Desperate, I went on thumbtack and sent out a message (more like a distress signal). Among the replies I got back, Janice from Simply Elegant wedding and events reached out to me. She stood out instantly. She sent me links, and information. And a list of vendors to get on the phone right away. (Free of charge) and once we got on the phone she was extremely professional, funny, and sincere. She knew what I needed, and right away I knew I had to work with her. We made an instant connection, and I'm SO glad I found her! Throughout the past 9 months, Janice was available to me for questions I had, planning, she went with me to every vendor, helped picked our vendors, and was there for every step. Eventually I was calling her my "wedding mom". Haha! She is worth her weight in gold, and I couldn't have done it without her. My wedding was 2 weeks ago.. and it was BEAUTIFUL! Janice took control and made our dream wedding come true! Complete with my dorky Harry Potter stuff, and my husbands love for sports- she made it elegant and fun in such a seamless way. She even has an arsenal of wedding supplies and helped by bringing some of her own supplies! As well as her supplies, her vendors she works with were phenomenal! We used her caterer, make up artist, Dj (DjErick Ve) , florist , photographer, and party rentals. EVERY one of these vendors were amazing.. and a pleasure to work with. And they all worked amazing together with Janice. EVERYONE loved our wedding and we are still hearing about it from everyone. I couldn't believe the amount of detail and finesse she put into my day. And the whole time (even with the inevitable hiccups that happen- stupid ice guy never showed up) she handled everything the day of , figured it out, and allowed me and my new husband to enjoy wedding without us even knowing! If you're looking for a wedding planner that is not only VERY skilled and knowledgeable about what she does, but also someone who cares about YOU and your day. She is the one to call. Janice has become someone I love! And you better believe she will be invited to my future baby showers, and parties! Because not only is she professional.. she's a freaking BLAST to be around! Thank you Janice.. for everything. You made me feel so special and loved. And thank you for being my therapist, my "wedding mom", and my friend as well as my planner. Vanessa is by far the WORST venue coordinator I've interacted with in terms of customer service, industry knowledge, and communication skills. If you read the other positive reviews, you'll notice they ALL paid additional money for Vanessa to be their wedding coordinator. If you do not pay this, she is a horror to work with (as corroborated by the negative reviews), and I recommend AVOIDING this venue. Another reviewer also stated the owner is her brother-in-law so there is no recourse for her behavior and there are no other venue coordinators available. Detailed below are just some of the negatives: - The wedding was actually for my sister. She was having difficulties with Vanessa so asked me to assist. I reached out to Vanessa explaining who I was but never received a response. Instead, Vanessa told my sister that she felt threatened by my contact and will only work with individuals that signed the venue contract. I never said anything negative, but she often overreacted and took offense over nothing. - Every response took 2 weeks. She would contradict herself in the same email, which added confusion. - She would use made up lingo and when asked for clarification, she would blame us for not understanding "industry language" and still wouldn't clarify. In my 10 years, I've never heard some of the terms that she used. - She didn't understand standard wedding requests. We asked for a cake table and Vanessa responded that the request was unclear because she didn't know what size a cake table should be. We asked to add 2 rectangular side tables for guestbooks, gifts, etc. On the proposal, Vanessa commented "unsure why the client requested". - Unless asked, she wouldn't disclose critical information. We asked multiple times if additional tables (sweetheart, cocktail, etc.) are free. Vanessa confirmed they were free, but once the proposal arrived, it showed free tables with each linen at an additional charge. I told my sister to confirm if the venue provided cake cutting utensils. They don't (which is fine) but this is all information that you tell your clients without prompting. Imagine cutting the cake with no utensils! - When asked questions, she rudely responded with "NO" or "YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE" - In the 1.5 years of planning, despite multiple requests, the venue proposal was only updated twice - once for the initial contract and once when full payment was due 30 days before the event. My sister had to withhold final payment to get her to update it. She updated it 1 week after with inaccurate information. We annotated and returned it next day saying that she'd pay once it was correct. Vanessa had the audacity to respond that making notes on the proposal made it seem like they were stalling payment. Granted, there were 1-2 new updates amongst many more corrections but it was because Vanessa withheld information, and new adjustments were required after seeing the revised proposal for the 1st time. - Vanessa never provided a table layout. My sister had to create it and then confirmed if 5 round tables per row would work. On wedding day, we arrived to a different layout of 4 rounds per row. Vanessa blamed it on a 2 ft. wide photo arch, stating that she had to make adjustments to fit an arch that was discussed weeks prior. However, it was evident that the room would have NEVER fit 5 rounds per row. We had to rearrange the seating chart and the chairs to accommodate for her mess. - Also on wedding day, Vanessa was surprised to find the timeline included a champagne toast. Mind you, the timeline was provided 30 days ago and toasts are standard in weddings. So, she gave us 30 mins to decide on the additional champagne cost. I asked to remove 1 champagne bottle charge as there was an entire table of kids, but she refused. So apparently, the venue includes children in the champagne count even though serving alcohol to minors is illegal. - There was also a safety hazard. About 25 chairs with wheels/casters were intermingled with standard dining chairs. I unknowingly sat in a chair with casters and almost fell. There was no visible difference between the standard chairs vs. chairs with casters, and the table linens prevent anyone from seeing the casters. I told Vanessa who saw no issues and argued that people falling out their chair has never happened before. Thankfully, we were able to get these all replaced prior to the wedding to avoid any older guests from getting hurt. To the owner: Not only is Vanessa horrible to clients, but since she never updated the proposal, the kitchen used the original headcount and cooked 40 additional meals (talk about a waste of money). Also, due to not providing a table layout, the banquet captain Griselda set up tables once, and then had to come back 1 hr earlier to redo it, making staff do avoidable extra work.

