I didn't really like burger as a kid. Like I wouldn't eat any at all. So I really surprised myself when I craved (take note, craved) for a piece of hamburger one day. So that's when the burger frenzy started. I tried restaurant after restaurant, I think I was making up for lost time. Fast food burgers are okay and reliable for the most part, but sometimes we just want to eat something that's... I don't know, a little bit loved when it's cooked? I'm being funny here. I don't know. As for 8Cuts, well, for starters, the prices are a little higher than other budget burger houses. High price is pretty much a burger place understatement nowadays so nothing really surprising about that. At the very least 8Cuts doesn't charge too much on their burgers. The cheapest starters I could find was called The Dip of Warm, which is made of artichokes and spinach. So no I didn't get that. I got their mozzarella sticks Php 255 which was okay. They taste good and nothing out of place. For the burgers, they have Classic and Tributes. The classic ones are well, classic hamburgers and cheeseburgers while the tributes have some other knickknacks added to it. I got Hangover for around Php 295. That's a quarter pounder, by the way. I was satisfied with it although I didn't get to finish the whole thing. It was just too big for me. We just came from 8 Cuts Burger Blends at Megamall for lunch earlier with the family. That was actually our second visit there. We ordered the Cheeseburger (No. 3), the Hangover, Onion Rings, Fries, F. Chicken with rice, and bottomless iced tea and lemonade. The burgers were excellent, as expected. Nothing I've ever tasted before. Maybe, it's the combination of all the choicest ingredients in them. The onion rings... YUM! My sister even plans to make them at home. Very tasty.. I wasn't able to taste the chicken because it was my mom who ordered it. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was their bottomless drinks. Their glasses are a bit small & they are already pre-filled with ice. We had to call the servers several times for refill. There were even moments when servers were nowhere to be found because they were attending to other customers. I hope they could do something about this. We sat beside the window. It has a great view of EDSA. Ordered onion rings which didn't taste like onion rings. For some people that might be delicious but I like my onion rings to taste like, well, onions. Spicy chicken wings was good though. The mushroom burger was kind of bland, considering that burgers are their specialty. The chocolate milkshake with a hint of vodka was so-so. Salted caramel shake was good. There was a point in my life when I thought burgers were about being big and having a lot of meat and grease. I got to try 8 Cuts when I was with a cousin. We were shopping at the New Fashion Hall and we decided that it was time for some dinner. I heard about 8 cuts a couple of times already, about how it was this new burger place and so we decided to eat there. The inside of the store had a kind of retro theme. Their kitchen was a counter type one where you could see them preparing burgers. Unfortunately, the place was full so we had to sit somewhere away from the counter. Their burgers are a bit pricey but they are totally worth every peso. I decided to try one of their lamb burgers because I have always been a fan of lamb meat. The burger wasn't huge and did not smell of any grease. When I took a bite out of it, I felt something very unexpected. This burger was actually oozing with flavour. I just couldn't take it. I ranted to my cousin about how burgers are all about the size and the meat and here we were enjoying an average sized burger that was filled with spices and stuff that stimulates the tastebuds. I would really say that they gave me a kind of artisanal burger: one that is not sold for it's size or grease but for the taste. We also tried their nutella milkshakes and we were just satisfied. Zark's, while legendary, is too much of a hassle for me to go to, and funnily enough, the last Burger Machine I ate at was at Quezon Ave (don't ask). A place would let me dictate on which cuts of meat I could use on my patty, then let me build my burger around that patty, is a place that will always be a winner in my book. My brother and dad are of the same opinion, although my brother also got sold on the arnold palmer, while dad was all about the onion rings. My latest favorite, though, is the one mom likes: the falafel burger. The falafel is juuust right, not too crunchy for a sandwich, and not too soggy that it breaks apart when you look at it hard. Just to make your mouth water, a Q daddy is a quarter-pounder (8 Cuts' own special mix of meat for the patty), cheddar, lettuce, jalapeno ranch, tomato, crispy bacon, and a dollop of BBQ Sauce. Yes, it is as good as it sounds. The onion rings are perfect as well. Crispy, not too soggy and not too bready. The milkshake is thick and creamy. 8 Cuts is probably the go-to solid burger place in basically every upscale mall in the Philippines, be it Greenbelt or Aura. And it's actually a really good burger place: patties are good, buns are good, and there's a good assortment of toppings and sides. I particularly like the Hangover burger: barbecue sauce, onions, bacon and an egg. The burgers are on the expensive side certainly (the Hangover is P295) but I'd say that you get your money's worth in terms of taste. The retro ambiance and decorations are also pretty good too, if not a little stale. Weirdly enough though, my favorite thing on the menu in 8 Cuts is their Onion Rings. I mean fuck, the onion rings are the cheapest thing on the menu (P65!) and they're HUGE! And they're great: crispy, salty and sweet, exactly how I like my onion rings. Like, I could eat two of those and I'm pretty sure that I'd be more busog than if I actually ate one of the burgers. Personally, I'd go to 8 Cuts to take out Onion Rings. Consider that those are roughly the same price as your average large fries at any fast food establishment, and you notice how cheap and sulit these onion rings actually are. I had heard many good things about 8 Cuts before I ate there so when I visited for the first time I had very high expectations. It did NOT disappoint AT ALL. I wouldn't say I'm a picky eater in general but when it comes to burgers, let's just say I can get quite finicky. Now 8 Cuts isn't the first "make-your-own" type burger place in the metro but the quality of every ingredient to choose from makes all the difference. You get to pick and choose only the best toppings to go on your burger as well as the kind of bun and beef blend for the patty. Their buns are all fresh and their patties are extra juicy and flavorful. I love the steak cut! I found it tangier than the regular house blend. They also have an array of cheeses and unique sauces that make you salivate just thinking about them. Truffle creamed cheese and sweetly spiced BBQ sauce sound good? They sure taste good! For starters/sides I lalalooove their Golden Cheddar Mozzarella Sticks and their Skinny Fries with the Sub-Atomic Chorizo and Cheese. *heart eyes emoji* The vibe of the restaurant is really cool with interesting retro wall fixtures and eye-catching typography.
