Our mantra.
Christina Z.

"Hi. My name is Christina and I'm a lazy bastard." I think I will see you guys in a bacon retreat facility and this will be our introduction to each other. By bacon retreat facility, I meant, being fostered by all-things bacon and greasy in a far away place where no one can come between our group's love for this grub. Lazy Bastard is located in a basement somewhere in Jupiter Street. Typing that out makes the most sense, to be honest. It's impossible to miss Lazy Bastard when there's a sign outside that says, "Bacons & Burgers This Way!" It's a small bricked restaurant that just begs for you to try out each of their burger and hotdog dishes. Who would want to resist that? Vegans. (I'm sorry to all my vegan and vegetarian friends out there. I love you but I think I love bacon more.) I love my burgers but I think what stood out the most for me here are their hotdogs. I had my share of Bacon Cheeseburger (P220) and Fat Salad Hotdog (P220). All hotdog items are wrapped in bacon. I repeat. ALL HOTDOG ITEMS ARE WRAPPED IN BACON. AGAIN. ALL HOTDOG ITEMS ARE WRAPPED IN BACON. They are open 24-hours a day. Yes, my dear bacon lovers. If you ever feel like popping an artery at 2am in the morning, this is your stop! And this should be your only stop. It's also perfect for sobering up if you've had too much alcohol at Gramercy. Long live bacon. Long live bacon.

Like a heart attack waiting to happen! So delicious though

I came to Lazy Bastard for one reason alone: their breakfast sandwiches! I am a notorious breakfast fanatic. I love my continental breakfasts of toast and fruits, my pancakes and bangers, my hashbrowns, my silogs and goto-- ALL the breakfast food. There's nothing like waking up your system like a good, solid one-two punch of delicious to the stomach. (Uh?) That in mind, I went to Lazy Bastard at about 4PM (who says breakfast is for the mornings??) and set to ordering my DIY sandwich. I had a longganisa patty, cheese, egg over easy, hashbrowns, bacon in my pancake sandwich. I'm only 22 but goodness, I felt like my arteries clogging up, but what bliss it is to die with a breakfast sandwich in my mouth. Lazy Bastard is a perfect McSober meal, and it won't cost you a pretty penny! Most of their stuff ranges from around 175 to 220... It really just depends if you want to add everything to your sandwich. (To which i say : heck yeah!) (Ask about ABV and who knows, maybe the cute girl at the cash register will show you around.) Ah, to the folks at Lazy Bastard... I suggest you guys invest in a defibrillator? Or have St.Luke's on speed dial. Cause damn, if I could choose how I'd kick the bucket, it's going to be neck deep in your breakfast sandwich.b

Great food and cute little place! Will definitely come back. I completely forgot to take a pic before I started eating everything was delicious and my totchos were to die for.

There's a new neon sign that's been making the rounds on Instagram that reads "Long Live Bacon," which pretty much sums up how we feel about this good bit of pork. This sign can be found at Lazy Bastard and while it's name may sound derogatory, the food is anything but. Burgers and dogs are the regular fare and their special? The bacon cheeseburger (hence the sign). But before I divulge in all things add ons (avocado, taters, etc), let's give their burger a moment in the spotlight. 150g (uncooked) of beefy goodness, their peppery patties are cooked to medium well perfection. Juicy but not looking like a raw piece of meat, their 100% ground chuck holds well for a big burger that comes topped with lettuce and caramelized onions, cheese (if you order a cheeseburger), and bacon (if you order the bacon cheeseburger). Served wrapped in foil and straight off the grill, it's the type of messy meal that you wouldn't mind indulging in. Biting into the burger feels like a warm hug--it's comforting and familiar without all the fanfare. The burgers are filling and good for one but if you're like my boyfriend with a stomach that seemingly never gets full, you can add an additional 150g patty for just P80. The place is small and can only seat a few customers at a time but I like this place during it's off peak hours because it's cozy enough to be a no makeup, big meal kind of date place.

Burger lovers out there, rejoice! You've got another place in the city that will let you indulge your love for all things juicy and meaty. I'm not a big burger eater myself but there are those times when the longing for something beefy and brawny really can't be ignored any more. Thank god I found myself in Lazy Bastard then. Because of the eye-catching neon sign that says, "Long live bacon," I instantly had the craving for anything with bacon in it. So I got a Bacon Cheeseburger and a side of onion rings. As soon as my order came, I quickly tore off the burger's tinfoil wrapper and I proceeded to chomp my way through Lazy Bastard heaven. And wow, that was one delicious and juicy stairway to heaven. The meat of the burger was very thick and quite peppery, giving each bite a tiny bit of heat. I couldn't taste much of the cheese but the bacon came to save the day. The onion rings were great! I love the batter they used because it made each ring very crisp, crunchy and not soggy at all. All in all, I say, Long live Lazy Bastard!

A little piece of NYC in Makati!

Jupiter street in Makati is once again lighting up and becoming busy because of the many foodie places that recently popped up. During my early years, Jupiter was the main area for our family Sundays. We've tried the entire line of restaurants and everything was good! Good thing new restaurants started popping again! They say 'x' marks the spot, but this place is marked by an arrow leading to the entrance of this restaurant. It is a small place but the food they serve packs a lot of flavour and would definitely leave you wanting for more. One of their best sellers is their bacon cheese burger. What I love about it is that it is not on the greasy side, but sinful nonetheless. Their patty is spot on together with that soft, pillowy bun really compliments the overall taste of the burger. You'll be in for a treat once you get to try their burgers.

