    I took a class, making my own umbrella. The instructor, Marcia, was able to explain, in multiple…read moreways, each technique. The class fee was $60 for an all-day class and included lunch, refreshments, the umbrella frame, and the pattern. I felt it was a fair price, and I received individual assistance from the instructor. Also, the pattern had an error, and I had purchased, during the shop's batik sale, too little fabric. The owner, Charlie, let me pick out fabric in the correct amount and did not charge me for it. I have had several quilts professionally quilted here, both on the computer-automated machine and also custom-quilted by individuals. In all cases, I have felt the quilting enhanced the beauty of my projects, rather than detracting or distracting from it. When I first moved to the town, the quilters at the shop helped me get situated, and find a doctor. Each Christmas, I make quilts to give away to strangers, part of my service to humanity. When Charlie, the shop owner, found this out, saw what I was working on, she insisted on doing the quilting for free, which saved me a great deal of time and energy; she and her staff did beautiful work, not skimping even though they weren't charging. I enjoy doing business here. I think the people are honest, and care a great deal about other people.
