to miss Lazy Bastard when there's a sign outside that says, "Bacons & Burgers This Way!" It's a small bricked restaurant that just begs for you to try out each of their burger and hotdog dishes. Who would want to resist that? Vegans. (I'm sorry to all my vegan and vegetarian friends out there. I love you but I think I love bacon more.) I love my burgers but I think what stood out the most for me here are their hotdogs. I had my share of Bacon Cheeseburger (P220) and Fat Salad Hotdog (P220). All hotdog items are wrapped in bacon. I repeat. ALL HOTDOG ITEMS ARE WRAPPED IN BACON. AGAIN. That in mind, I went to Lazy Bastard at about 4PM (who says breakfast is for the mornings??) and set to ordering my DIY sandwich. I had a longganisa patty, cheese, egg over easy, hashbrowns, bacon in my pancake sandwich. I'm only 22 but goodness, I felt like my arteries clogging up, but what bliss it is to die with a breakfast sandwich in my mouth. Lazy Bastard is a perfect McSober meal, and it won't cost you a pretty penny! Most of their stuff ranges from around 175 to 220... There's a new neon sign that's been making the rounds on Instagram that reads "Long Live Bacon," which pretty much sums up how we feel about this good bit of pork. This sign can be found at Lazy Bastard and while it's name may sound derogatory, the food is anything but. Burgers and dogs are the regular fare and their special? The bacon cheeseburger (hence the sign). But before I divulge in all things add ons (avocado, taters, etc), let's give their burger a moment in the spotlight. 150g (uncooked) of beefy goodness, their peppery patties are cooked to medium well perfection. Juicy but not looking like a raw piece of meat, their 100% ground chuck holds well for a big burger that comes topped with lettuce and caramelized onions, cheese (if you order a cheeseburger), and bacon (if you order the bacon cheeseburger). Served wrapped in foil and straight off the grill, it's the type of messy meal that you wouldn't mind indulging in. Biting into the burger feels like a warm hug--it's comforting and familiar without all the fanfare. The burgers are filling and good for one but if you're like my boyfriend with a stomach that seemingly never gets full, you can add an additional 150g patty for just P80. The place is small and can only seat a few customers at a time but I like this place during it's off peak hours because it's cozy enough to be a no makeup, big meal kind of date place. read more

Burger lovers out there, rejoice! You've got another place in the city that will let you indulge your love for all things juicy and meaty. I'm not a big burger eater myself but there are those times when the longing for something beefy and brawny really can't be ignored any more. Thank god I found myself in Lazy Bastard then. Because of the eye-catching neon sign that says, "Long live bacon," I instantly had the craving for anything with bacon in it. So I got a Bacon Cheeseburger and a side of onion rings. As soon as my order came, I quickly tore off the burger's tinfoil wrapper and I proceeded to chomp my way through Lazy Bastard heaven. And wow, that was one delicious and juicy stairway to heaven. The meat of the burger was very thick and quite peppery, giving each bite a tiny bit of heat. I couldn't taste much of the cheese but the bacon came to save the day. The onion rings were great! I love the batter they used because it made each ring very crisp, crunchy and not soggy at all. All in all, I say, Long live Lazy Bastard! read more

Jupiter street in Makati is once again lighting up and becoming busy because of the many foodie places that recently popped up. During my early years, Jupiter was the main area for our family Sundays. We've tried the entire line of restaurants and everything was good! Good thing new restaurants started popping again! They say 'x' marks the spot, but this place is marked by an arrow leading to the entrance of this restaurant. It is a small place but the food they serve packs a lot of flavour and would definitely leave you wanting for more. One of their best sellers is their bacon cheese burger. What I love about it is that it is not on the greasy side, but sinful nonetheless. Their patty is spot on together with that soft, pillowy bun really compliments the overall taste of the burger. I've been hearing about this burger joint on Jupiter Street though Instagram. All I would see was this neon sign that read "Long Live Bacon". After trying it out, I can say that there's so much more than that bunch of words. The cheeseburger is very juicy and tasty -- tastier than most burgers out there. My friend ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The sight of it almost made me want to order my own. And then they have this breakfast sandwich portion that allows you to create your own. Imagine, bacon, hash browns, egg and longganisa in between two waffles. Sounds crazy, but what's even crazier is that there's no limit to the amount of stuff you can place inside. Ten orders of bacon? No problem. The place is actually a secret passage to another bar, something I'm going to write about in the future. I checked out Lazy Bastard out of curiosity while I was walking down Jupiter St. Their sign said something like "Bacon and Burgers Here" (I think) which was perched just above a flight of stairs that led to their basement entrance. It is a nice cozy restaurant that seats around 15 people. There are three tables and a counter where you can eat. There's a brick wall with a neon sign (I forgot what it said) that gave the place a nice touch. Also off to the side is the entrance to a "hidden" cocktail bar. The hot dog was pretty good (P220) and the cheeseburger kinda so-so (P190). Onion rings (P100) were good and plenty. It seems like the perfect place to have a snack after a night of drinking. Being American expats, my sister and I wanted to have some good ol' "burgers and dogs" to celebrate the 4th of July. Came here on an early Tuesday afternoon with our mom. The place was smaller than I expected (not counting the extra hidden room). No problem, though, as the place was empty when we first arrived. I had read the descriptions of the menu items before we went but couldn't remember them all and they weren't on the chalkboard menu. The cashier was kind enough to explain them to us. We ordered: Chili Dog combo'd with Fries and Calamantea, Breakfast Sandwich (I opted for buttered toast outside and avocado, hash brown, cheese, and over medium egg on the inside) combo'd with Onion Rings and Calamantea, Popcorn Chicken, and Royal soda. Chili Dog wasn't great, but it was good. We asked for chopped onions on top, which they forgot, but were happy enough to provide when we asked again. Fries would've been perfect if they weren't so salty. Calamantea was a nice, refreshing drink. The Breakfast Sandwich was between good and great. They only have American cheese, and it was a skinny slice (I like thick cheddar). But the egg was cooked PERFECTLY! It's hard to find any place that knows how to do over medium right. Onion Rings were good but could've used some sort of seasoning. And the Popcorn Chicken was ok. Prices are reasonable and fair (but I might be biased having just returned from the States where everything, of course, is more expensive). Will I crave a return to this place? Probably not. But would I be willing to go here again? Sure. (I'd give the place 3 1/2 if Yelp allowed 1/2 points.) read more