The outlet is well lit, quite small, good for solo diners and couples, so big groups might need to order their delicious sausages packed and to go. There are high chairs and tables in front and at the side to settle for that quick bite or for some people-watching. Their menu is also displayed at a couple of blackboards on the wall, and handed out as you enter the place. Also, the preparation area is right beside the cashier, so you could see how your sandwich is carefully assembled. We had the Little Bird Dog, described on the table menu as "a juicy curry chicken sausage topped with sliced pickles, homemade ketchup, sriracha mayo, and chopped onions." We picked wheat bread for the buns. We got two for the price of one, from a restaurant discount booking app. For the dessert, we had the Leche Flan Ice Drop and Mango Sticky Rice Ice Drop (not in the photos), and suprisingly were from Goto Monster. The generous toppings were good as a complement to the sausage, yet it overpowered the chicken meat, and I could hardly taste the chicken in it. The ice cream drops were FTW, a must-have sweet finale. Ordering was easy, but they could use a minor tweak and put up an "Order here" sign or possibly re-align the ordering process to avoid confusion whether they have a table service or a counter service. I just think the place may need some re-arranging to maximize the small space, but it has that hole-in-the-wall kind of ambience to satisfy that convenient sausage craving after a weekend nightout at Poblacion.

My favorite is The Anghang - a spicy lamb sausage, with home-made sauce, grilled onions, jalapenos What I love about their food and service is that it is done right. Friendly service and quality food. How the sausage is grilled is just oh-so-yummy! They serve sparkling drinks too. Bread - you get a choice of wheat or white and taste's delish. Must go-to place!

For those in the know, there's a hidden gem inside Pinks--a speakeasy tucked within the hotel bar…read morewhere you can sip on expertly crafted cocktails while nibbling through Pinks' full menu. And I'll give them credit: they've nailed that 1920s NYC speakeasy vibe, dimly lit with just the right amount of mystery. It's all there--the velvet charm, the intimacy, the flickering lights--but there's one glaring issue. The music. Oh, the music. It's so loud I can barely hear myself think. Look, I get it: bars need a pulse, but when the sound is so deafening that it destroys the entire atmosphere, you've got a problem. A speakeasy is meant to be a place where conversation flows easily, but this... this is more of a nightclub masquerading as a quiet hideaway. It's a missed opportunity, because this place could be something truly special. Now, let's talk about the good stuff. The bartenders? Skilled. Polite. You can tell they know their craft--these drinks are top-notch, embodying the art of mixology. I went in not expecting to drop 500 PHP on a cocktail (because, Manila, right?), but that's exactly what I did. And while this would be standard + more in New York (a lot more), in the Philippines? It felt like a bit of a rip-off. Still, I can't deny the quality of the drinks--smooth, balanced, the kind that makes you stop and appreciate the craftsmanship. Then there's the food. The hotdogs were solid, though not the absolute highlight Pinks is known for. But they're the kind of comfort food that hits just right when you need it, each bite bringing that warm, nostalgic feeling--like a hug from your hometown. The real star, though, was the Salted Egg Pancetta Popcorn. This little creation? Genius. The salty, savory crunch was addictive, and honestly, I'm stealing that recipe and bringing it home with me. It's the kind of dish that makes you sit up and say, "Okay, you've got my attention." Pinks is a great spot--if you can look past the noise and the overpriced drinks. The vibe is there, even if the locals aren't, and while the foreigners around you might seem more interested in their own chatter than mingling, it's still a place with potential. It has the bones of something really special, it just needs a little fine-tuning. If they can fix the sound issue and adjust the pricing a bit, this could be the kind of place you want to return to. Until then, I'll be back for that popcorn and a cocktail... just with earplugs.

What happened!?!…read more Went back to pinks after craving it for so long. We ordered and literally less than a minute the chili cheese dog was brought to our table. Food being served that fast is not a good thing! Especially when you're paying 300 pesos for just the hot dog. The Quality has gone down. When I first went here it took a 10 minutes after we ordered. The bread was heavenly now it tastes stale :( I hope someone tells the manager or owners soon. Hot dogs were undercooked. The bun was just grabbed off the rack.We got the bratwurst and all beef. If you expect a customer to pay that much for hot dog please cook it before you serve it. The only good thing we had was the chili cheese fries which took longer to cook. The first time trying this place the quality was amazing. But now SNR hot dogs have better taste Customer service was GReat, very friendly, the only reason for the 2 stars. If they change the quality back to the way when I first tried it this could've been my go to spot. Now it's just like chuckeecheese fun when I first went there.

Mr. Frank's - Jersey Dog

The 18th century British physician Thomas Fuller once said that "A hog in armour is still but a…read morehog." To paraphrase the erstwhile doctor, a bad hotdog in bacon armor is still a bad hotdog. Mr. Frank's positions itself as a gourmet hotdog stand. In order to do this, it places their hotdogs on hotdog buns, which are clearly baked to order for them, and tops them with various toppings. Upon recommendation from their cashier, I tried their Jersey Dog, which is topped with tomato, onions, jalapenos, bacon, and mayonnaise. I have no complaints about the toppings. I'm actually impressed with the bacon, since it was crisp and meaty. It was just right for my taste. The vegetables were also fresh and crunchy. That being said, Mr. Frank's, CHANGE YOUR HOTDOG SUPPLIER. Whoever made the decision to use skinless, generic hotdogs better not be on the payroll anymore. The hotdogs used here are textureless tubes of mystery meat. There is no snap to them and no meatiness. It reminded me of a larger vienna sausage. I took one bite of the Jersey Dog and I was done. I bit through the bacon, and the bun, and the veggies and felt happy. And then my teeth just sped through the hot dog itself and I knew something was wrong. I'm big on being excellent at your main product, and Mr. Frank's failed in that regard. Going back to Dr. Fuller, you can have the best bun and best toppings in the world, but when you're trying to pass off a vienna sausage as a hot dog, you're just putting a hog in armour.