And that is only the beginning of the nightmare we experienced. Not enough food for our 30 guests when we ordered food for 50...the flowers never arrived...and after crying, I was left with gossip from the party goers that I put on horrible parties. I will never believe yelp. Eclectic had to have paid people to write nice things. The party for my husbands new job and employees was just awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then Cindy with Eclectic Events is your planner. Cindy accompanied us throughout the entire process from meeting with vendors and making sure we weren't taken advantage of. Though all our vendors were great, the added experience of Cindy ensured a positive wedding planning experience. She covered all the minuscule details and our agenda was kept on track! From the girls hair and makeup, to the grooms haircuts, limousine pick ups, church photos, the various photographers involved, and the time schedule for the reception events including our sunset pictures, everything went off flawless! Cindy stayed in contact with us the entire wedding process. She might have drive some vendors crazy, but she knew what she was doing and looked out for us, her clients. Overall, Cindy was very professional and very gay friendly. She didn't make us feel different not once! We are grateful for kind-hearted professionals like Cindy. Her ideas and contacts are amazing! She knows how to get things done and get them done right. I can't even imagine what my wedding day would have been like without her. We booked a venue that was a completely blank slate because we had a very specific vision for what we wanted the wedding to be and look like. Barb came in with the perfect suggestions for vendors and great advice about logistics. She knew exactly who to call when we said we wanted TONS of color in our florals. She knew exactly what we needed when we said the venue doesn't have a built-in bar. She read through and kept on top of all our contracts. We booked her more than a year ahead of our wedding and she stayed in contact the entire time. We had 280 total guests and the Fresno Event Group knew exactly how to handle the movement of all of the guests from parking to ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. Cindy was great at setting up the site map and worked with us when we had questions about table layout and the best setup for flow. Barb had tons of tips and suggestions for moving all of the guests from space to space in our massive venue! I had one inspirational photo and a general theme and the Fresno Event Group turned our wedding into a live Pinterest board. Every single detail and idea we had was brought to life in a way that was a billion times better than we could have imagined. Everything was perfect! I met Barbara while I was working in the hotel industry and I instantly loved her personality and warmth. When I got engaged about 5 years later, I immediately called Barbara to hire her for my wedding, knowing full well I wouldn't have enough time or patience to plan my whole wedding from start to finish and that I would be in great hands. (I also didn't want my bridal party or family putting out the decor or being in charge of coordinating the vendors the day of the wedding, I wanted it to be a relaxing day for all.) The whole FEG Team (Barb, Cindy and Nicole) exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond anything I could have imagined from an event coordinating company. Barb met with me anytime I needed (she doesn't restrict her clients to a max amount of meetings because she's realistic and knows that planning an event may need multiple meetings and site visits to make things perfect). She kept me on track and was incredibly organized during the whole process. She accompanied us to all vendor meetings and even met with our vendors alone if we couldn't make it. She was also amazing with my in-laws - she kept them in the loop the whole time and gained their trust right away with her professionalism and follow through. We had some difficulties dealing with our venue and she was always there willing to go to bat for us to make sure we were happy with the end result. Barb's whole team was there from the moment the tent went up on the Thursday before the wedding until the tent and pipe & drape came down on Sunday after the wedding was over. I was lucky enough to have Barb, Cindy and Nicole all there on my wedding day (4.16.16) and they worked SO hard to make sure everything about the day was beyond perfect. They never once came to tell me if anything was going wrong, they just handled it. I was more relaxed on my own wedding day than I've been for all my girlfriends' weddings! It was the most amazing day and I truly have Barb and her team to thank for that. They even surprised us with a thoughtful wedding gift.
